You could have popped in to see us in Bexhill!

Glad you had a good time in the area and some great finds there too...

Expand

You were in my mind as I was down there, but I couldn't remember where on the coast you were.

You ever buy anything from the Stackville Emporium? Funny little place, only found it by chance when we wandered around after visiting the pavilion.

Interesting that the septics were paying $29 99, which seems cheaper to me than what we pay in proper money

I’m more bothered about that very low shipping charge. We all know how much it costs to ship to and from US, well before the Orange Mussolini got involved, and it’s not that cheap. Must be a typo, what with it being stated in £ not $

Everyone forgets about Bexhill!

If  the Sackville Emporium is the place I think it is, then it is the result of a military memorabilia/toy train shop and a Doll's house shop which were both in the old arcade in Western Road amalgamating. I've never bought anything in there, but looked around a few times.

Love the Pavilion, though it's a bit run down at the moment. They occasionally have a good exhibition there and we've been to some great concerts.

You don’t see toy shops much at all now, let alone proper Aladdin’s cave style places like that.

Like so many of those places though, I bet it’s now a Costa/nail bar/kens kebab’s or some other shit just like every other towns shopping area.

I would be a bit annoyed if the shop window had not been changed from my last visit. Why cant they do this every week?☹️

When I was younger we used to have 3 toy shops  in the main shopping area. One was part of a department store. The other two were independents. Then a small parade of shops near to our house had a shoe repairer. He also sold matchbox cars. The smell of the glue and leather was a bonus.

Also big picture of Phil the Greek top right.

I keep looking at the picture to see what else I can spot - six million dollar man, polistil at the bottom of the window, some matchbox superkings, tonkas - at the other side of the door among the plastic kits is an airfix white scout car - I remember making this badly.

I cannot see any star wars stuff but it didn’t come along until 1978.

Is the Jubilee Coach set below a Batmobile/Batboat/Batcopter set ?

You’re very likely right it being 1977 and not much into 1978 without Star Wars plastered all over the window

I Kenner think you’ve placed the year perfectly

1977 was a good year.

Not got much to report diecast-wise, new Hot Wheels 10 packs have hit Asda and of course there are several in each I'd like, but not one with all of them

I've been tinkering with the Romping Rabbit, found a set of aftermarket wheels for it and peeled the paint off

There's some nice chassis detail on this one hidden under the black paint. Had to spend a bit of time tweaking the base to fit better as it seems some slight miscalculations were made when changing from the standard Golf version.

The also didn't change the interior so it remains RHD despite seemingly being aimed at the American market

I reloaded the page a couple of times, and when it still didn’t work I was about to get mad at my iPad for being crappy. Then I scrolled down further and realised!

I’m sure one of the Dinky Rolls Royce’s had a little fella in a peaked cap sat behind the wheel?

Posted

Speaking of drivers and passengers: When Corgi Classics released a new range in the 1960s, I liked most of them and bought the blue Ford Model T (with the hood raised), pale yellow Renault, British racing green Bentley and the metallic silver/grey Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.  The red Daimler had a cheap looking driver and passenger which I thought made it look too much like a common toy rather than a model. I did not buy that one.  I nearly didn't buy the Rolls either because it was in a blister pack, not a proper box.  I've still got them, including the boxes and one nasty blister pack.
