Ford Anglia and Triumph Herald use the same brake shoes.

Ford Anglia, Mini and Reliant Robin all use the same starter motor, but it's cheaper if you get the one for the Reliant.

I didn’t believe that about the Cinq, but its true! Its got a revised 126 engine mounted longways on a 126 transaxle, with the engine spinning in the opposite direction! Amazing. YOU SPIN ME RIGHT ROUND, BABY RIGHT ROUND - LIKE A SHITTY FIAT BUILT IN POLAND

The Daewoooooo Matiz was originally designed as a replacement for the Fiat Cinquecento. They were made at the same ex-FSO factory in Poland.

The Fiat X1/9 shares it's pop up's with the Lancia Stratos, and it's tail lights with the S1 Esprit. Also had a bonded windscreen from launch in 1972.

Someone told me in the pub yesterday that the X1/9 was originally meant to be a Lancia. Is this TRUE?

Never heard that one, but as Fiat and Lancia are/were pretty much the same company designs were shared. the Lancia Montecarlo, for example was the X1/20, the X1/9 being the internal codename for the car. It started life as the Bertone Runabout, and was taken on by Fiat in the late sixties.

Colin Chapman bought one for his daughter, who crashed it...

MGF's still have the usual BL 95.25 PCD so wheels fit the Dolly, TR7 Montego's etc.

Never turn a K series crank with the head removed.. you'll spin the crank bearings and unseat the liners. The long bolts hold all the pieces of the engine together from the head to the sump..

The VVC system on the MGF is far more advanced than Honda's VTEC or BMW's VANOS as it allows minute adjustments to the cam timing.

Rover did over 2 million miles of testing on the MGF, and the cooling system was found to be more than up to the job, even in the desert.

There are 2 different length doors for the Estate versions of the Renault 21.

Theres ALSO two different size front wings between the Door and back of the front wheel arch.. These are for either the transverse 1.7 litre engine, or the INLINE Two litre / 2.1 TD engine...

The Citroen DS uses Rolls Royce suspension*. This must be true as several people have used this as an opening topic of conversation when I am out in my car.

WRONG WAY Sir! The Rolls Royce uses Citroens DS Hydraulic suspension!! Not the other way. The DS had the system in 1955..

Being designed for heavy motorway use it should be no surprise that the Princess was fitted with a whopping 72 litre tank to facilitate fewer fuel stops for the company man on the go.  Combined with competitive fuel economy for the day of 35mpg+ on the motorway you really could get a long way in comfort without ever needing to stop.

You can get 35mpg out of one as well, I have got close to 40 in the past
