I managed to find the new MB 7 series just as a new case had been plopped out at Tescotainer in Cumbernauld. Cracking wee model, very detailed interior too!

While on the subject of toy cars wanted by @Dick Cheeseburger I seem to remember you were keen to buy a Dinky VW Beetle from me a while ago. I recently got another one, not quite as good but for a third of the price.

It does have some weird dark marks that look like they were made with a felt pen, but they don't notice irl anything like as much as in a photo

It's actually very nice and I paid a reasonable £5, obviously you'd need to add postage if you want it

That's a nice one - pm incoming!

Boxed Chinese Mini Traveller was only £2, I thought it would make a nice contrast to my white one (if I can find it)

When those Atlas Dinkys first came out people were paying £30 for them on Ebay. Little did they know that who ever made them had made more than enough to satisfy every collector on the planet and more.

Altlas Dinkys, along with the CMC reproductions, will be the Lledo Days Gone of the future with boxes of them turning up in auctions and selling for peanuts.

That’s insane, can’t be worth more than £800

Spotted this on eBay… must be confusing for the race commentator 😆

Also spotted this, is Age d’Or also not in Vogue?

Finally, an Instagram spot that I liked.

That's a full set of giffer collectables, an MoY, a Solido Age d'Or and a Brumm Serie Oro. All worth less than a cup of brown from Starbucks.

Agreed.  No point unless you just like the look of them.  My mum had a few as ornaments.  She had zero interest in values or collectability.  I'm the same with Hot Wheels. I have only one. It was sent to me by a friend.  It's a Reliant Supervan (=Regal of delboy era) with huge dragster type rear wheels and the blister pack has it doing a wheelie.

I played with my original series Matchbox Yesteryears when I was a kid but not as often as toys representing later times.  The few childhood Yesteryears are still upstairs, slightly worn and no boxes, of course.  Nostalgia could still sway me to buy a diecast.  The last one was probably at least 30 years ago, a dark green Morris 1000, one of those pull-back toys which could be found in cardboard trays at seedy seaside shops.  Others, some quite expensive, have been given to me at Christmas.  Better than a pair of socks 😄.

No, because I’m bidding on it… only joking 😁. I’ll have a look now…

(lol joking of course, I think I was the only bidder at £15 or sommat)

I sold a Japan Racing hard top one a few years ago, which IIRC was one of the more desirable ones it went for £20. Possibly less. A good model I thought but it only resulted in two, the MGF/MGB

Yeah, the MGF suffers in the same way as the ERTL Freelander – absolutely hopeless front lights. Shame, as you say, they're nice models otherwise.

I’ve been to several of my usual outlets in the past couple of days and have yielded nothing for myself.

I recall somebody saying they hadn’t been able to get one of these, so I grabbed it in case it’s of interest. No worries if not, it can be an oddball member of my collection.

Charity Shop tat from the other day:

IMG_20250623_1255592.jpg.ef72d402ce0b35c2e32b3bb6e4ee8d1d.jpg

Might have gone for the Corgi Ferrari as the paint was pretty good, but the cracked windscreen dissuaded me.

The two lone Top Trumps from the 1970s were from the same racing cars set that I once had, long ago. It included F1 but also Can-Am and Le Mans racers in the pack, as I recall.

LOADS of F&F Hot Wheels in a nearby branch of B&M

IMG_20250623_1314462.jpg.2cd61c60eba80b95a5a72c9ed28b6068.jpg

This was only one of many overflowing clip strips.

Plenty of new MSZ vehicles in too, as highlighted recently:

Certainly not bad, similar to Maisto in terms of quality. At £1.49, cheaper than Mattel offerings but I wonder if we'll see more castings arrive?

I've literally just been in Tesco and spotted one of those, but didn't pick it up because I couldn't remember who wanted one, and whether they wanted this or the MB version.  There was at least one gold Pagoda SL too, which I also left.

The Matchbox finds from the other day, out of their packaging:

IMG_20250625_1550192.jpg.b2752509ce75bd30911d25e34e51c3ca.jpg

The pinky-red Europa was from an unfamiliar display case of boxed Power Grabs over in the Toytown branch at Ards Shopping Centre; I think this was a mix released last year that for some reason wasn't made widely available in the UK.

Bit dear at £3 - but then their pricing for Matchbox is all over the place. It's a really nice casting; I had it before in black and then got rid, stupidly, so good to right a wrong.

Still smitten with that Chevelle.

Does anyone know…

How the hell you get Corgi Vanguard’s wheels off their axles?

Normally the 1:43 stuff you can just pull them off the axles but Vanguard’s seem stuck well on. The wheels themselves actually spin on the axle so there must be some sort of clip or something that holds them??

I need to take the wheels off as I’m fitting, or hoping to, them to an IXO car which has a different way of fitting the axles into the chassis.

Sneak peek,

IMG_7404.jpeg.342226709a69aebe9f177fd779801570.jpeg

Comes with Ghia alloys originally but the Vanguard’s Granada steels are much more accurate for a low spec car.

Does the hub cap come off? Might be a flared end to the axle hidden underneath

Doesn’t look like it. It looks completely moulded.
If you pull the wheels apart they’ll move a tiny bit but that’s all. I’ve tried pulling them hard too but I think if I try harder they’ll break.

Perhaps they’re on a circlip type fit?

Can you stand the axles on end and push the wheels down to pop off a hubcab (if fitted)?

I've come across a few that just can't be taken off, those tooned muscle car things are like it

I’ll try tomorrow. They do look all one piece though.

They do feel like that might be the case. There’s a tiny bit of movement in them but then it just will not move further. There’s definitely something strong inside the hub though as I was heaving on them pretty hard and they still wouldn’t budge.

I couldn’t stand not knowing so I went and got one of the axle sets!

Looks like it’s all one.

But it ain’t!!

I had no idea. The join for the centres is so tight you can’t see it.
I owe you a beer @bunglebus 👍
