interestingly, they're going through the whole range of languages!

 

When I first spotted this at 5 am it was already a problem. It would all have been gone and binned, IP address banned etc by 5.05 - and most people would have been none the wiser.

 

You need probably three people who are on most of the time at different times of the day to delete spam and block the posters. Can't be difficult, there are enough of us volunteering to do it.

I agree, the forum settings need to be changed, otherwise there could be hundreds of mods constantly deleting posts.

Short term fix:

 

Stop all new signups until further notice

Delete spam users

Delete spam posts.

 

Now with the playing field level once more, a more robust anti-spam sign up procedure can be put in place.

Moderators are bad news, I suggest that whoever is the moderator agrees to only moderate obvious spambots, i.e carry on doing what happens already. Maybe they could stay anonymous as well. That way members themselves will still be responsible entirely for moderating themselves and not posting up pages and pages of shit.

I'll just suggest that perhaps occasionally they should do a little tidying up. For example the odd 'funny' or annoying things has it's own thread, ditto questions about mechanics, what kind of shite to buy etc, when there are already threads for these things.
