Been fiddling about with a few bits today, Graffic Traffic Supervan got prepped and painted

Tried a few chemical experiments, put the roof off a challenger in bleach to see what would happen, because I want to try getting permanent marker off Graffic bits this way. Result - not a lot happened

Stuck my spare Graffic Testarossa in oven cleaner to see if the pen came off. Not really, slight improvement

Having not a lot to lose, I stuck it in thick bleach for an hour

Quite an improvement! I'll leave it in overnight and see what happens

While I was messing about with that, the box arrived for my CMC Dutch Police Beetle (still no collector card though)

Dutch Police geezers seem non-commital

I never knew of this existence of this one until CMC proposed making it, a seriously rare bit of kit it seems

Our local Smyth's has had a bit of a refurb and shift-about. Sadly the diecast seems to be in a smaller section than before, but the good news that all the numerous peg-loads of old shit like F&F and Jay Leno Garage stuff were gone and mainly new, fresh premiums were in. I must admit to being tempted by that F&F Roadrunner that @bunglebus posted earlier. If it had had the correct road runner & dust trail side stripes, I'd have had it. The new Boulevards caught my eye though, and I had my hand hovering over the yellow Altezza, but then I saw this, the only one in there,

This is the one I wanted most out of that collection, already they're on sale on ebay for twice the shop price, even on AliExpress they are too. This seems to be the scalper's favourite.

Yeah, its fairly heavily bodykitted, but at least it doesnt have a big, stupid DTM style rear wing like the C63 Black Series does...

Closest Hot Wheels I'm going to get to my old C Class Kompressor Sport ( the W203 is just a four-door CLK after all 🤣)

I’ve been away this week so done bugger all model-wise. This afternoon though I had a go at that Schabak Ford Orion that had a missing windscreen.

It’s a nice thick section of a soap bottle. There’s a nice gentle curve to the plastic so I just chopped a piece out then covered it with masking tape so I could draw on it and it wouldn’t scratch. Then it’s just a case of keep offering it up and marking/trimming it down to size.
I’ll paint in the scuttle panel trim and windscreen rubbers before I glue it in.

Some good but odd luck today, nipped into Aldi and they'd restocked the hotwheels boxes. First box netted me a Cortina and the Phone car. Then the last box had 6 of each Ferrari and the Escort on top! 🫤

Finally!

I went into a local-ish branch of The Range which has always disappointed up until today. A usually quite empty large metal tray near the tills with remnants of battered dross was instead bountifully bursting with a recent restock. I’d already bought most of the good stuff elsewhere, but picked a couple of new models up including the Quick Chat phone car. My initial excitement was waning as I trawled through the box in the search for the elusive Cortina, then it appeared like a golden nugget at the very end of my rummaging. Very happy now!

Well, with no Aldi or Morrisons branches in this benighted land I really thought I'd be in a perpetual state of teeth-gnashing over the lack of Hot Wheels L-cases... but no.

The smallest, rubbishiest branch of Poundland I know of came up trumps this morning:

This place generally only ever has long-stale 2023 releases on the pegs, so this was most unexpected and also most welcome.

Better news though: yesterday one of my fellow Carers gave me a 007 partwork DB5, on its base but with no case around it. For that price I don't mind at all!

This was the cheapest buy of the day, in a 6 for £1 bag - I was gnashing my teeth watching a couple rummaging around in front of me, picking it up and saying "that's an old one" before putting it back, picking it up again - and finally buying 6 modern plastic things I wasn't interested in. Phew.
