Shite in Miniature II

I'm a bit overwhelmed with die-cast and the like at the moment. I have stuff squirreled everywhere... under the bed, in the wardrobe, in my car, in kitchen cupboards, in my office at work in filing cabinets (😆).

I think I need to go through what I have and decide what I really want to keep and offload the remainder to help me feel better... that reminds me, I need to pay @bunglebus for my roffle tickets 🤐.

I'm 46 this year so roughly similar ages Dan.

Your Escort memory of a boot sale reminds me of one that popped up in a local park I used to go to with my mum, Rouken Glen (I still go there with my own family to this day!) I found a Whizzwheels MK1 Escort which was absolutely my favourite car in the early 1980s. A boy racer who lived on the same street as me had a Black MK1 Escort and I coveted it.  Anyway, the base was detached at one end and I had to persuade my mum to let me buy it. It finally got a proper repaint  into Sunburst red in 1994 after spending some time brush painted in Oporto Red , and it still on my shelf today! I'd like to take it back to the spot where the boot sale was (the park hasn't changed much)  and have my photo taken but I think that might weird out my wife and son 😂

That’s exactly the weird sort of thing I would actually do. 😂

I more happy scanning through endless auction listings and scanning the pictures for that rare item.

I was doing a bit of scanning yesterday and had a close look at this lot, originally estimated at £30-£40, but with pre-bids up to £150. There's some nice little bits in here, but one that sticks out as the prize item. I might have a go at this on Tuesday as it is a rare rare thing.

Is that a Suzuki Superkings? Quite hard to find but it’s missing the rider.

Speaking of my shed earlier, here’s a few snaps of it for anyone interested.
Possibly more News24 thread than here but it is for models!

It’s getting there now, but I’ve had a few days off from it and been digging holes in the garden instead! Started wiring it up this morning.

Just waiting for a pack of guttering and fittings to be delivered so I can finish the back side of the roof. Then I need a couple of extra sheets of 9mm OSB board to finish the inside wall, these arrived this afternoon so I can get on with that tomorrow hopefully.

Nice view out the window though out across the golf course!

Terrible casting lines as ever, but I mostly left them alone for originality. Window unit had something on it, maybe glue? Took a fair bit of sanding, and dunked it in self shining floor polish too, which I don't normally bother with.

There is something quite enticing about plain white with a coloured window piece for some reason, and I still have three more awaiting their turn

Yes all the others have clear, Graffic Traffic castings are generally all white including the base, with coloured windows.

Anyway, getting another idea now

Got these from Poundland for £1.50. They wouldn't scan so they all scaned under a £1.50 HW Buick Riviera I was buying. Strange how the Scout isn't named as an International Harvester?

Old stock that was too expensive I guess?

It coats the glass and leaves a shiny finish, evens out small imperfections in the surface a bit like lacquer.

There are various ones available, I think my bottle would last about a thousand years at the rate I use it

1936 Mercedes Benz 170H. A "People's car", released two years before the Volkswagen Beetle

Dr Porsche, creator of the Volkswagen, had been chief engineer at Daimler-Benz between 1923 and 1928 when the little rear-engined Mercedes-Benz sedans were under development

The "H" stands for Heckmotor, meaning "rear engine".  It ran a water-cooled inline 4

IMG_4266.jpeg.c7ad4fb2d02c19f001e866d9227997a4.jpeg

Because the engine was deemed not suitable for conversion to wood gas generator, the Wehrmacht did not requisition them and went with the Volkswagen instead

By all accounts they were extremely unreliable in period which may also have accounted for the military rejection!

A Bunglebox arrived yesterday at my warehouse...

...containing these...

100_2146.JPG.d015d0b5e1c71af32db01130121d3de6.JPG

...so I'm pretty well-stocked now on the fantasy trucks!  :)  I foresee many happy hours of modifying and painting.

Speaking of which...

100_2150.JPG.f5ea84087b1b197573d21296aa8d29cc.JPG

Masking applied!  And this is what they look like now:

100_2151.JPG.19773420dbb5c2bc5025e3c1505ddd29.JPGThat was the last of the red.  I need to go to Halfrauds now, because the shopping list is mounting up.  Red (I kept the cap to match the reference numbers), grey primer, oh and a bright white because I've just finished that too...

100_2153.JPG.8c8a68a90c4f90d02c99114b68a14cee.JPG

That can go back on the gate later.  I've also done these....

100_2152.JPG.def20dc05718f3ebb78064d0b7c918b9.JPGNot primer, I'm out of that: this is Ford Polar Grey.  I specifically wanted it for the Mini but I thought it might also suit the Jag, as that comes with a red interior.  Must remember to order a bootlid for that!

Now I'm listening to an internet radio show from Cyprus while I await a delivery.  You'll be seeing what that's all about...
