The Celeste is very nice, I'm envious of that one.

Volvo looks good, though the grille style and skinny bumpers suggest somewhat earlier than 1973? They've accurately modelled the somewhat annoying use of the saloon's rear doors - given how many 145/245 estates must have been produced over the years I think Volvo could have paid for a tooling change and different glass to give it bespoke rear doors multiple times over!

I think I'm going to start opening-up most of my HW/Matchbox packs, until now it hasn't been a problem to start another box but I'm running out of room for that to keep happening. Perhaps have a display which I periodically update like I do with the old Majorettes next to me at work?

I only realised today that Celeste has the Japanese?? box with all the non English branding.

I must admit, I thought that 145 was an earlier car than 73. Sometimes those partwork models do get the text on the base wrong though. I’ve got a 144 somewhere too so it’ll be interesting to compare them both.

The trouble I have with matchbox etc staying in the boxes is the packaging is awkward to store. At least ripping them open means putting them on a shelf or cabinet is easier. Although the vast majority of my models are 1:43 stuff now.

I'm not doing so well with online purchases this week. This Volvo looked really good in the listing, but has been brush painted, retaining the original sunroof sticker etc

It's also had something stick to the still soft paint on the doors

Thought I might have better luck with a Corgi Commer that also looked really good, and was tucked away in a job lot of ambulances 

*sigh* another brush painted special, and the cab looks like typex

Hey, at least it came with whatever the hell this is

No idea what’s going on with that ambulance block of wood on wheels, but I suppose the others are at least good enough for customising. Those Superkings Volvo’s are excellent and customise well. Maybe you could use it to make a bigger scale version of the Hot Wheels ones!?

I already did!

Not a very good pic but this got some proper rubber tyres off some sort of racing car and a repaint. It was a green one which is slightly regrettable as I haven't found another one yet

Oof.... that ambulance is by no means the best example of what Candylab produces. They also offer.....

 

I first encountered this range in a shop in Brighton (because of course I did) and I surely can't be alone in thinking them pretty awesome as pre-school toys go. If spendy.

If I ever have kids I'll have an excuse to buy some.

I've been very busy with work this week, so I've not really had time to photograph the various bits that have arrived this week - and there are quite a few.

Today I called into a retail park that normally nets me a few new cars, but found very little - however I also got home early enough to go into Smyths and Entertainer, who both had lots of new stock, so there's plenty to post - I apologise in advance for blowing the thread up!

First of all, a bunch of plastic fantastics, starting with this one, which looks suspiciously like a Husky Oldsmobile Starfire Coupé

I believe the roof light is a later addition going by the glue, and it being off centre

This one at least has the brand on it, Blue Box. I think several of them may be also but I haven't confirmed this

Has the nice hydraulic ram as seen on various old Matchbox 

This one absolutely has to be a copy of the Matchbox Land Rover 

This TR2(?) feels different, much more basic and possibly modern

Last one is this truck with an unusual support for the tilting bed

My First Matchbox are funny little things, I've no desire to own them all, or keep the ones I find, but I quite like cataloguing them 

Last of the loose stuff is an engine (and probably other bits) donor for the Brown Sugar

Only one not on the peg was of course the Porsche - however the Mrs found it tucked away underneath - and it's the chase version with special paint, the regular one is just gloss red

Love the Lucky Toys Transit, I agree it's definitely a Dinky copy.
