AX to grind.

Do I need another car? No.

Do I need one that needs attention? No.

Do I need one that would appear to have just one 'accessory'? No.

Power steering, central locking, five speed box? GTFO.

So the mileage (100,000) is supposedly high because it was towed behind a motorhome with all four wheels on the deck. The only extra seems to be the sunroof but rather laughably it has a towbar fitted, God alone knows what they towed with it, perhaps a kite or something?

The windows last saw water when Noah packed his bags, and as the car resided about 100 yards from the Shropshire Union canal I can only assume they used the water from that to clean the windows with.

It drove back ok, has the sum of two weeks MOT and two weeks tax, a noisy CV joint 'thing' and pretty shitty breaks. And a dent in the wing. And an interior so disgustingly dirty it needs Kim and Aggie to pop down, dear.

I really got it to save it being weighed off which was on the cards, though I do quite like these little things for some perverted reason. if anyone wants a cheap runner get in touch as there's no room at the inn.

Oh shit, I've got to get that in the next week or so too.

Yeah, pez engine. It still has the attachments for an a-frame on the front so anyone with an Iveco campervan could buy it and tow it to Shitefest 2013. He said, sellingly.

I think you did very well. The interior looks like a 2nd class compartment of Northwest Trains, it makes one's brain mushy mushy.

To see the seats when being on LSD must be a fuggin epic trip.

I've done a bit of research on that towing system and it's a great job. Converts the car to a trailer with the brakes functioning. Nice save.

Those 954cc AXs are actually a surprisingly capable little thing.  I ran one as a daily for a while and did a couple of long runs in it.  Light weight means the lack of power isn't too much of an issue, and stupidly widely spaced gear rations mean that 4th is actually quite sensibly geared for motorway cruising.  Did it come with the A-frame?

I was thinking the seat pattern looked like a 90s Magic Eye picture. Unfortunately no-one's brave/stupid enough to put their nose against an 18 year old seat squab to find out, even with the promise of seeing a cool 3D dolphin.

Sadly not, just the metal sticky out bits seen on the front. I suppose it could be using when selling cars with towbars to get home again. It got my bike inside it with the wheels still on  the hatchback shut, which I thought was pretty impressive.

How TF does it do that then? Could your average billy hook the pointy bits out of the front bumper to a couple of bits of angle iron and drag it behind a metro with all the brakes working and whatnot?

If you can imagine that the a frame operates a brake cable, which has a quick release attachment, that connects to a cable that is permenantly fitted to the brake pedal through the bulkhead. Towing vehicle brakes, which in turn operates the brake cable connected to the brake pedal thus applying the brakes! Simples.

I found this outside my estate and was going to post it in the grin thread, but same as you asked

Because we're all to tight round here to advertise vehicles properly.  This is the view the other way from the same spot.

I hope neither of these fine chariots tempt buyers away from your AX Billy

I reckon if you photographed a white dog turd it would be enough to keep buyers away. I might go to work in it tomorrow just for shits and giggles.

eBay.

This will appeal to one of two ebya muntaloids

Type 1 - Those that have a campervan and enjoy paying two lots of road tax and insurance and fuel and shit (rather than buying a caravan and towcar so that they dont have to put the tea cups away when they want to pop down the shop for 10 Bensons and a copy of the Star)

Type 2 - Those that want a cheap insurance friendly little car as their first one or second family motor for missus and the teenage yoof.

Obv, type 1 will want the tow brace fitted, type 2 wont and you could strip that off and punt it on separate as I imagine it will fit a few small tow behind the campavan type cars.

Can you post a price maybe? I've been looking for something with a towbar to tow a small trailer for when I move home as I have nothing big enough in my fleet. What is the tax situation?

YH. WOTS UR ADRES M8?

Tax situation: CRITICAL. Not thought it will last past the end of this month. Family flowers only, donations to Wetherspoons.

£175 saves this 'beauty'. T&C, TGWU, WTF E&OE.

Bargain ! Those little AXs are mingebag-tastic ! Brilliant on fuel, much more reliable than any French car deserves to be and very straightforward to work on. Ideal for commuting, if you can put up with the size and lack of soundproofing.

I would, if I didn't already have five cars, no space and no money !

They're great. I personally hate the driving position but they lap up abuse and will run at motorway speeds all day.

Wow, what a barg! Want to swap it for a Bluebird?

AXs are superb little cars, this one's a bit decadant really though, you need an early 1.0 with 4 gears for a more authentic AX experience (motorways best avoided).  I loved mine when it worked, this should easily find a new home.  They don't even seem to rust very much, I think it's usually engine wear that gets them so as long as it's not puffing blue smoke or drinking lots of oil, it's probably a good one.

What about an Autoshite showmans rig, tow it with a BX and then tow a cut down C15 van behind as a trailer.........  8)

Anyone want this fine piece of automotive par excrement?

Tempting as it is and cheap as it is, I do think I would rather sandpaper my bollocks smooth than drive an AX again.

That said I might be up for one in a couple of months as millado starts his spannering course at college and whilst I woul dhave let him loose on the MicraShed as Im off to look at an AlmeraShed tomorrow that looks rather resplendant in its gold (beige) paint job I would be loath to let him near that.

Something akin to this might actually be ideal for him to cut his spanner monkey teeth on.

Bilster, any chance that AX originated from Benham Citroen in Liverpool? It's the spitting image of my mums old AX (bar the non derv engine)

Also, if you want a bonnet, bumper and 3 (good) tyres/rims and a practically unlimited number of hub caps, there is a collection of AX parts at my parents slowly making there way to the tip!

Sounds ideal for your lad, FT. Though I've heard the CV joints on these are a right PITA. Easier to get a new drive-shaft.

Whatever happens to this - if it does eventually get bridged, pull the carb off first, just to shut SambaS up! :)
