Great. Join the list of ebay timewasters. Words fail me once again.

Ah yes, that's right, you must be perfect yes? Never done anything wrong? Or just feel the need to slate people to make yourself feel better. Get real. I already said if I don't have the car, I will pay the blokes fees even though he will get them back from ebay, so he will be £25 better off anyway, so please, spare me the sarcastic comments because its childish. People make mistakes, its human nature.

Sorry for that little rant everyone

his fees will probably be more than 25 quid

why waste that money?, just go and pick it up

Posted

Can't you claim most of the fee back if both sides agree not to complete the transaction?

Posted

You might refund the seller, but that still leaves him with a car he thought was sold but is in fact not at all sold. We've all done silly things on Ebay but I'm pretty sure most of us on here would do our level best to avoid mucking people about. We've all been on the receiving end and it's the endless stream of twunts who make selling a car an utter pain in the arse.

LOL!

Sure I make plenty of mistakes. Just fed up with people not thinking before they click. It's not rocket science.

Half the grumpy thread is people talking about being messed around on ebay.

Yeah and do they get offered money for being messed about? I doubt it, because most of the ebay messers don't give a toss, whereas I genuinely feel quite bad now. To be honest I don't see how its any worse to all the ebay sellers who list an auction and then remove said item when they get a buy it now offer in a message, which means no one else had a fair chance of bidding, and they get out of paying final value fees. Like I said, no one is perfect.

I have a trailer here in the front garden, If you can fix the brake linkage on it and weld some brackets on to fix the mudguards back on, you can borrow it for free. You will need a light board for it though. Its big enough for a Trabi. However if you break it you fix/replace it. how does that sound?

That offer is properly decent of you, I just don't have a car with a towbar and also don't know of anyone either so that's also out the window right now! Plus its over 600 mile round trip, would end up costing me more than a recovery man who is potentially already coming this way. Hopefull ill sort something as I don't want to let the guy down.

Posted

Buy it.

Everyone should have a Trabby once...

but probably only once.

Having owned one for 6 years I certainly don't want another!

but there's a few folk on here that will take it off your hands in a while.

I suspect you won't lose any money on it.

Forgive me, I don't normally join in on these little spats, but in this instance I feel I must.

6 years ago I sold a Mk1 Golf top a lad on Ebay, he turned up, decided he didn't like it at that price etc, etc....gave me £30 for fees and said sorry and went away again....seems fair does it?

well it's not, I had to take the day off waiting for him, I was unable to use the expected money to sort out some problems, which guess what, thats why I was selling the car in the first place for, refunded fees and another wasted week didn't mean I wasn't out of pocket....so if you can't afford to buy it or collect it yourself then don't waste peoples time, find out before presssing the button if you can afford the shipley fees not after words. as for friends....well it's you that bid on it.

And yes I've made loads of fuck ups in my life, but I never bought anything on ebay that I didn't pay for or collect.

I appologise if I upset any sensabilities on here with this but this is the wrong attitude to take towards the seller, who has been let down badly by your 'enthusiasum'

rant over.

Sorry but it's nothing like your situation, i'm not making anyone take a day off work am I? I dont know why you felt the need to say that even though its not the same thing. Like I said, yes I might potentially be cancelling a transaction, why do you still feel the need to get involved?

Posted

if you want to come via Sussex, I'll lend you an A frame. And trailer board. For free. I'll even teach you how to use it -if you're not familiar.

Posted

Stick the ebay details up on here, some shiter may be interested in buying it instead.

Posted

Thanks Tayne, I'm glad I wasn't misunderstood by everybody.....

T1300, the reason I commented was because I feel that your attitude is wrong, as your fond of pointing out we are all different etc, etc....surely you should show some contrition at the very least, rather than the mercenary way you seem to think is an acceptable way to sort it out.......maybe it is because I am older than most on here, but it is just plain wrong to buy it and just drop out 'because'........

still..... no doubt you'll write another reply saying how it not my business etc, can I therefore respectfully ask that if you can't think before you act, at least think before you write, you do not have the monopoly on being offended on here by things people say.

Posted

Well like I said, I didn't intentionally bid to mess someone around did I?! Jesus!

If my friend didn't change HIS mind then I would be paying for it ASAP. I just can't justify it by myself otherwise. I only bid at that price because 2 of us were buying it.

And if anyone is interested instead its a runner, no tax, or test, been stood for a little while, its UK registered on an S reg, and the guy has loads of spares for it... £252. And its in north Yorkshire

Posted

If anyone up North does want it, I could come through North Yorkshire on my way home and A-Frame it up home next week.

WVM's point was that merely getting the eBay fees back doesn't necessarily make it all ok.

The Trabant vendor may be about to loose free storage, getting grief from his mrs or need the cash to pay a final demand.

And a refund of an eBay fee won't sort those things out.

Right now he's being messed about about by you.

This.

This is what I meant by my earlier not-so-polite posts.

Also, did you honour this part of the listing?

you bid to buy 50 pounds non refundable deposit in 1 hour of end of auction

What are you, some dumb kid?

The guy's responding to a thread that you posted on a public forum!

Besides which, he's made valid points concerning the topic, so if you don't want people posting, don't start a thread inviting them to do so, but as you have started one, respect that people can make posts that you don't have to be in full agreement with.

That apart, stop fucking whining and behave like an adult, ie, honour your commitment, the one you made when you BOUGHT the car!

Posted

north yorkshire is a big place

according to the seller's location the car is in York

have you actually got any delivery quotes yet?

or are you just assuming it will cost X to deliver?

you maybe surprised how cheap a lightweight, short wheel base, vehicle is to move

Posted

Oh dear, I had the feeling this wasn't going to end well, Taynes point is exactly how i feel about the situation, You've bid on the car and won it, meanwhile the seller is now happy that he has the space in is garage/garden, a weight has been lifted from his shoulders, he can now use to money to pay for a holiday, home repairs, visit sick child in hospital and then you come along and say "SOZ M8 but i don't have any money and don't really want it, here have 25 quid to make it all better"...

Doesn't really work does it. Sorry but can you see where we are coming from?

Posted

Well that all went spectaculary t*ts up rather quickly.

Posted

Yes I have his postcode.and put that on shiply, that's why I know its 300 miles on the dot.

I'll give up now. I'll sort it out. This is the last of my posts on this thread. Typical insults. Cheers to the rest of you lot who have offered help etc it's much appreciated, and it's what forums should be about, not just slagging off, which is nice, as if it wasn't for my mate being a fuckwit I would have the car yet I'm getting all the shit, but nevermind, this is the internet after all, I'm used to it :)

And autofive, I have 9 quotes come through on shiply so far.

Posted

I have some sympathy, obviously your mate has breezeblocks for brain cells, but my sympathies are with the seller, having been in a similar situation myself. You bid, you win, you buy.end of story.

In any other auction scenario, you'd be forced to cough up, or find yourself being taken to petty debts court, Ebay buyers think that it's amusing to piss people about, and, unfortunatley Ebay don't seem inclined to stamp out the practice.
