You might learn to love those wheels after you have washed the car a couple of times, no fiddly-faggly bits to trap the dirt so just a wipe over with the sponge instead of buggering about with a toothbrush and allyacid.

+1.  I'm not buying a Rover with fuggin' cross spokes again as that's what I have to do.

Look forward to some entertaining Bollox reports with this one!

Those Toledos are brilliant, you get all the good features of a Golf Mk.II without having to put up with all the pineapple jokes !

£225? Hyper Bollox Barg. Presume it's just a Vento in a flamenco dress, but , to be honest, is that really a bad thing?

JUST NEEDZ CUT SPRINGZ AND ROOFRAK LOL

More Jetta than Vento, don't forget that this comes from the era when VAG kept the lesser brands one platform behind !

I had an L reg one of these back in the day when it was current. It was a loaner and I was the pilot for a month. Great to drive and a good package overall considering size, space and economy. Rubbish build quality though - bits of the interior kept falling off and the clutch pedal didn't work properly (you'd think the Spaniards could build a clutch pedal - hardly rocket science). Hopefully they sorted out all these woes by the time yours was built.

I'm picking this up tomorrow. I'll try and get a bit of live action collection blog nonsense going, although it'll be dark so all you'll get is a load of shitty blurred smartphone night vision pics!

I've just set up an automatic eBay notification to tell me if any GT/16v ones come up. Looks like there was a cracking one sold for 400 before christmas.

Quite a few 16v Seats of that era had the VW ABF engine, which makes 150bhp stock &170bhp when lightly tuned & de-catted, so they are prime for engine rape by VW types ..... They're good engines.

I've just paid £35 for a 1-hour journey to Leamington Spa!! FUCKING BASTARDS!!!!!

Seemingly not, but i might smash it to bits with a shovel so i feel like i get my moneys worth.

I just got a refund on the ticket then bought one to brum and another from brum to Leamington Spa. 11 quid saved. Wankers.

Shame you didn't go down yesterday, a mate of mine from Brum randomly popped up for a cup of tea but we weren't in, so he went straight back home, he could have given you a lift!

Flipping brilliant, now the seller reckons he can't come and pick me up off the train. Cue half an hour pounding the pavements of Warwick!!

Pretty nice old thing, does it smell like a VW? Is it the 2E or AGG engine (IE does it have a big wank flappy bosh airflow meter and struggle to idle?)

I've always had a soft spot for them, but would have to go del monte on it's ass.

I genuinely really like the look of that, I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts on it.

Lovely!

I think What Car? magazine in the 1990s criticised it for having 'upturned basin looks'. I quite like it for looking a bit different to the other repmobiles of the era. Basically a mark II Jetta with a 'liftback' (to pinch Toyota's use of the name).

Seems flipping ace so far, everything seems to work even the little multifunction thingy. It's quite quick in fact. I'm liking it!!!
