Shite in Miniature II

No only Polistil. They also made an estate one, I have both. It must be a rare instance of a toy maker releasing 2 body styles of the same car (until Corgi Classics et al with the myriad variations of the Minor came along).

The Mini is the only other one I can think of just now?

Can't remember if John milner used his duece coupe to tow his rail or a truck/ wagon in more American graffiti.

Seem to recall at least one scene in the pit lane/area.

It's a bit more than that.  Both were supplied by George Barris for Universal Studios.  The car rolled in Graffiti was the spare backup car used in Blacktop

For many years George Barris was the go-to guy for supplying customised cars, including the Adam West Batmobile & the Monkees customised Pontiac GTO.

IIRC he still had the Deuce but his rail was towed by a pickup, most likely driven by another team member.  I think it had a camper back on it, like Clint's in Any Which Way You Can.

Incidentally the little purple HW that hasn't been identified yet is stamped underneath "32 Ford Vicky", the body style being known as a Victoria originally.

When did you get the Citation Turbo kit?

Yellow one as recently as 2017, ugly bodykitted version back in 2010. Might have a go at the former this year.

Oh sorry, somehow I managed to miss your answer.

That specific one is the re-tooled version and was released in 2002. Says wiki

Arrivals, from Royal Mail on a Sunday!

This came all the way from Barcelona

20210103_100743.thumb.jpg.d8b5d9ef6f922bc91e13662ee16cead4.jpg

And it has the trailer

20210103_100725.thumb.jpg.3cb46ed9f08ae491de0a2b743cabafce.jpg20210103_101044.thumb.jpg.0945c377f468863cec9824c106a41905.jpg20210103_101030.thumb.jpg.e07148be05373944445455818ff01df6.jpg

in among a job lot of quite badly corroded Matchbox was this Field Car that has managed to retain its roof - also has an early spare wheel on a Superfast car, not a great expert on these so might be normal.

20210103_102216.thumb.jpg.b8eccb2b927f848ec29b3dbff099f5e8.jpg

Lastly, the thing that actually made me exclaim when I saw it, this Matchbox wall chart from 1984 that I vividly remember having on my wall as a 7 year old. Did anyone claim one of the free gifts?

Ah...   I sold a very similar box wear one this time last year.  Went with Pontiac J-2000 drag car kit.   I thought that it was the very same Citation kit bought at the Acton North London model shop ~1990.  One of many kits that never got built and were always in the way!

Good to see a tidy example, with the trailer too. My Tarmac B1600 is a bit playworn, although a bit of the plating is still present on the wheels.

My MIB Field Car has a similar combination of Superfast wheels and old-style separate tyre.

By 1984 I was getting a bit too old to be buying Superfast and claiming free gifts, so sadly I missed out on that.

If anyone comes across a medium/sightly larger scale Volvo 740 saloon they don't want to keep please let me know.

Dolly and Ken have had one of those for years.

Trouble is, it can get a bit hot.  Not unlike Dolly.

Polistil do 1.24 Volvo 740 estates. I have one exactly the same as this:

Mine needs a bit more resto but looks better than it was.

There is a closer one - boxed too - near Mansfield for a fiver more once postage taken into account

Got a link? I doubt I'll be buying as I need to survive this month but the estate could do with a saloon stablemate...

I'm still hunting for the orange Tarmac version. There's been one on eBay forever but missing its tailgate

I'll have a look at my other Field Car later

I have three of the items listed as free gifts, the silver Mini Pickup, the Sun Burner and the Red Rider. I had though they were just general releases. Maybe they were later, just not in 84

Is OTTO's 1:18 too large?

I'm trying not to hang on to too many battered cars, I whack them back on eBay as job lots. Despite this, I still have a box full that I think would make good projects. Some of those police cars look like they could use the treatment
