Dropped into another JoueClub shop yesterday, not much in the way of 1/43, 1/18 etc:

 

HWs and Matchbox were in a dump bin, nothing too exciting/recent in there. Thought @Datsuncog would like to see the garage sets.

The orange Datsun 240ZG Vintage Racer seems to be a bit of a pegwarmer in shops here.

Don't think I ever saw the Anglia in person back home, but they had a couple here as I suppose it doesn't have much relevance in France. Shame about the price tags, and they all have a security thing on the back - haven't seen that in other shops, but this branch was in a bigger town.

As reported in the WhatsApp group I was disappointed to find a specialist diecasts shop I stumbled across was closed, sometime beyond the extended lunchtime shutdown too. That might have been my only chance to get anything older, as I think we're done on boot sales etc now. Will try a small brocante shop in the next village which seems to have some automobilia on display.

Coming to a poundshop/supermarket/ebay near you! Two absolute corkers from Hotwheels, better by far than the Cortina and probably on par with the 365 Daytona they released recently, 

Of course these are collectors pieces, never to be freed…… 👹😳😂

First up the Broadspeed XjC12 - a corker! Right hand deive, rear deck fans, side exhausts, open windows and an excellent grill!

In second place to the Jagwhr, but brilliant all the same is the 964 Turbo Porsche. Even the pink interior works, and the individual light and badge tampo prints are fantastic. Good choice of wheels too.

I went through 3 N cases today, none had the regular Treasure Hunt in - and one was still sealed. Found this one in the jumble of cars below the pegs in Smyths

Now we get to the real goodies. New drift Volvo

The brilliant 911 cabrio

And the Jaguar, which is just excellent 

Unlike @andrew e, I'm not an animal, so I used acetone to free them so I can display the cards

I love it, needs some detail but this is definitely one of the best castings of 2025. As I was opening that, it would have been rude not to get the Matchbox one out

But that's not all - I found the new F&F 5 pack in Home Bargains 

And Smyths had a huge heap of Team Transports, so I finally got my hands on this set

On the racing cars they were quick fuel filler inlets which allowed fuelling without opening the boot lid.

Perhaps there was a livery licencing problem, as the 1978 brochure showed the release colour scheme of white with red/black tampos (with final design differences), and WITH boot lid fillers that were intended to be part of the casting

Also the Steed Jaguar was shown with them,

which is wrong for the road car, being a Broadspeed body kit fitted to a standard XJ12C Automatic, first appearing in Episode 5, broadcast 31/10/1976

By the second series, first seen in episode 2 which was broadcast 15/09/1977, it had gained the spoiler, but still no fuel fillers

But for 1979, they were removed even on the Big Cat variation, although the catalogue still had the boot lid artwork as if they were still there

What was finally manufactured, distributed on shrink-wrapped card

Or wrapped in bubble-wrap, in trade boxes

For a car that, as far as I'm aware, didn't have a particularly long or illustrious racing career it's remarkable how much impact the Broadspeed Jaguar has had, and how fondly it's thought of. Is it just because it looks great? I remember Fibresports ad's for the GRP bodybit in Street Machine etc back in the '80s.

I saw (heard!) my first 20 years ago, going full chat up Goodwood's Hill.  It sounded like no other.  I felt nine years old again.  IIRC it broke down later on in the day, apparently par for the course when they were new.

If it came to a "f-what was that"?! sound level face-off, then a Chaparral flying by might be close behind, but still that Broadspeed Jaguar V12 would still get the vote.

I'm sure it will come as no surprise that one of my eBay saved searches is for Matchbox Graffic Traffics. Most unmolested ones command good money, and boxed ones even more. However, it seems hardly anyone cares about the Specials versions, as had no competition to win this
