It’s at the point now where building the shed is about done and I’ve got the pleasure of going through all my boxes of toys detailed models and finding places to put things.
It’s fun finding things you don’t remember having though, and rediscovering things you haven’t seen for ages.

Don’t remember having this Chevy either. It must be one of the scarcer ones at a guess as I can’t remember seeing many others around either?

I still love the Matchbox Mitsubishi. Lovely looking car.

I remember the blue Gremlin but can’t remember getting the white one. Nice surprise!

Got this in the post too.
Been after this model for ages but it’s not one that comes up much.

I’d open them, they’re there to be enjoyed not worrying about getting another £5 for them 20 years down the line! 😂

I’m inclined to agree tbh!
Im not even sure these ones will ever be worth much anyway. Plus, once they’re open they can sit on a shelf somewhere without the stupid packaging getting in the way.

Yes, it's good fun to go through piles of stuff that have been stored away for a while and have a period of rediscovery. I'm looking forward to doing more of that as my 3-day weekends really start to take effect and I sort (play) with what I have in the garage.

The Celeste is very nice, I'm envious of that one.

Volvo looks good, though the grille style and skinny bumpers suggest somewhat earlier than 1973? They've accurately modelled the somewhat annoying use of the saloon's rear doors - given how many 145/245 estates must have been produced over the years I think Volvo could have paid for a tooling change and different glass to give it bespoke rear doors multiple times over!

I think I'm going to start opening-up most of my HW/Matchbox packs, until now it hasn't been a problem to start another box but I'm running out of room for that to keep happening. Perhaps have a display which I periodically update like I do with the old Majorettes next to me at work?

Live B&M action, never thought I'd find that Skyline. 20250429_112611.jpg.06f915828752ce1e73c7ee2d2a02a753.jpg

Don't think I've seen that Skyline at all

It was in a dump bin.

I only realised today that Celeste has the Japanese?? box with all the non English branding.

I must admit, I thought that 145 was an earlier car than 73. Sometimes those partwork models do get the text on the base wrong though. I’ve got a 144 somewhere too so it’ll be interesting to compare them both.

The trouble I have with matchbox etc staying in the boxes is the packaging is awkward to store. At least ripping them open means putting them on a shelf or cabinet is easier. Although the vast majority of my models are 1:43 stuff now.

Split rear windows makes it pre-1970 iirc

Your right👍

So it’s an error on the base description.

I opened the Chevy Silverado earlier,

Impressive little thing considering it’s a 1:64 size. Opening tailgate too!

I'm not doing so well with online purchases this week. This Volvo looked really good in the listing, but has been brush painted, retaining the original sunroof sticker etc

It's also had something stick to the still soft paint on the doors

Thought I might have better luck with a Corgi Commer that also looked really good, and was tucked away in a job lot of ambulances

*sigh* another brush painted special, and the cab looks like typex

Christ!😟

No idea what’s going on with that ambulance block of wood on wheels, but I suppose the others are at least good enough for customising. Those Superkings Volvo’s are excellent and customise well. Maybe you could use it to make a bigger scale version of the Hot Wheels ones!?

I already did!

Matchbox Volvo 245 custom

Not a very good pic but this got some proper rubber tyres off some sort of racing car and a repaint. It was a green one which is slightly regrettable as I haven't found another one yet

Matchbox Super Kings K74 Volvo Estate

They’ve kept the original plates though, I think like the 305 you got a pack of plates from various countries and a GB sticker?

I have a 50p ticket diecast roffle here, if of interest!

Oof.... that ambulance is by no means the best example of what Candylab produces. They also offer.....

I first encountered this range in a shop in Brighton (because of course I did) and I surely can't be alone in thinking them pretty awesome as pre-school toys go. If spendy.

If I ever have kids I'll have an excuse to buy some.

I think @bunglebus might be getting another delivery soon.
