cobblers Posted October 23, 2017 Posted October 23, 2017 I tried to get the (phone) camera to focus on the dash rather than the road, but it wouldn't have it.This is halfway down my commute, I can't moan really. mat_the_cat, uk_senator, Richard and 7 others 10

willswitchengage Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 2001 Ford Ka. Highlights how stupid a lot of modern car instruments are are. Most people will barely take that above 30, let alone to 140.
dougiefourspeed Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Highlights how stupid a lot of modern car instruments are are. Most people will barely take that above 30, let alone to 140.I think it’s simply because Ford used the same speedo unit on the Ka as they did in the Escort Cosworth or something. I’m sure someone out there has built some sort of insane Ka purely to get that needle all the way to 140.

Zelandeth Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Interesting, not one I've ever seen before!
panhard65 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Pretty crap dash in the 202 as it only has a speedo fuel gauge and ammeter all in one with only one bulb to illuminate it. The oil light is pretty bright though. Magnificent Rustbucket, uk_senator, Conrad D. Conelrad and 1 other 4
Zelandeth Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Here's my main form of transport from while I was on holiday... 2015 Ford Explorer. Also had a quick rummage around on my PC... We've got: 1980 VW T25 1.6CT Camper van. 1996 Peugeot 306 Xnd. 1993 Vauxhall Corsa 1.5TD LS. 1998 Jaguar XJ8 (belonged to a friend, but I borrowed it from time to time). 2007 Citroen C1 (work pool cars - my experiences with which actually lead to me buying my 107). Last one for now, 2003 Ford Fusion Zetec - one of my parent's cars. Sadly the last of theirs I think I got a night shot of. Don't think I did with any of the later ones they had. Realised that I don't have one of these for the Saab or 107, I should fix that... Edit: Found some from a couple of vans I've hired over the last few years... 2005 Renault Traffic. 2014 Mercedes Sprinter. ...Should be one floating around for the 2015 Transit which I had shortly after that Sprinter...but I've not figured out what I did with that file yet. Will add it when it turns up. uk_senator, Magnificent Rustbucket and nacho man 3

Pillock Posted November 10, 2017 Posted November 10, 2017 It can't possibly be.The future happens at 88mph, that speedo only goes to 85. It's like they thought BTTF was a documentary... fraybentos 1

stormee Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 I am a VW/Audi guy and I like the 80s GL and above clocks. I understand spec differences and why there are differences in clocks specs. But HOW could VW spec a camping van made for holidays and long distances with only this T3 (T25 isn't) dash with only this poor instrumentation? A whole fullsize space for rev counter etc. only displaying a fuel gauge, were you joking? Not even a clock? Piech and Lopez (later), did they do a trip to Finland with this crappy dash? 10 Deutsche scheiß-Mark saved on this!
Zelandeth Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 In fairness to my VW, it started life as a panel Van and was later converted into a camper...and it was only the 1.6 so obviously was the poverty spec!
Zelandeth Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Just been out to snap a couple more of my fleet, the Skoda now has moved on to a new home a couple of miles down the road. First off, here's the instrument panel on the Saab (couldn't get a wider shot due to junk currently being stacked in the driver's seat - I'll try to arrange that shortly). I still reckon that this has got to be one of the best executed examples of a front-lit instrument panel ever. The camera makes it look quite a bit dimmer at the edges than it really is in person - it's actually quite a bit more even in person. Next up is the 107 - which is basically the same as the works C1 mentioned earlier, albeit with slightly different heater control graphics on account of this one having A/C. The heads up display looks waaaaay brighter in the camera than it is in person - the reason it's there at all is that this car doesn't have a temperature gauge on the dash, and that really bothers me. It's a total gimmick otherwise, though I have actually found that having the speedo hovering in my peripheral vision is actually quite handy on the motorway as it lets me keep my eyes on the road for more time. Last one for now, here's a Series 1 Citroen Xantia - being in Activa trim, pretty much all the glowy buttons save for the cruise control (and I think the TrafficMaster system) are populated. Still scratching my head why cruise wasn't even an option on the Activa. (The Merc isn't ours, it's a works demo...and is honestly carp for what it costs). Here's a closeup of the instrument panel itself... ...and this simply because it's just such a wonderful little 1990s snapshot. Conrad D. Conelrad, Heidel_Kakao, Magnificent Rustbucket and 1 other 4

Zelandeth Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 The citroen/peugeot keypad instantly made me think of 1111. Not this one! ...I give it about a week before I manage to get myself stuck somewhere by forgetting the code.

kinkersaab Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 You can change then to whatever you want, it must have been a motor trade thing to change them to 1111 when the came into trade.
Zelandeth Posted November 19, 2017 Posted November 19, 2017 Seem to recall that was the default code they came with when new.
Ghosty Posted November 20, 2017 Posted November 20, 2017 Paceman centre clock looks like it's exactly the same part as from the facelift R56 Cooper. Magnificent Rustbucket 1

SiC Posted February 15, 2018 Posted February 15, 2018 IMG_2454.JPG New to me Spaceship Civic. One’s too many, ten’s not enough!I reckon Sport trim (if 5 door) and 2009+ mild facelift. The non shiny dash and up+down shift indicator means 2009+. HID lights (colour and lack of light height adjusters) but only single zone climate (only one temp control on the radio display) and no cruise control (on the right controls on the wheel) & auto wipers (because no adjuster on right stalk) means Sports trim. Of course petrol too. Yes I am a bit sad. Or have some Hendry skills. brandersnatch and Hendry 2
