Just driven the xantia in proper darkness for the first time!

 

 

2 bulbs are out that I can see, and I'm not tearing the dash out to replace 2 bulbs!

 

 

The coloured buttons in the centre ruin the look imo. Its lovely having light up window switches though, not had those for years!

 

Excuse the shit second pic, it wouldn't focus as it was too dark!

Do you have the option to manual focus?

 

Quickest way would be shine a torch on the dash and use the autofocus to focus on the light spot. Whilst keeping the camera still (use a tripod), switch it to manual focus so it keeps that current position and take the picture.

How do you take these pictures?

 

Confuses the fuck out of my fancy-pants Canon camera.

 

Turn interior light on so it's able to focus.

Half press the shutter button to lock the focus, they usually beep but don't take a photo. Keep it held halfway in.

Turn off the interior light. Press shutter the rest of the way.

That second needle confused me for years on the missus's old Ka. I could never work out why it would be there one day and not the next..  it was like a ghost needle.

 

Then one day I realised it would show up more at night....

 

Then a few months later my world was wrecked when I realised it was a fucking shadow from the needle stop instead of something sinister

The safrane has a very similar dashboard but with a second digital display. I wouldn't call it boring though.. it's totally retro! I think it's great myself.

 

I was going to get a photo of it last night but the neighbours girl had her audi parked next to it and rather than tempt fate I thought I'd wait.

Not everyone would agree with you there but its down to personal taste. I personally love them but there are many out there who hate them (like me when something bloody breaks lol).

 

The phase1 3L v6 was nice... pneumatic suspension, inflatable cusions in the seats... it had everything. There is a biturbo 4x4 version out there too but it's RHD only. I'd still like to get my hands on one and convert it... but what a pain in the arse that would be lol. It would be easier to move to europe..
