Drunk eBay purchases

Just seen the thread on the Picasso got me wondering...what's the worst car you've bought after a pint or two of the old jungle juice?

It's a choice either this..

Or this that I never found out what it was

I really shouldn't go near ebay after a few pints

That blue thing has an upside down Saab grille on it, but I'm guessing that serves about as much clue to its origins as the wheels.

I bid on a Citroen GS a few years ago in the wee small hours then found out the next day I had bought it. From the other end of the country. Turned out to be a gem* although the Fuhrer made me get rid a few months later :evil::evil:

I've had it 8 years.... I am driving it daily. My Wife saw what I was bidding on, liked it, and kept the bids up while I was busy on a jolly........ We're inseparable now (Me and the Land Rover, not the Wife)

Hmmmm...now thats a difficult question, I was sober when I acquired the Picasso, Probably the Mk3 Cortina GT that I got for free from Birmingham a few years back, time I got pulled, paid for storage etc....I'd have bought a working one cheaper.

Now actually agreeing to buy one when under the influence...they have all been good cars :shock: I think I may now have to adjust my purchasing policy

Toyota Supra...don't have a pic at the mo, but that was a LOT of work to get right. Phew!

A pair of bedside tables.

I've seen far too many posts on here to go anywhere near the Motors section after a shandy!! It doesn't help I have actually zero room to keep a second car.

I did once agree to have a free Beetle when drunk, on the condition I restored it. Drove 150 miles to go and get it but couldn't find any metal left in the body to restore so I junked it and never confessed. Gave the local garage the nice wooden steering wheel out of it for bothering to drag it to their workshop.

A knackered 1967 MGB GT. Actually, this was before eBay was invented - I bought it the old fashioned way off a bloke in a pub. The steering wheel was held on with BluTack, which was more than could be said for the rear suspension.

It wasn't a Blue Automatic was it? Cough.

Microsoft Kin GSM. A mobile phone so awful it was only on sale for 49 days. I was very, very drunk rowley_birkin.jpg

My first car, a Mk1 Escort 1300XL 2 door in yellow. Being a late XL it had the six dial dash. £75 was about right for it at the time.

This was bid on in a whisky haze and forgotten about until a flash back at 1pm the following day. Quick check on eBay and sure enough, I had won it. It's out of sight at the moment and therefore out of mind while I work on one of my other land rover projects.

I bought CMS's Volvo after too many beers for lunch. It all made sense. £10 bus ticket, £150 car, £40 petrol. Fuck me its £200 for a fucking ace Volvo PLUS I got to look round Sam's aircraft hanger full of cars! FUCK YEAH! I have never seen so much chod in one place. I did actually jizz in my pants, then scoop it out of my pants with my hands and chuck it over the windscreen of a Volga. Living the dream mofos.

Back in 2007 in a cloudy haze of pot smoke...i thought..why not get an HA Viva...the car club had one nxt door but was absent a clutch pedal..so I bid on one on Trade Me..it was described as mint garaged all its life.. usual lies..but it was at the other end of NZ nth island..so paid $500 plus $300 shipping..when it arrived it was a completely rusty non runner...i cudnt believe how stupid Id been again..and i flicked it to a father and sons project who gave me $300..duh,,,

Ahhhh the blue thing that was an interesting purchase. I thought wow that looks like fun and ended up buying it. I can't remember how much or even where it came from. I think it was the midlands somewhere and the guy had a collection of mk2 jag's. It had ford anglia running gear with Morris minor front suspension and the rear end was a really strange set up. I did get it home and managed to get it running but the lack of paperwork and a visible chassis number put paid to the project. The dvla inspected it and told me it needed an sva, which it had no chance of ever passing. The bodywork was all steel box section with ally panels. I really should give up the beer. I have got better recently though as at one point I was buying a car a week. The 6 wheel drive thornycroft fire engine was another one of those silly ideas. I left a bid of 200 quid on it at a plant auction and ended up with it. A straight 8 rolls royce engine and six wheel drive a quality piece of kit. I only drove it once as it had to run off a fuel can and did a gallon of petrol just getting out of the garden and onto the lorry when I sold it

Jeezus that is seriously one of the worst looking cars I have ever seen! Inspired work.

That blue thing with the 95/96 grille is magnificent.

As for myself, I've got no excuse. I was sober when I bought the KV in my avatar on eBay.

I think I can top that. It was during my serious drink/Class A phase that I bought this....

legodromeracers.jpg

A publicity model and replica of the above car. I couldn't fit in it because the cockpit was only 2' long and its only redeeming feature was the Jaguar pepperpot alloys fitted to it. I can't remember what I did with it but odds on I dumped it in a lock up somewhere.

I actually feel better for seeing that blue thing Panhard bought - no matter what drunken silliness I may indulge in on eBay in the future (although I have been trying to be good lately) I can always tell myself "it could have been worse".

My worst alcohol-influenced eBay purchases were probably this

and this

The Bond was bought from Leicester and dragged home on a trailer. It was a runner, but the clutch was seized solid - I drove it on the road once, by starting it in gear, frightened myself shitless, and stuck it in the shed where it stayed until I put it back on eBay and a bloke from Cornwall bought it.

The Roadrunner was actually a bloody good truck, T&T'd and with the 150bhp Cummins turbo engine it went like the clappers, but I had absolutely no use for it whatsoever. I kept it for a while though as it was a fun thing to roar about in - it did about 20mpg, which wasn't bad for its size, and diesel was cheaper then.
