This was a job lot, from the era when Matell were releasing old Corgi castings as their own;

20210524_13483420210524_13484220210524_13492520210524_134929

Still branded Corgi underneath...

20210524_134935

It came with several unboxed 1:64 versions, this one was obviously sold as a Hot Wheels...

20210524_13502920210524_135033

...but were the others, including this mini-me?

20210524_13514420210524_13505920210524_135158

Also in the box was this minty Buttons Matchbox Porsche

20210524_13523020210524_135240

A Corgi 356 (I have one of these in the half-finished project box somewhere)

And lastly a Hongwell Merc SL

You just know you're going to have to do a video clip of the Hema Gauge beeping away

It's a shame I sold my Scirocco on recently, as had my time with it

You should race your Scirocco against the Beetle and film the din.  Might have to lock the front wheels straight though!

The Matchbox 800 was one of my lost  favourites too. Picked up this replacement last year, along with a Mercedes playing a similar role.

Isn't that made of thicker metal than an actual Dyane van?

A particular childhood favourite of mine - had a lye and an orange one, all procured from Pitsea market as a kid!

I've never seen any of those XJR-9 before, big or small.

I only have this one, seems to be the most common.  It's one of the Castrol Jaguar Racing XJR-9 Daytona 24-hour winning pair.  Looks to be 1:43 scale.  Do you have that one in your collection as well?

20210524_134843634_iOS.thumb.jpg.d09c09eb07eebba7adb6f2ceffb21ea3.jpg

Behind it is a Scalextric SRS 1:32 slot car (discoloured with age) in the Le Mans 24-hour Silk Cut livery that also took the win.  Doris quite fancies the driver, might be Johnny Dumfries (the Marquess of Bute), as she heard he was loaded.

Arrived today....

Yet more spending ...but this one was a tick-box and a half.  It's the Jimson (Hong Kong) Vauxhall Victor FC 101.  Danny Zulu couldn't believe it and popped straight over for a nose.

20210524_150953971_iOS.thumb.jpg.78e3c8c849e2a145fdbec25a5b530d84.jpg

It has an opening thing :

20210524_151054547_iOS.thumb.jpg.36deb4cf9c1fa4d36c48e0a7c78e426e.jpg

AND A DAG !

20210524_151021991_iOS.thumb.jpg.55ceef037bfd1c43aaf91d9504cd65e2.jpg

Usually these go for silly money but saw this last week missing the rear bumper and has a hinge broken.  The Victor 101 has not been modelled by many firms, and having a screwed-home base with all-plastic construction means this could* go chasing about the slot track if it so wishes.

A Who Did it Worse roadshow with the Dinky Victor 101 :

20210524_151505496_iOS.thumb.jpg.dbbb83705dedd8247294ca7bdc9a2a7c.jpg

Jimson even did a best-effort copy of the way-too-wide valve cover from the Dinky

20210524_151441961_iOS.thumb.jpg.3b5188f424f66346e6d3d09d10267a3e.jpg

The Dinky Victor measures to 1:43 scale.  The Jimson Victor measures to 1:30 scale

What was the point of all the fuss?  This was my old Victor Estate, owned 2005-09 :

The vendor of the Victor threw this in the box as a freebee 😎

It's brill!   10½ inches of battery-powered Hong Kong effort, from the early 1970s I assume.  Not been able to determine what it is modelled after (any ideas?), but it has shades of International Harvester.  Will see if it can be coaxed back to life.

We used to get Majorettes at our local chemists strangely. I used to get Tonsillitis a lot until they whipped them out and one of the perks of going to get the prescription was that I used to get treated to a Majorette model.

When I had my tonsils out,I got a Corgi Green Hornet car which I managed to leave at the hospital. My Dad couldn't find another one,so I got a Corgi Capri Dragster instead.I managed to get another Green Hornet a few years back,& a replacement for the replacement 😁20210524_175057.thumb.jpg.f2854ef2b7e3821e118fe5f9b6175eed.jpg

I don't think the Scirocco works, but...

I didn't capture the pitiful noise emitted as it runs out of steam

I've just been reunited with my Capri Dragster, one of the best models they ever did I think.

Two of the MR2s are unclaimed as yet, shout up if you want one.

Is that a Matchbox CLA Shooting Brake? I may need one of those, wonder if they did it in appliance white...

I never had any matchbox cars before reading this tread- anyway, here's my haul from yesterday

I also installed a towbar on my Dodge Coronet..

(Won't let me add picture, just imagine a bent paperclip glued into a hole)

... So that it can tow the matching trailer!

In my continuing quest to aquire every model of Volvo C30 ever produced I got this Saico 1/43 for the amazingly cheap £5.99!

IMG_2667.thumb.JPG.bfc556496ebb0c17c24278b2a0c21463.JPG

Here it is with a couple of the superior Cararama models in the same scale...

IMG_2668.thumb.JPG.afb6ae9687a607f860a21f114f562ca3.JPG

Looks ok from the front, but the door mirrors look far too small...

IMG_2670.thumb.JPG.0014f892f1981d98ced0a0150d7de3bc.JPG

Sunroof is slightly too square too...

IMG_2669.thumb.JPG.7b26f24d7b3ce10a81b1c8e6f323e1df.JPG

From the back, the bumper doesn't stick out far enough from the hatch...

Cararama are really very good.

I nearly managed to buy a Cararama 1/24 which I'm pretty sure the Welly is a (good) copy of on Italian ebay. It was very annoying as it had been relisted several times with no bids and due to extra Brexit tax and very costly postage as well as a hefty starting price, I'd held off, then when I did bid on it I was outbid by a Euro haha...

Lastly if anyone sees any Matchbox C30s for cheap (less than £10) I would be interested as even though they are not a really accurate model, I really like them and need some more...

It is indeed; that one was spoken for, and in fact has now been posted, but there may be some left.  I've only seen them in black, which of course doesn't preclude a future issue in white.  Or you could have a black one and paint it.

Talking of videos

Resurrecting this, is what kept me out the pub this evening

Resurrected - after a tickle from the soldering iron, new wiring, motor and gearing unseized and lubricated.  Now makes a right din.  First delivery was a shipment of FAB1.

Wife was impressed for all of five minutes.
