 I was brought up in a part of London mainly inhabited by Hasidic Jews and it was certainly known as Volvo City as about 40% of the cars there were Volvos, and there was only one Mercedes around the whole district. On the other hand all my Saabs had Bosch electrics and two had Ford Taunus engines, so I'm not too sure about the German non-connection with Swedish Cars. Any confirmation/alternative theories?

I was wondering about the non German content in Volvos. Mine is full of Bosch and other German made bits and bobs although it was put together in Belgium and you'd never know about the German content unless you take it to bits.

Maybe it's a lack of obviously German stuff?

Volvos & Saabs are full of Bosch & VDO electrics, have been since the 96/Amazon days.

As for Mercedes, there's a reason that lovely* metallic beige paint you see on quite a few Mercs is referred to as JRG.

I would say that it is most likely to attract Pam (aged 48) on reception who is in a loveless marriage and fancies some excitement in the back of a premium brand motor car in a layby at the side of the a27.

 

On the plus side, as her sex life has been stifled for so long, she will be up for anything so make the most of it.

 Any thing with a chrysler (US) badge should be binned in my opinion they are hateful things just look at the PT cruiser. Case closed
