The only point of the "Mr" comment was that I didn't think 4-Star Classics needed to call me "Dr" in their advert as if, in some way, that adds anything to the car? Because it's irrelevant. If they'd wanted to name me plain "Mr" would have done (and in reality been more accurate)!

Just because someone has spent a lot of money on a car does not mean its worth the money they have spent doing it up. No matter how nice that car is its probably not worth anywhere near as much as they are asking. Okay they might find some lunatic who is willing to part with that much money for a car that will depreciate as quickly as a new car the moment that they drive it off the forcourt but back here in the real world, thats a lot.

No, the thing you fail to appreciate is that there are quite a lot of people who, for completely sane reasons, will pay a significant premium for a car that isn't the normal old...banger ( I was going to say:"...shite").

The other point that your statement falls down is that those sort of cars don't depreciate like a new car the moment they drive off. An acquintance of mine sold his pristine E28 about 4 years ago for £11K (i.e very strong money? But someone bought it.) That same car has just sold again for £18K. Or do you suggest that that very same "lunatic" bought it a second time?

 

Going back to my ex-White E28. How can you say:

It's already sold twice for more than that in the past! What you could more accurately say is something like:

 

" I wouldn't pay that much for it." Or, "It's not worth that much to me". Those kind of statements have very different meanings and would be fair enough. That's then your choice and preference. Additionally, I appreciate to you in your "real world" and to many other people also that amount of money is "a lot". To many other people it actually isn't! That's the 'Real World'.

 

Now, although I do have some medical training I'm not going to suggest you take a short-course Anti-Opinionated Pills but maybe just sit down over a nice cup of Horlicks and have a think about the 'real world' and not just about a 'shite' World.

No it isn't...it's about what money people have and then what they choose to spend it on.

 

I don't know what you drive but I'm sure there will be people elsewhere in the 'real world' who would think the same of your choice/s?

 

For example, my very first car (30 years ago) was one of these cars in the link below. I bought it for £800. Now, when I see that car I don't think (or say on an internet forum and thus denigrating the car and the sale!):
