Gotta be honest there's not much temptation there for me, although i might lick a 53-plate astra van for 235, I am currently suffering a minor want for one of them actually. Good to see the continuing existence of a proper old banger auction though. What extra do you have to pay on the hammer price?

£100 deposit on hammer drop - cash only too for this deposit.

From their website:

Entry fee: £15 (inc VAT)

Commission: 5% (min charge £25) +VAT

Buyer Indemnity Rate: £30 up to £500 and £5 per £500 thereafter

So I believe as a buyer, it's just the £30 upto £500 and +£5 on top for every £500 extra.

I would be, I'd be all 'UUUUGGGGHHHH WHY DO I DO THIS TO MYSELF' and go into a massive decline

Baws - I have an 03 plate Astra van in my yard, needs rear brake pipes and a windscreen

Probably going to sort it out and get it tested myself

I have got about 10 of em in my watch list all of sudden, I fancy a presentable 03-05 plate, ideally on steels with hubcaps still present, 150k+ mileage for maybe 350-400 shekels max

If you fancy tarting this one up yourself (I've already bought rear brake flexis with integrated bits of steel pipe) it'd be cheap, like

My mate has an Astra van in blue, with alloys and rear spoiler. It looks bloody ace. He got given it my a friendly relative too.

Send us a few snaps then, let's have a look! Do these brake pipes need sorting to make it drive able?

Posted

They're not leaking but they won't pass a MOT of which it's devoid. I'll take some snaps tomorrow

I have currently got no plans for next Saturday, anybody want a Cannock meet up?

Please say yes or I will be forced to get round to changing the rear disks on the Renault and I'm not sure that I want to fight knackered French bolts.

Posted

Yes, breakfast from 9:30, Auction from 10:45, hammer drops at 11:00 and finishes at 13:00ish.

I'll have a look see if there is something novel to hit in the afternoon, for those that have a day pass.

Sadly like the Fred Dibnah date, this clashes with Mrs_Pillock's first strong(wo)man competition in Northampton where I shall be cheering her on.

I'm out. In Dudley Tuesday, but then Sussex for much of the rest of the week, which is the wrong way.

I'm in, any excuse to avoid doing boring chores is most welcome.

Bout time I did some AS in the Community stuff, but depends on (1) whether I have to do overtime and (2) if I can get up early enough.

Wd be nice to meet some of you lovely peeps in the flesh, so to speak

Just to confirm we use the Truckers Rest for breakfast normally and not the Hollies? I get confused easily and started reading the thread from the start where we appeared to previously go to the Hollies and then switched to the Truckers Rest.

^ So confirmed, James.  Bigger tea mugs and better bacon at the Truckers...  ;)

Cannock Auctions is Dead, the Truckers is very much alive as are most of us, shall we get a gathering of the Midlands Massiv organised?

Was just thinking about Cannock the other day. Would be well up for a similar shite auction meet if an alternative could be identified
