Keys in a Bowl - Test Drive Requests

Borrowed a mate's Triumph 1300, it was lovely. Starter jammed after I stalled driving up a narrow lane. Rolled it backwards to bump the starter free, and caught the door on the hedge. Door banana shaped and pointing forwards. I found a door (in the wrong colour) and then the timing chain broke.....

Im quite relaxed really towards people driving my stuff, many have the Polonez.

Same here. All I ask is that they treat my property with the same respect I give to theirs.

Yeah i like seeing other folk driving my shite, hence lending the Argenta to Ceri for 6 months. Anyone fancy borrowing a Rover 25 van for 6 months? (Don't all rush at once)

Don't mind folk having a shot in the 740. You're welcome to give it a go and fondle the shagpile headlining...

Anyone's quite welcome to have a cruise in the Rover 220 if you want to.  For my part I'd love to try a 2CV!

Someone on here has an S2000. I'd love another go in one of those.

You can have a go in my C4 if you want. I just don't want to hear what you think of it afterward.

There are many things here I fancy having a go in.  The Bollox Van is tempting too, what's the deal with borrowing that for a little bit?  Might prove useful while the Princess is still waiting repairs.

If it were a P6 with a straight engine, I'd be much more interested.

I'd be interested in any sort of P6 but I'm worried I won't like it as much as I'd imagine. Meeting heroes and whatnot.

I've got a Subaru MV284 if the Painter pulls his finger out and finishes it...

Will this drive better with paint?

Re e type, I was told many years ago that they are just like any other car to drive but the accelerator pedal has massively long travel.

I need to find out whether this is really true.

You can try the GT6 with the straight engine but somehow think people on here would be more interested in the Visa

As of tomorrow, I mightn't have any true shite to offer, but if anyone wants to straddle the Enfield's pallet and make brum brum noises, be my guest!

Renault Avantime or a Vel Satis...................just how shonky / unreliable are they to own?

I already know I don't like the GT6, it's one of the most uncomfortable cars I've ever been in beaten only by a Mini or that Ledbury Maestro I had.  Shame, because in every other respect they're actually rather lovely.

I can offer a Merc 300E with a straight-6; it's more or less sorted now*.

This is a brilliant idea - might be the arse-kick I need to get the Dyane back on the road. Because they're much, much better than 2CVs...  :P

* Famous last words...  :rolleyes:

Has this started to turn into some sort of Autoshite Drive It Day?  Not that I'm complaining, obviously.

I had a panhard 24bt and they are fun and bloody scary at the same time. Mine had been tuned and went like hell 100mph was possible if you were brave enough. I did tell myself when I sold it never to buy another but a PL17 estate could tempt me. They are a bit like a 2cv only much lower. I can offer a '94 Renault 5 '52 Hotchkiss '58 Renault R2087 (ready soon fingers crossed I can get the rear drums off) and finally for anyone with no taste whatsoever a Citroen C3 pluriel. I wouldn't mind trying out a Rover P5 as I quite like the look of them and haven't driven one in years and that was the P5B with the throttle pedal modified for use during the Fuel crisis in the early 70's. They had put a bloody great bolt under the pedal so you could only get about half throttle

All I can throw in the bowl is a electronic key for a r plate merc e200 estate. Slight hesitation on acceleration. 0-60 in about 12 seconds makes for frightening hill junctions!

We've got a 1.3 Allegro 3... You can have a go at that if there's some way of making the logistics work.

Of my cars, the entertaining ones to drive are a Saab 900 turbo and a 58 Minx.

I don't know if I will ever get to meet any shiters though: the north seems to be heavily represented on here. I do not go north of the Watford Gap.

Well, I would happily swap a go in either of those for a go in something from my fleet! Us southerners will have to get our act together and organise a meet-up some time...

I SHOULD be used to the luvvies driving but it never gets any easier. Big probs are the bullion van getting in gear (the edge of thr kevlar on the floor means the clutch pedal doesn't fully dip if you have big feet) and the lack of rear veiw makes reversing lutons scary. Was once told the Mk1 panel's steering rack was faulty (erm.......?)

Shouldnt be a problem for shiters though.

Best place I could suggest is Longcross (AKA Qinetiq) on the A3/M3. Might be a bit of a git find it unused though. The tank track's still there!

Well after all the excitement, I've still got the Ax 16v here, it's got a poorly cv joint, but still goes very well.

That I would very much like to do, your Allegro is pretty much the ideal.
