I know I posted this in the offered/wanted section but I reckoned that the wider the cover the better. If I have to be lashed with a set of knackered HT leads as punishment then so be it.

After seeing Sam G's Octavia van I realise that some kind of commercial/utility shite is missing from my automotive shite existence.

I have no beer tokens to spare but I do have a pretty decent C reg Grannie 2.8 Ghia auto flavour with added carb topping. The car is solid and is a runner. Small amount of rusty blebs in the usual places but nothing that a good solid weekend couldn't sort out. There is also a large stash of spares to go with the car along with 4 nearly new tyres for the alloys which will need to be fitted. The car is in storage in Essex. Oh, it also has a new battery. Being that it has no ticket or rent it will need to be trailered to be uber legal.

Looking to directly swap for an interesting/unusual small to medium commercial type thing (towbar would be extra yummy). Runner would be great, bodywork is not a major issue but I have no access to welding tackle for anything significant. If it is close to North London/Herts/ Essex then so much the better. Not too new'ish mind. Not a lover of modern shite.

Ummm, Mrs. PBK would not be adverse to an MX5 so that is also an option

Not much of a want list eh and bollocks to the looming CPZ.

Cash might also be an option and I am looking at the £550 mark ovno bearing in mind the spares, etc.

Ta

A word of caution. If you drive in London then you need to consider the LEZ (which my LDV falls foul of, for example).

Sorry if I've misinterpreted this but you've valued a C plate Grannie with no ticket and some spares at £550?

While it might not exactly be the most bargainous bargain, I hardly think it puts him in Purple Helmet territory - especially as we don't how much the stash of spares might be worth.

Fair comment (and no hard feelings) and please note that the 'offers' bit is there to induce haggling. I like haggling

The car itself is solid and a runner and the amount of spares is pretty substantial.

The tyres recently cost me £80 and the battery is brand new and unused. So say £120 for that lot, plus at least £120 for the spares of which 90% is practical, useful and handy to have stuff. So a tad over £300 is overpriced for a decent enough Granny albeit without tax and MOT? I'd really value people's thought on the matter just out of interest.

I try and not fall into that rose tinted bollocks about over-pricing something that you own yourself. I do believe that the inclusive price is worthwhile. Fair enough, if no-one wants the spares I'll flog them on ebay, same with the tyres I suppose. I have some steelies with decent tread on them that can go on to move the car round instead.

Cheers :D

Pictures would help the deal for sure...

I have a C15 van here, 70's design on an 03 plate, however I don't have a lot of use for an unusable granny, well unless she's got a good pension worked out!

Of course if it's a Mk3 (C plate could be either) then they are pretty worthless.

This is the point I was making!

Is it a Mk3?

What are the spares?

No offence taken at all :D

My post illustrates the fact the car could be a bargain or overpriced. I assumed it was a Mk 3. Someone else assumes it's a Mk2.

As we all know Assumption is the mother of all fuck ups.

Spares are interior, bumpers, doors, lights, tons of relays, alloys and more mechanical stuff. Sorry for not making it crystal, it's a Mk2.

Not the best pics in the world but..........

Hmm, it's better than I remember, I might put the price up or keep it :lol::lol::lol:

Yum nice car and well worth the money.

Sorry, I thought it was a shit sack Mark 3, glad all clarified, maybe put it's a Mark 2 in your original post may help potential suitors :D

No worries, good bit of debate/banter :lol::lol:

I just assumed people could read my mind. It's been a long day :lol::lol::lol:

Would people shout and throw rusty car parts at me if I decide to keep it after all?

Mrs. PBK just shimmied past the PC and said 'Ooh, that's a nice car'. To which I replied 'It's my Granada you silly moo'. After I regained consciousness, she said 'Why are you selling it, I like it'. Doh! So much for the MX5 then.

Sorry everyone

Wow man, I'm glad your not selling it, I really was looking into my bank account and weighing up the possibilities. A bloke who works at the same place has an identical Granada in the same colour, though his is a slightly earlier A-reg and his car has later alloys.

That is a bargain. you just don't see these cheap any more. I love them, so long as you stay on top of the rust (and even with that they are not as bad as other fords of the era) and can live with the fuel consumption there's not a lot to fault with them.

I think thats worth £550 all day long. Mk2 Granadas are going mental in value........like all old school Fords. The Sierra is the one to buy now. I dont want to rub anyone up the wrong way but i would defo be keeping that.

(OT) This.... the Sierra is the future cashcow, if I had a barn and some spare cash I'd go round buying about 10 of the bleedin things to stash away and wait for prices to explode. I suspect once the Sierra is done they'll move onto the performance hatches and away from the saloons (i.e. Focii and some later Escorts).

I haven't seen a cheap one for a long time (mind you, my definition of cheap may not necessarily correspond with reality) I kick myself all the time for letting my '76 3.0 ghia go for next to nothing when i was on my arse financially.

cue page after page of links to mk1 granadas for £595.

A nice white room and a couple of pages of purple prose would have that Granada shifted.

she is a lovely car and cant blame you for wanting to keep it.tidy the rear arches and mot youve got 1500 min there.talking about sierras got a soff sitting in my garage waiting for me to mot,may sell if offered a good deal.paul

I have my low owner 89 Sapphire too... Not selling. No docs, no nothing on it, yet I have turned down a wedge of £500 at the door.... And the bloke said "Fair enough mate, you know what you got..... I know where you are if it's still here next year".

Sierras/Sapphies started to claw their values up from about 2 years ago, albeit very slowly. Deffo worth getting one and stashing I think. Most bits still obtainable but I do believe exhausts might be a struggle (might be wrong - often am).

I got a grand for the 2.9i Estate I sold recently, without trying. £1500 is easy pickings for a solid Mk2 Granny.
