Autoshiteing in Morocco!

Hiya All, new member here. Krujoe's little brother!

Ive been a fan of your website since I started collecting 205s at the age of 17. I'm sure you have all heard of him fixing his shite with 205 parts? Well I was his supplier.

I have recently been on holiday to Morocco and Krujoe told me to keep an eye out for Autoshite for him to post on here but there is too much good shite to simply hand over to him, and I needed to stop putting it off and get myself onto Autoshite. So here it is.

Old Mercs are the main long-distance taxis in most of the country. Have seen them with anything from 250000 miles to 980000 miles on the clock, just worn in

Er-richidia Taxi station. I ask you to spot anything other than Mercs. Impossible!

Think the roof is painted black to cover up the shabby repairs.

Krujoe said you guys would appreciate this cat picture: Cant' think why??!!

Nearly wet myself when I spotted this. For Peugeot fans, how often do you spot these? Of the 2 and a half years I spent constantly trawling eBay I only ever saw one other of of these Lacoste 205s. 1.4 'suitcase engine, 84000km on the clock and a friendly old Frenchman as an owner, he paid 1100 euros in France for it last year.

Tow-truck. Saw several of these, wouldn't want to test them with anything heavier than a go-kart though.

If you are too decrepit to ride your scooter the answer would generally be to give up riding it. The Moroccans believe adding stabilizers is the answer. Each to their own...

ABS?? Yeh, Right.

A fellow Yorkshireman I met in Morocco. I don't think I have ever seen a paint-boj this bad.

These old Berliet trucks are awesome, bomb-proof and cheap. Apparently you can pick one up for around £2-3K in Morocco.

Spotted this Mark 1 Tranny in Cascades D'Ozoud. Obviously still a workhorse.

Lovely old Renault :D

I was so cramped sat in the 3rd row in this old 504 estate with 2 other people, I couldn't get my camera into a position where I could take a picture that fully illustrated the fact that there was, in total, 11 of us in there. More sardines than you get in your average tin.

So entrepreneurial are the 504 taxi drivers they fabricate frames to fit over the handbrake as a seat, in order to sit an extra person (or 2) in the front.

Clutch on this one was all but fcuked. He crashed-boxed the old lady with such delicacy it indicated that he probably had the experience of having been doing it for some months already.

504s! :P

Another Merc...

Spotted out in one of the desert towns:

Thought I would save the best till last. Shame my camera was low on battery and wouldn't focus properly. Spotted in a rubble heap in Todra Gorge, if any of you guys are going that way, call in and get some good high-res photos for me would ya??

Well that's it for my first ever post on Autoshite, hope I provided sufficient Shite to be worthy of your ranks! 8)

Epic first post! The condition of some of those cars is remarkable, and they keep going!, amazing.

You sound like you'll fit in perfectly Krujoe Junior.

Great shots. So do they have any form of MOT at all?

Yeh they check the brakes and tyres every 2 years.

Top spotting.

If you want a Renault 4 and a scenic roadtrip back then Morocco is the place to go, mental note made ;)

Yeh the place was littered with them! In the most part it is a dry and dusty country so the cars last a lot longer before rotting to bits. The 504s and 205s I saw were in good nick rust-wise which is a rarity in this country, so its certainly the place to go if you want some French LHD shite to import.

Erm.. there's plenty in France, bruv! Check out MrBollox's posts in the eBay thread.

They look like 406 alloys, with that dodgy offset going on. But they're five stud hubs, so probably wheel trims...

Are you gonna let 'em know your first name? You can call me Joe on here, they all know that's my name. (Not hard to guess, to be fair!)

Oh, and just out of interest, how many sardines are there in a tin?

For those who want to know me on first name basis my first name is Will.

KruJoe: Oh, and just out of interest, how many sardines are there in a tin?

Will somebody research this an let us know? I cant find the answer with a quick Google search. Count up next time you have Sardines and let us all know, Im sure it will make my brothers day.

Ey up. Them 504s are 505s.

That's probably about the best start to an Autoshite posting 'career' possible. Welcome along.

Bonsoir & bienvenu explosive-cabbage (er?), what a great start!

Thanks guys! I didnt even see the bonnet catch on that old ford, you lot have an eye for detail.

Welcome to the fold Will. Some top shite spotting there. It remind me alot of Syria (before all the fighting  ) when a young me and Fatha_Sterling, who is from there, went to visit family. Cars in Arab lands tend to be driven into the ground, bodged up and driven into the ground again! Usually after a while, they are dumped outside somewhere until the need to use it again arises.

When I was Kuwait, seeing what we would consider as executive cars/cars of distinction such as big Mercs, BMW 750IL/850s and Jaguar XKRs dumped by the side of the road was pretty much normal, same cars also seen in scatched up/bodged up conditions aswell was normal. I think I have pics somewhere so I shall get them up at some point.

The blue thing with the 'turbo' graphics on the door is a Renault 18 I'm sure. But great pics anyway.

Do they have many cars in good condition (like the white 205) or are they all mega-owner examples?

Do Renault or PSA actually assemble cars in Morocco, I know they do in quite a few other African/Middle East states - you could buy a new 504 in Nigeria until quite recently.
