scruff Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I know there's some fellow lorry fanciers on here - a friend of mine has just given me a massive stack of TRUCK and SUPERTRUCK magazines from 1974 to 1992. If you didn't already know this was published by FF of CAR fame and was very much in the same style, particularly in photography during t'80s. If anyone is interested I'll start putting some scans up, they won't be Trigger quality but there's some GR9 stuff to be seen. autofive 1
overrun Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Any racing 'Euro trucks' in there? We all like rigs. Get scannin! I might got to Truckfest in Skegness. Timmy Mallet's gonna be there.

dollywobbler Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Wow. I much prefer the truck racing when the trucks looked like they'd just driven in off the nearest motorway! Thanks for sharing. Can I request something from 1986 please? Anything from 1986.
Split_Pin Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I loved this Mag, which my mum bought for me from about 93 to 95. The 93 big Euro 500bhp test was ace. Early FH and Eurostar, together with a Scanny Centurion in that blue colour. Anything early DAF 95 in all that?
scruff Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 There's full coverage of the 95 and the Seddon and Pegaso launches with the same cab... will take me a while to sort them but I will post up. Got a full set of 1986, DW... any requests? January 1986 by sparkright, on Flickr Twin splitter January 1986 by sparkright, on Flickr CAR nerds may note some familiar names. Spiny Norman Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Brilliant, thanks for sharing those. I bought a couple of issues of TRUCK back in the day because, as you say, they were done by the same people who did the excellent CAR magazine. I had only the most cursory interest in trucks but they were still a damn good read.
Cavcraft Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Quality, love it please keep 'em coming. That picture of the bloke loading the tanker is ace, any H&S bod who sees that now would probably have a coronary. scruff and Banger Kenny 2
Pillock Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 WOWSERS! Love it, more please!! I'm a secret truck pervert, quite like the new stuff but I grew up going out with my mate and his grandfather in the school holidays in his truck... I'm remembering DAF 2500/2800 and eventually a 3300, Volvo F10 and F12s mostly. Lots of local runs subcontracted to a steel firm, the occasional oddity like a wide portacabin thing into London. The company still operates with exactly the same livery but he's retired and it's all newer stuff, I see they still get by purchasing secondhand trucks and running them into the ground since I've never seen anything newer than an '06 plate and still a lot approaching teenagerdom. scruff 1
tooSavvy Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Not news... I guess everyone on here has seen it done >>> This is the sliproad, from Chester-le-Street up onto the A1[M] Northbound, and we are all waiting for green on the lights.... I'm inside lane behind humongeous cab only & selection of 'repmobile' VAG & VX hustling in the outside lane - important fact, this lane peters out as you get up to the A1[M]. CabMan hits it with the green and, well, he TORQUES the TALK up the slip like a fri99inn rocket >> well impressed am I..... absolutely pi55inn myself as desperate reppers are trying to 'kn*bjockey' into the rapidly disappearing tarmac, not having managed to out drag the truck. CreepingJesus Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I've got a good load from 87 to near enough the end. And the 78 Eurotest edition, which my dad bought me 'cos I was a bored 5 year old me! So I blame him for my career choice...cheers dad.I miss that mag, I rarely buy any now, they're not worth the cost.
scruff Posted July 21, 2013 Author Posted July 21, 2013 Glad they have gone down well, I will try and get some more up ASAP. There's some great social history in there - miners strike, Wapping riots, Zeebrugge disaster etc - and the truly brilliant Long Distance Diaries of Phil Llewellin. And of course the lorries themselves are awesomes.Trucks these days definately do not have the same character, I am lucky (?) to work with 80s Fodens, Scammells, T45s, Bedford MJs and TMs every day as HMG are only just pensioning the last old warriors off. You can't beat the crack of a Rolls Eagle and the crunch of a cold Fuller in the morning...
quicksilver Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 Awesome, those are just my kind of trucks. MOAR PLZ!
Wilko220 Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 This thread has big balls and hangs out with the cool people. Thanks v much for taking the time to do the scans.
