There is something depressing about that monged-up MR2 fake Ferrari thing. All of that effort, quite some cash (probably) and for no result. Even if it was completed all it would be at best is a fucked-up MR2 suitable for exploding as a special-effects double on the Holby City set.

Why do  people do this?

Do they really think anyone will be fooled, might think "oooh, Frary ennit, suck your dick for a go in that mister"?

I get why you might want to build something special but what could, ever, ever, be special about this?

suprisingly, at the same time people spend ten and fifteen grand on these things, they could be driving in a tidy real Ferrari or Aston Martin at the bottom of its price curve.

This... and if you buy one at the bottom of the curve you'll have an asset that increases in value not stagnates whilst all the fibreglass falls off! Just look at what the Maserati Merak, Lamborghini Espada and Ferrari Dino 308GT4 that featured on Topgear all those years ago are now worth....

As I needed a daily driver I passed them up. Never mind, it is only money.

Potentially ignorant question but is a Mk3 three-door shell all that desirable / valuable? I thought the silly money was all about Mk1s and Mk2s being turned into replica rally cars.

Gartrac made RWD Mk3s so perhaps he's basing his valuation on that. There was also the RS1700T that was shitcanned in favour of the RS200 programme. Whether Gartrac bought the designs to the RS1700T shell-in-white or not I'm unsure. Someone who knows Fords will be on here to put us right.

Just saw a resto project consul 3000 GT in Arizona gold go for £4.6 k on shitebay.

 

No doubt due to the OMGSWEENEYSCENE tax.
