Hardly seems worth it. I do wonder sometimes if cars like this are doomed to just do the rounds of dealers for years on end, never finding a deserving home.

It's back!!

Now at bargain £400, still no MOT but no mention of coin stuck in handbrake, perhaps he's found and spent it.

Even a new user ID to prove his love of Peugeots!

Bloody hell, he's had some IDs:

Got a feeling that the singer vogue auto is one that i road tested for a friend about a year ago,it had a strange noise from the flexplate/crank/pistons on the overun.Never did suss the noise but i can remember it drove ok but was so slow it was genuinely funny,2K seems a bit strong but they are open to offers,£500 seems nearer the mark.

I wonder is the Aitken-Walker cars above related to She-Who-Crashed-An-Astra-GTE-Into-A-Lake?

Actually, I met her a few times over here, nice lady.

Please just look at this listing , this idiot believes the registration is worth £2000

it is AAA 924C

Here is the listing wording originally...

I brought her because i really wanted to fix her up and bring her back to life but i do not have the time nor the money plus i need a bigger car because i am the only one in my house hold that can drive and i pick my neice up from nursery. The price is high purely because the number plates being AAA and having chrome numbers and letters with a black background is worth roughly £2000 on their own. Now the car does need a bit of work, welding being the main repair needed, needs new tires, brake lights do not work, the brakes need a look at, fuel gauge does not work, wipers do not work, lights are tempremental sometimes they work sometimes they dont, same with the horn sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt, indecators do not work, engine is fine that i kno of , she does start but hasnt been started in a few months, the seats are a bit worn but she is over 40 years old passenger side being the worst (see pictures), spare tire and manufactures jack included. ive listed all that i know of the car but i recommend coming to see the car personally.

THen he changed it to...

''I brought this minor because i had the intention of fixing it up but i dont have the money. There are a few things that do not work or need replacing; tires, fuel gauge, head lights, indicators, interior light, some welding needs to be done, thats all i can think of off the top of my head, it does start and run fine but has not been started in a few months. The number plates are worth roughly £2000 on their own. Usual wear and tear from a 47 year old vehicle. I would advise a personal view of the vehicle before any bids are made. Cash on collection. No returns. advertised elsewhere so i hold the right to withdraw at anytime.''

XJS is well fit especially in that colour. I'd say it was worth about half that though. I could be completely wrong...

Posted

It looks the business, but I would just be waiting for problems to happen. XJS seem to fetch all manner of pricing; I wouldn't know how to value one!!!

Posted

A bit much I reckon. People are starting to push up the prices of early ones to see if collector interest is there. Not sure it really is yet, but they are appreciating.

Now with new pictures! Remarkably even worse than the previous lot - Christ he is cheap saving 9p or whatever it is per new photo.

That oil filter is a piss take. You can still get those, and the part number is the same. EFL134 for Ford CVH, EFL125 for Ford x Flow/Valencia etc. £4 squire. We used to sell those by the "case" (10 filters) back when I worked in my mate's shop. It got to the point where we knew the popular part numbers by heart!
