I'd be interested to know what the price of the camper is as well, as Mrs Ruff desperately wants a caravan and I haven't got anything capable of towing such a thing.

I'll give them a call on Tuesday. I assume it will be more than the £500 I hinted I'd be willing to pay.

Very cheeky offer I know they fetch a mint done up. But I have seen sub £500 one's on ebay up this way.

Unless there's summert special about that MR2, he'll be stuck with it for a while at that price. Mine was little over half that, and the panels are (almost) all the same colour.

Freight Rover, they're keeping that one

One of three 205s that came in at same time.

Spent a bit of time up the scrapyard last week, here are some pictures:

Tried to buy this, but it's not for sale on the grounds Mark is buying one and wants this for spares

Fancy building a Tornado from parts?

This is sad, an old neighbour was using it daily until 2008 when it came off the road for renovation, I guess funds or health or motivation got the better of them. He was always welding up old Capris when I was a kid but must be in his 70s now

You wouldn't think there would be anything of use in this but you'd be wrong. For a start I need all the screws that hold the dash and trim in for my Cosworth.

This made me very happy, I found it in one of the sheds where it has been hiding since 2005 when I scrapped my Escort Si... leather steering wheel. Just need a MK5 Si to put it on

the dash should be fine, remember the sapphire cosworths were only ghia spec cars so nothing bespoke to the cosworth model except the rs ecu cover which replaces the passenger side bin insert but iirc only the 3 door cosworth came with the rs one sapphires got the plain one, im taking the dash in the picture was from a ghia/xr4x4 seeming though it has the door and light "computer display"?, the dash carcass designs are the same but with different inserts depending on trim level on 87 - 91 models before they became the hooded dash type

The dash in the picture is from a Sapphire Cosworth.Got all dash parts from North Yorkshire RS spares so I hope they are the proper job. I forgot to pick up the dash surround. No problem going back I guess.

ahh get ya got confused and thought you'd pulled the dash out of a scrapper   well what you say "the proper job" the display for the doors open and lights is the same as the ghia/xr4x4 anyway so even if it was from these models it would be proper if you get where im coming from, this picture is from the xr4x4 model in 1989/90 cars model range

this picture is a 2wd sapphire cosworth

Ooh that steering wheel is the one I want for mine! Cant see first pic tho.

I'm gunna pull that dash out of the scrapper and compare them.. there is the possibility that it is saveavble.... even though I have one already

Posted

if it is decent condition you will find you have a nice spare

this is from a sapphire ghia its for sale on ebay at the moment, the dash top looks 87-91 and the lowers look incorrect they look taken from a 91 facelift hooded dash type to me, but you can see what im onabout with display

The scrapyard I visited to get the bits off that Princess had some interesting long term residents I forgot to tell people about, this may be a suitable place to mention them.  The yard is http://www.beechwoodspares.co.uk/ in Market Weighton and the chaps that work there seem to know their stuff and were super helpful and sensible on prices, it was actually a pleasure to do business with them so they have a big thumbs up from me if you're in their neck of the woods.

Of interest to shiters, beyond the regular content that dated back to the early nineties and formed the bulk of the yard there was a nice little traditional old-stuff-corner which included, from memory:

Austin Allegro - Pageant blue with blue interior.  Bent roof but may have had some useful spares.

Rover P5 - Looked pretty rotten, as they usually do, but had some trim intact.

Morris Oxford - Farina type, I know it was a Morris because it had the badge on the bonnet.  Bit crispy.

Austin A40 Farina - Series one with the wavy grille, seemed mostly intact, but was buried in brambles.

Riley 4/90 - another Farina bodied car and looked pretty much complete.  I wonder if it was there to stay rather than as a breaker, they're not exactly common.

Rover P6 - looked utterly shagged, as scrapyard P6s always do.

I can't bring anything else to mind that I spotted as my main interest was the rotten Princess I picked over.  Sorry for the lack of pictures, I didn't take my camera with me.

Buy it............problem solved

I wouldn't mind owning a v6 anal probe just so I've owned one

I love them, my Dad has the same car in white, and it's been sat around the same length of time too.

£300 buys the red one.

I keep trying to negotiate some space at the scrapyard... so far no luck.

She been sat a number of years apparently.

OSR Caliper seized too an hour to load on John said.

Couldn't unsieze so had to lift down with forklift... Fired straight up with a new battery, ran for an houre held temp, fan cuts in.

Clutch seized, slave cylinder leaked all fluid out into foot well so couldn't drive Grrr.

Not sure what to do but I may have a plan. It's scrap really, plus now the exhaust is blowing.

It's a Shame bout that probe, don't really see them around now

I know you have a few cars already, but one more couldn't hurt....A Probe V6 is one of the best sounding cars of the '90s, and this one doesn't even appear rusty. Do it. For Queen and Cuntry.

The car is in LB Metals Londonderry North Yorkshire no way I can take it on Not sure what I was thinking Would love it though A few parts may find their way on to my Dads one. nb Full stop or any other punctuation does not work on my phone unless I rotate the phone 90 degrees and doing so often crashes the phone exclamtion mark
