Not as past-blasting as Henry's Radio  😁

Had it on all afternoon, believe it or not.  Now we have Gary Davies sitting in for Steve Wright (in the afternoon) playing  Springsteen

Crikey I've got one of those tinplate Rolls Royce radios in the loft. My granny brought me it from a 2nd hand stall in the 1980s. It was never my cup of tea, if anyone wants it for postage I'll happily post. It did work about 30 years ago.

You'll have to outlive me for that to happen..

Went off to the interwebs and found one for sale.  And under £6 too!  There is a catch.  It's with a seller in Rome, Italy.

So, a longshot, but is there anything listed here of interest to anyone else, so postage expense could be shared

I did say longshot.  Don't, whatever you, do a late-night mis-click on the plastic Fiat 1800 ! 😶

This is one of those ‘You know you are Autoshite if you had a digital clock inlaid in a generic Vintage Car...’ type moments.

Unfortunately I scratched the rear deck paint, getting the boot lid off, and now wonder why I bothered

Sounds like an excuse to paint it a suitably vulgar colour

Sierraman is on the case with the 'brown' ideas

Bit of a long shot I know but if anyone has one of the following RC Escort's for sale or if anyone ever spots one for sale relatively cheap (charity shops, car boots etc) please get in touch. I've been searching for one that isn't over priced for a few years now. It's just that I found that RC Corgi Golf in that retro shop recently and it got me thinking someone might come across one perhaps? Cheers

Probably too toy car like diecasts 😉 but these Hotwheels car cases might interest somebody - in Costco for £20ish the time VAT is factored in.

If anyone's after paint supplies, Wilko are doing clear lacquer, satin/gloss black, satin/gloss white and white/grey primer 400ml for £2.75. I like their paint so going to stock up

Posted

Does the clear not stay tacky for ages like the Rustoleum clear?  I like using it but it stays tacky for months

Wilco stuff seems pretty good. Some of the Aldi/Lidl colours seem to take forever to fully cure for some reason, although not all. The yellow is the worst I've found.

Do you still have these?

Dusted this off, earlier:

Corgi BMW M1 in BASF livery.  Assumed 1/36, not measured it but it does look neatly done

Not really looked closely until now.  Generic wheels aside, it does look very smart in this livery (well ok, to moi) and tampo print is very good.  Seats are painted too.  ‘MADE IN GT BRITAIN’, it states proudly underneath

Deck lid lifts to show chromed injectors.  About the only distraction is the unpainted shut, but perhaps that could be blacked-in to stop the OCD shakes.  Maybe detail the lights both ends too, while out with the paint pens.

Got this out with a few others, with view to selling.  But no, decided to keep it as too tidy to throw to the wolves

I mean, what will it achieve?  A pint of Euro fizz?  At least that’s what I’ll tell the wife tomorrow when she spots it in the lounge on display and climbs the walls again.

Anyhow, the livery is as reproduction of the 1980 Hans-Georg Bürger (RIP) ProCar BASF-sponsored car, driven through 1981 by Hans-Joachim Stuck (#80) after Bürger's death in F2.  Not sure another cassette tape manufacturer could help make a car look better than this?

Some great stuff coming from Matchbox - eventually

So that's the last case for 2020 line then.  That fits with the 6 boxes a year, released every 2 months plan

The '56 Powell Sport Pickup never seen before as even on the Fandom subsite the sole photo is of the the prototype

BASF made much more besides cassette tapes,

they are the german equivalent to ICI, before ICI got broken up and sold off.

interestingly, BASF was formed out of IG Faber, who amongst other things made Zyklon B and ran many concentration camps, including one of the Auschwitz camps for the Nazi's........

Yes, granted.  To Brits in the 1980s though, the logo would mainly be known for cassette tapes.  Those tapes, that TDK dominated the UK market with...

Which makes me think - must look for a TDK livery car.  Must be an art-car somewhere.

I've never seen an ID chase car on a UK short card. Going for silly money on eBay

I know you can sell a matchbox Civic or whatever for £6 on eBay but really... by the time you’ve fucked about. I wouldn’t be too harsh on these entrepreneurial folks on eBay selling them at a profit. I don’t think Alan Sugar will be worried.
