Shite in Miniature II

Not sure what he's after - he was so busy accepting pound coins from a flotilla of old biddies that I could barely get his attention for the Opel... at a guess, based on the other stuff there, I'd say £5-10.

I think it still had its loading ramp in place - I should have checked more carefully!

I'll take a stroll over there in a minute and see if it's still there - if it's intact, have you an upper price in mind which I could haggle down to?

I think those Dinky repros are brilliant if they are priced at around £20 posted on ebay. They have opened the gates to me so I can own French and Spanish Dinky cars that I had only previously been able to drool over in my 'Toy Cars' book. Progress has been slow however, in the last 5 years I have only bought the R12 Gordini, Peugeot 204 and Ford Galaxie 500. I have had the Opel Diplomant, Renault 4 and 6 on my watch list for too long now!

A fiver would be good,a bit more would be ok?

Tragically, it's the one model that's sold since this morning... bloody typical!!

Sorry for the disappointment... would a bagged and sealed Miller Genuine Draft t-shirt help to ease your pain? Cos there's shitloads of those...

There's probably a dozen or more little jobs I could be doing on a Sunday morning so obviously I chose to waste my time thusly. Even the dog gave me one of those scornful/pitying looks.

Phew! So it's not just me then. Whenever I get a old unlooked after model vehicle, I'll give a wipe with a lightly damp cloth, wipe it over then with Mer polish and then a dry microfiber towel.

Sounds involved but it takes less than a minute.

Is it a NASCAR one?

Sadly not even that interesting, I'm afraid - it looked rather more like one of these:

At a guess, I'd say Market Blokey's done a clearance on a closed-down pub and found all these old bits of bar accessories and drinks promo items in a storeroom...

Still, the NASCAR tees look pretty funky:

And some even have particular relevance to the AS fraternity...

I think that's exactly why I'm warming to them now, too - having forsworn collecting 'toys' in favour of accurate scale models (Minichamps, Vanguards), I've now spent the past eight or nine months accumulating Corgi, Dinky (repro) and Matchbox cars...

...and that may* be linked to finding a copy of said book in a charity shop last year.

I also want a Dinky Renault R6 quite badly (even though I have a perfectly decent magazine partwork one by D'Agostini or IXO) - there is just something about them.

I was lucky enough to receive these earlier from a mate who was thinning down his collection and weeding out the duplicates. Can't believe how nice the Herald is.

Poor show at car boot today. Wasn’t a complete waste of time, got this Porsche 911 with the opaque windows. Mid 80’s issue I’d say.

Today's flea market find. Might be up for re-sale, I'll see. I think Bramz has a boxed one.

A nice simple repaint :)

I had a real one, around 1982, rusty as fook.  A worn camshaft saw it flogged to a banger racer mate.

Model was supplied by Egg industries inc along with a free Ford galaxie :)

the Ford is on repaint no3 :(

If anyone wants that Visa, will be £3.50 posted...

Very good condition apart from some bend to the axles.

Would sell them for £6.50 each posted?

I've bought enough models this month even though I'm not really supposed to be.

Next paid around August 23rd, I'll take the Omega if you still have it?

Does anyone remember a Matchbox series of cars that had weird 'hologramatic' wheels, that where reflective and shiny?

I'm 99% sure they were Matchbox, and they came out late 80's. The car I had may have been a Renault concept (spider?), but I can't find any information anywhere or anything related to any Matchbox cars in the 80's having these wheels.

I remember it as my bullshitting friend claimed to have a millionaire uncle who owned one of these cars in real life, and it even had the zany mirror wheels.

And while we're at it - does anyone remember the emergency vehicles you could get (Matchbox again I'm sure of it), where you pushed it down against the wheels and a siren noise and lights came on?

Yeah I think the Majorettes were called Sonic Flashers. I have a few of the Matchbox ones, I think they comprised of the Ford Supervan, XR4i and the Mercedes 500SEC.

Does anybody remember the Matchbox Specials where you turned a key in the back to 'lock' it (turns out pretty much anything works) and if you picked it up an alarm went off any the lights flashed? My son and I have one each, an F40.

Posted

Yes they’re called ‘alarm cars’ both in the format of the F40 and the 959. Specials were the racing themed 1/36 scale models. Turbo Specials were the above but with a pull back motor and rubber tyres. Useless fact for you there. What about Graffic Traffics remember those?
