I think they don't know shite.

Do you mean the article, or the Japanese car manufacturers?

That article is pretty much pure bollocks.

Posted

Well, I wouldn't disagree too much about the Nissan Cherry Europe....

Posted

Agree its bollocks, but made me wonder what happened to all the xedos 6s that were around in the late 90's?

Ok, the 9 was pretty rare, but the 6 was popular, probably with people that went on to buy IS Lexuses and X Type Jags.

I've only ever owned two types of Japanese car MX5/Eunoses and aLS400, I am officially cool.

( just remembered a green 77 Laurel, damn back to being uncool)

How to buy a used car.

http://www.confused.com/car-insurance/articles/how-to-buy-a-second-hand-car

Buying a second-hand car is not for the faint of heart, says motoring journalist Rob Griffin Richard Head who shares his top tips on how to avoid a costly mistake.

Most of the article is like reading the Daily Mail, just transpose 'second-hand car' with 'foreigner' and 'buying' with 'living next door to'.

*EDIT* Oh dear, the gin is making me angry and oppinionated tonight.

You bleeding what?

The Shitroen fucking Xsara fucking PICASSO features in a list of coolest cars?

Have I slept through winter, is it 1st April already?

(I've just read the comments under the list... seems that most other people don't think the execrable pickarsehole is cool either, hehe!)

Sorry to take this off on a further tangent J'man, but best and worst Italian cars.

http://www.confused.com/car-insurance/articles/the-best-and-worst-italian-cars-ever-made

BEST - Fiat 500

WORST - Maserati Biturbo, Fiat 124, Alfa 6.

I would take any of the 'worst' over a hundred Fiat 500's and an all over body massage from that right nice looking bird that does the news. You know the one, she's got hair and stuff, and a body, and some legs too I believe, all the good shit.

"Nissan dealers didn’t want it because it didn’t have a Nissan engine and Alpha dealers males didn’t like it as it looked like a Nissan."

The ONLY cool Jap car is a Laurel

Not only is a budget of £2,000 enough to buy and run a car for at least 5 years, nobody in their right mind could accuse something as bland and pussy-whipped as a bloody Focus of being 'cool' by any definition. And no further words are necessary about sticky bulbous French haemorrhoid-shaped bastard carriers.

To be fair, they are called confused.com for a reason and it's not going to be for the strength of their reasoning.

£2,000 is a 'tight budget'. £2,000 is enough to buy a nearly new car!

It's enough to buy 5 nearly new cars.

Nah, you'd need a rusty slammed dub w/stickers for her to drop her kn...Bellindas.

I am just glad I restrict myself to sane and rational areas of t'Internet.....Oh, and here too

Another shit article. Can we have an unwritten rule about not posting these things? I think we've all done it and we've seen it all before.

Posted

Me too.

Did they pay them to write the bit on the current Astra? No longer a dull company run around my arse. And I can think of about 20 Vauxhall's more deserving of making a 'best Vauxhall cars ever made list' than the fecking Zafira. Anybody reading that might be led to believe OMGALLVAUXHALLSRSHIT due to the slim pickings that have been made.

Posted

I think I can think of more than 20 more deserving to go on a 'best Vauxhalls' list, topped by the 30/98.

Or can we have an unwritten rule that instead of posting messages saying we have seen this before, this is boring etc, we just ignore it if we don't like it? Plenty of people were responding to this, if you don't like it read the EBay tat thread.

On a car related note, were the Cherry's badged 'Europe'? I always thought they were just 'Cherry'?

I think an Evo X owner says it best when he said:

"I think the worse Japanese Motor/Company is Mitsubishi with the Evo X.

I purchased one when they first came out ad it was the worst mistake every, the car was in the garage more times that it was on the road, the mileage that was clocked up was made up from driving o and from the garage. As far as he garage and the company go we were treated disgustingly.
The first time we picked the car up from the garage there was condensation in the light fittings then the radio would change randomly on it's own within 6 months the tyres were bald, the inside trims fell off, the gear knob was the next thing to fall off, then when we washed it the pain work started to peel off...........
This is just a few things that went wrong within the first yr, I would never buy another Mitsubishi car again or ever recommend them. I would rather walk"

I like the bit about the tyres wearing out within 6 months - which is pretty good as you could probably wear them out in a week without too much effort in this 300bhp vehicle. ORL MISTIBINSHITYS ARE SHIT.

The Belmont is the worst Vauxhall because it was stolen the most (allegedly) in about 1988.

Yes. The cherry Europe was the Datsun version of the Alfa arna.

The article generated lots of hits though, maintaining a high organic google position for confused. I don't they cared about the quality of the article to be honest, it might as well have been about cheese. They probably have to send these 'articles' out every few minutes, as part of their Internet marketing campaign.

I've been a passenger in a Xedos 9 and it was a bloody nice place to be, quiet comfortable and it went like stink, certainly a step up from my scabby 1.8 Sierra at the time.

Just because it wasn't popular does not mean its shit, it just means it's shite. Sonds like it's worth having a look at for the Miller cycle engine with the supercharger.

I can see an unproductive morning at work scouring teh internet for Xedos 9s on sale now.....

Indeed, it is the Skysports' style of publicity: Get a large number of know it alls to push out an inordinate amount of shite onto the internet so that people notice you're still there.

It is strange to see the Chevette is listed as one of the greatest Vauxhalls; it has achived infamy in my household for a particularly poor MOD supplied car in the 1980s. It also seems strange that the Chevette was briefly on the market at the same time as the 205, Metro, 5 and Fiesta...

I think I got the article emailed to me because I did a few insurance quotes on confused.com lately (don't ask!). I just found it so cheesy and contrary to my own opinion that I thought we could have some fun with it. Like those books that are called 'The World's Best Supercars' which then contain the inevitable Countach, a TVR Tasmin and Golf GTI. It's pretty obvious that those articles are clearly written by people who must meet insane deadlines and aren't really car people.

On a different note, not all circulars sent by insurance companies are bad. The newsletter I get from Adrian Flux is good enough for me to not unsubscribe.

There you would at least have found a Hakosuka and a 2000GT on the list.
