Hoping to remedy that soon by stripping and getting new bits to repair and repaint mine. Seems that Acme 3000 can do me a replacement glazing unit and tailgate from Ebay for not a huge amount.

Pale blue paint in the doorframe of yours suggests it was a Kenwood liveried panel van rather than police, maybe?

Dinky 407 Ford Transit - Kenwood.jpg

Dinky really got their money out of that casting, modifying it substantially at least twice in line with Ford's own Transit facelifts - or was it a complete recast? Never had an early one to compare against...

The 1st version is a bit smaller, the 2nd & 3rd are basically the same with the 3rd being updated.

The mazda pick up was created as an incredible hulk toy.

I got the matchbox car transporter when it came out. The cars were quickly removed - even the lower one once the tang above it had been removed.

Pretty sure the plain one came 1st & the Hulk was a later issue.

Thanks Datsuncog, I just assumed it was a police van because of the pale blue, but there's no trace of any roof adornment and I'd no idea there'd been a Kenwood-liveried one. It and the D-series came out of another box of broken crap I got at the auctions a couple of years ago. As did these:post-26064-0-91296400-1529674459_thumb.jpgpost-26064-0-91657500-1529674634_thumb.jpg

And some tramshite

which seem to be white metal kits in varying states of completion. The rest of the box consists of a half-built white metal and brass locomotive kit, I'm guessing an LNER pacific post-26064-0-80241200-1529675207_thumb.jpg

Just drilled it out slowly, some damage, but visible bits ok. Could replace if I get enthusiastic.

Can now strip the carcass anyway!

I've just realised this one is meant to have a tyre under the bonnet...

Thanks all.

Thanks for that, I knew it wasn't a Gresley because of that step in the line if the footplate. If any of you want it and the trams get in touch

Smoll Pnappl Wgns arrived today, thanks DatsunCog! Now I can make my desk look like what Billy wishes his parking area would.

Larger VW Sambacamper was also bought, need to get hold of some 1:43 OZ Alloys and work out what to make a scale rollcage from... It comes apart pleasingly easily for what I have in mind (just to check they're not massively rare before I go all Code 3 on its ass, are they)bf16633bc9e1d6c2bf9414b12febb0a4.jpg

Oh look, a horsey-horse. Appropriate really, as my grandmother used to make the journey from Teynham to Canterbury by pony and trap when she was a lass in the 1920s!

Be careful with the roll bar on that Golf cabrio, it's very fragile and both of mine are broken. Cabrio is Dub scene phail anyway as there's nowhere to fit a roof rack to transport your pineapples on (can you get 1/72 pineapples?)

Posted

You simply pile the rear seat high with 1:72 radio flyers, oil cans, beer fridges sprayed with brown paint to look rusty and bikes you found in the 1:72 canal.

The pineapple goes on top.

So you loik Faaarmshite.......

Not much agricultural connection in my family other than the usual tendency to have more connection with the land the further back you go - my Great Grandfathers were shepherd and gamekeeper respectively - but I do like Dinky and Britains....

This was once our spare bed....

That's fantastic, delighted they all got to you in one piece!

Weird to see such familiar items in an unfamiliar setting, mind... I must have had that Chrysler taxi for over 25 years. Still, it's not like I'm running out of models anytime soon!

Enjoy!

Yaay! Great stuff - they really are cracking models, those Cararama 1/72, though it's true they wouldn't last five minutes with yer average four-year-old.

I doubt the VW Samba is all that rare; it came from either Poundland or Gamleys c.2005! Be great to see the finished product!

Inspiration for the Cabby?

I would say that Golf can get in the sea, but it looks like it's been there once already!

I think the smaller ones are too nice to mess with, although I'm always interested how people do RHD conversions on models like these

The money shot(s). Come on, it's the doors that get you too, right? A much neater job than Dinky GB managed on the MkIV Zodiac, IMHO.

post-17915-0-98799600-1529751623_thumb.jpg

Just as I imagined it, and drooled over it, thirty years ago.

Is it as good as an original? No, of course not.

post-17915-0-37824900-1529751672_thumb.jpg

It looks kinda 'bright', while the paintwork suffers from a few of the blemishes Atlas are (were?) known for.

But is it in my cabinet?

post-17915-0-63455600-1529751730_thumb.jpg

HELL YES!!

I even evicted a Renault Fuego to make room for it.

Many thanks to Junkman for giving me this stunning opportunity, and for his courteous updates and scrupulous posting and packing. Much satisfaction, 72/10, would highly recommend for all minishite acquisition purposes.

post-17915-0-62961700-1529751893_thumb.jpg

Bonus opportunity to brush up my Dutch, too.

I HAZ OVERJOY.

post-17915-0-10980800-1529752205_thumb.jpg

EDIT: Paint blemishes are by no means a bad thing - it may make it a much easier decision to go for a repaint at some point...

Hey Datsuncog, continuing our childhood Galaxie syncronicity into adulthood, I too have an Atlas repro waiting for me at the post office for collection. Sadly my post office is not in walking distance and is only open when I'm at work. Helpful*

Today's £1.50 charity shop find. French (Majorette) model of an lhd German coach with Luton and District 'livery'.

Wonderful.

Posted

That's brilliant! L&D never operated anything remotely like that and the colours don't look right either. It's an accurate* scale model.

Following the arrival of another parcel from Datsuncog (thanks again Tim) today's task has been to sort and catalogue my 1/72 car collection. There are over 300 of the little buggers, not counting the 1/76 stuff from the likes of Oxford! Maybe I got a bit carried away collecting them for more than 15 years - what would any sensible person do with 17 (yes, SEVENTEEN) M-class Mercs?

That Majorette coach is the very essence of Autoshite In Miniature.   Fantastic find
