Not worth it's own thread so

I saw this at an auction today, I desperately wanted to bid on it but the earache would've been immense , made £100 + 24% premium , n gauge layoutpost-20755-0-18604900-1521066545_thumb.jpg

For £124 that would have been a bargain

Posted

I'd think there's £500+ just in parts , he said £100, £100 , £100 and I'm selling at £100

It took everything I had to not bid

That's flipping brilliant.   I would have lived in the shed with that for a few months....

My hilairious* family bought this today, it's an almost exact replica of my V70, in its natural habitat, apparently. They've got a point it has been on a recovery vehicle 6 different times since I've had it.

The spec is vaguely VW T5 but a different scale to the Volvo, which appears to be 1/36ish.

I was in Asda today and they had a similar Recovery set for £6.50 (although an RAC-ish Orange truck, and a different box) as well as a police Volvo with flashing lights and some other actually reasonably well modelled stuff. Even the Fast and Furious 1:18 stuff looked to be well made.

More new stuff from Oxford. The Gusset Brown Triumph is strangely appealing and the Cavalier is based on the one in the Vauxhall Heritage Fleet.

And some modern PCP-financed shit, soon to be seen driving aggressively without indicating and parked in stupid places (other stereotypes are available)

Nice backdrop of a typically haphazard industrial units type setting.  The Triumph is particularly good looking.

While we're on the topic of supermarket play sets, look - a Senator police car in Sainsburys!

Looks like the horribly out of scale Volvo fire engine too in that set.

Here's something I was pleased to get hold of. I'd been looking for the old Efsi Commer Walk-Thru for years but the few I came across were all going for silly money. Then at last weekend's model bus show, something interesting caught my eye among the usual piles of diecasts on the bring and buy stall. At 3 quid for the pair these were quickly snaffled.

The green one is a repaint and a bit battered, but an early version with narrow wheels. Blue is a later one in good original condition.

i was really made up with how that one came out, so it has a place in the cabinate, sat below the Singer Vogue and above a Chunderbird.

Thanks, that's fantastic :-). As a car I'd owned for 35-40 years, nice to see it have a second life. Thanks for sharing!

I finally had a weekend so I got some diecast work in.

This had a broken tow hitch which I repaired but when I was filing it to fine tune the fit, I broke the repair so I need to do it again.  Repairing tow hitches is a ballache.  Painted this 1958 Berkeley Cavalier to match my previously repainted Corsair.

I had started a repaint on this Minor in enamels but the purple I was using went really weird and discoloured sort of green, and not in a good way.  Repainted it today with acrylics before giving it a lacquer and I'm much happier with it.  The colour is a weird grey-lilac, the nearest I had to Mirage.

Aircraft carrier got a makeover too.   This was quite rough when I started with very little paint and really dirty.  The brown I chose ended up a bit darker than I wanted but that's balanced out by the masking for the matt varnish to make the black roof look like vinyl turning out exceptionally well.  I don't really like this shape Z car very much, but it was a model I was struggling to get hold of so I'm not about to get rid of it now that it looks nice and tidy.

This Jaguar XJ-S from the Corgi Whizzwheels range is rubbish.  I don't really like them.  However, this one gets a stay of execution/sale because my brother and I had one each when we were kids so I felt like tarting up this really rough example.  Something has had a right go at the wheels on it, they're really chewed up, but careful painting has hidden most of the damage.post-5335-0-42941700-1521427288_thumb.jpg
