South West Autoshite Meet - 19th September 2015

There seems to be genuine interest, but the weather can really make or break a day I reckon.

I'd always prefer a Sunday to be honest, Saturdays do seem to be the 'busier' day for a lot of people.

I was quite peeved I missed the Autoshite meet up a while back at the Lancia fella's house and will definitely attend one asap.

Well as said I'm still happy to go along, might only be 3 of us but better than nothing, we can organise another one afterwards.

Posted

Sorry, hope I haven't put a downer on this if there's plenty still wanting to go!

Posted

I'm working so won't be going I'm afraid

Posted

Given that it's near my place, and I'm free on Saturday, I'm more than happy to go if anyone else is. Always happy to collect more names for the "shiters met" thread :)

My washers dont work so im hoping for rain , otherwise i need a squeezy bottle out the window

I should be in attendence. I'm not sure how alive I'll be as I will be at a mates house party the previous night, but I am determined that I will be at this.

I would have come along if I wasn't working this Sat, maybe us Westcountry Shiters can have another get together in the Spring/Summer when it should hopefully of stopped raining down here! (Sundays always better for me these days since I started driving lorries for a living about 6 months ago which means working every other Sat..)

I'm with you on this

OK, just to confirm for those still attending: The Drewe Arms, Drewsteignton at 10:00AMish tomorrow.  Be there or be square.  You won't have any trouble spotting me in the Rover 220 covered in blotches of grey primer, I know I'm looking for a beige Saab as well, what else?

Posted

Either a leaking Citroen XM or a Mk1 Fiesta with a dodgy alternator and rubbish HT leads. I'm not quite sure which one will be best in this weather yet. I may be a tad late, due to hang over.

So we are meeting at the pub then going to the museum then back to the pub ?

Sounds like a plan to me , pub twice in one day and sentence.

Are we going to have 3 Phills there? Im one too.

Posted

That won't be at all confusing.  But yes, we will.  Cornish Phil, Rover Phil and Hung Over Phil.

Posted

I can see no possible way that this will be confusing in the slightest.

Just given the Golden Nugget (its new name after my brother borrowed it while his 9-3 , the silver bullet , was in my workshop)

Ive just seen that the alternator is at a jaunty angle and the belt looks very new . Hmm wcpgw etc.

Well it was great to meet you 3 today, the weather wasn't too much of a problem and we managed to include a visit to the outside of a museum, two convoys, coffee in a posh hotel and a superb plate of sausage and mash at the pub.

The residents of two sleepy villages found their lives changed forever when this stunning foursome cruised into town.

XM is a handsome if slightly pheasant-battered barge which cast a sinister presence in the rear-view mirror.

Mr Livered's fleet ranges from Teutonic efficiency (with headlamp wipers) through to charmingly honest french peasantry.

Twosmoke's Saab may have had more holes and gaffer tape than actual metal but it made up for that with a stunningly immaculate set of brown velour seats, they barely looked used, let alone like they'd seen 230k miles of bottoms.

Must be done again.

Hey, I've got 2 of those coats! I only wear them with my suits to make it look like I 'work in the city'.
