What's the craic with these Chrono models?

I see LobsterDiecast carries them, what's the story? NOS or are they still around?

Oh no we don't ! The Spitfires we have are by SunStar.

Tbh I dont know the first thing about Chrono, I'd assume they are now defunct.

That's interesting. Did Chrono morph into SunStar? Your Triumph looks remarkably similar to mine, down to the German number plates! Interior is identical.

I know SunStar models are getting better and better and better.

Mustard mitt, I'd love a SunStar DeLorean.

I've got one, but it's the BTTF2 version as gifted by my sister. It's excellent, but I'd love a vanilla one. Alas now discontinued and the eBay shitehawks demand hills of cash for them.

diecastexchange suggest that Chrono + Vitesse = SunStar these days, so that solves that particular mystery. Current Spitfires have gained a chrome fuel filler cap to port, whilst my own Chrono has lost its wing mirror. Karma.

I have a 1/18 Mercedes e class made by chrono and the box also says sunstar on it. One and the same. I had the chrono spitfire without the pull back mechanism. Sold it a few years ago.

I've got three of those Chrono Spitfires in white (tan seats French plates), black (cream seats, Portugese plates) and green (black seats, German plates). The only other Chronos I had (and I think still have) are Lotus Elise GT1s in Thai Airways and something else (with Proton across the windscreen). Never seen any others. Love the Spitfires though, they're GR12.

I've got one or two of those Mustangs.  If you can mock up Highland Green, they really look the part alongside an ERTL General Lee, painted black... ;-)

Scorpio delivered to RoadworkUK, top bloke :)

Picked this up today in the local Save The Children. It's a Celica Turbo made in Spain by a company called Guisval which is a new one to me. I did a quick ebay search and they appear to have done a nice line of shite back in the day. It's a decent little model, too, but the axles could probably do with being a good bit narrower as the wheels rattle all over the place!

My favourite bit, of course, is that it harks back to a more innocent time when it was okay to advertise cigarettes on childrens' toys #thinkofthechildren. Ironic when you consider where I found it.

Anyway, I is well happy for only 99 peas! :)

I'm much worse when you get to know me! Cheers Felly. Now awaiting display, along with many others.

You know, I can understand when they ban it from children's toys (actually I can't, but let's presume I can), but what makes my piss boil is when they ban it from adult toys.

For all my late racers, I had to order expensive aftermarket decal sheets in order to make them authentic.

I've got a Guisval Renault 12 and a Seat (not Fiat) 131 that I bought in Menorca in 1993. Love them both!

Yes.

For a while a couple of years back whenever we ordered SunStar Mk2 Escorts from the importer, if they were supposed to have Rothmans logos on them there was a blank space on the car and the importer insisted on sending the decals a few days after the models had been shipped and we as a retailer were expected to do the same or supply them separately. Obviously this didn't happen.  At least they supplied the correct decals though I suppose.

I still think I'm doing a sterling job downsizing my collection...

If you've got a 1:18 Sterling I'll definitely have it off you.

I've got a Guisval Renault 21 Estate with Cigarette adverts on it from around 1992. It never encouraged me to smoke though.

Wish I had snapped one of those Corgi Escorts up when they were cheap....Always liked that squinty window.

it always amazed me that corgi di the 3 door and the van and managed to get 2 different front ends!

They still made those right into the 21st century with non opening rear doors.

I have a strange variant that my Granny gave me in about 1987. It has opening rear doors but instead of the plastic rear bumpers that are part of the baseplate, it has chunky separate die cast parts. I've never seen that since. Its in British Airways livery.

I think mine had opening rear doors and the separate bumpers, I kind of assumed that the Hoover one would too since that's the only style I know.

If a 1:18 Sterling existed, I'd actually have it.

Corgi made umpteen variations of that Escort van over the years. As a kid I had a British Telecom version with ladders on the roof, and opening rear doors, plus a black Beatties version
