Terrible casting lines as ever, but I mostly left them alone for originality. Window unit had something on it, maybe glue? Took a fair bit of sanding, and dunked it in self shining floor polish too, which I don't normally bother with.

There is something quite enticing about plain white with a coloured window piece for some reason, and I still have three more awaiting their turn

Was that the only version to have red glazing? Looks a fantastic job👍

Yes all the others have clear, Graffic Traffic castings are generally all white including the base, with coloured windows.

Anyway, getting another idea now

It must be the Yorkshire in me but I can't imagine who thinks £4 for a Hot Wheels is good value no matter where in the World you've visited from. Bah humbug! 😅

Got these from Poundland for £1.50. They wouldn't scan so they all scaned under a £1.50 HW Buick Riviera I was buying. Strange how the Scout isn't named as an International Harvester?

Old stock that was too expensive I guess?

What’s the deal with self shining floor polish?

I've seen Pledge floor revive used to get scratches out of plastic windows, but I've never seen it in shops in the UK. I guess the chemicals used in it can't be sold over here?

It coats the glass and leaves a shiny finish, evens out small imperfections in the surface a bit like lacquer.

There are various ones available, I think my bottle would last about a thousand years at the rate I use it

I wonder if it would revive real car headlights?

1936 Mercedes Benz 170H. A "People's car", released two years before the Volkswagen Beetle

Dr Porsche, creator of the Volkswagen, had been chief engineer at Daimler-Benz between 1923 and 1928 when the little rear-engined Mercedes-Benz sedans were under development

The "H" stands for Heckmotor, meaning "rear engine".  It ran a water-cooled inline 4

IMG_4266.jpeg.c7ad4fb2d02c19f001e866d9227997a4.jpeg

Because the engine was deemed not suitable for conversion to wood gas generator, the Wehrmacht did not requisition them and went with the Volkswagen instead

In an alternate universe people in California could be running about in Baja Mercs, cal look Mercs. Herbie wearing a swastika instead of a no.53.

There is one of these floating about near me - here it is at Stony Stratford a few years ago.

By all accounts they were extremely unreliable in period which may also have accounted for the military rejection!

A Bunglebox arrived yesterday at my warehouse...

100_2145.JPG.c7d8e51255de67a77d4ea14e2ff63cee.JPG

...containing these...

100_2146.JPG.d015d0b5e1c71af32db01130121d3de6.JPG

...so I'm pretty well-stocked now on the fantasy trucks!  :)  I foresee many happy hours of modifying and painting.

Speaking of which...

100_2150.JPG.f5ea84087b1b197573d21296aa8d29cc.JPG

Masking applied!  And this is what they look like now:

100_2151.JPG.19773420dbb5c2bc5025e3c1505ddd29.JPGThat was the last of the red.  I need to go to Halfrauds now, because the shopping list is mounting up.  Red (I kept the cap to match the reference numbers), grey primer, oh and a bright white because I've just finished that too...

100_2153.JPG.8c8a68a90c4f90d02c99114b68a14cee.JPG

That can go back on the gate later.  I've also done these....

100_2152.JPG.def20dc05718f3ebb78064d0b7c918b9.JPGNot primer, I'm out of that: this is Ford Polar Grey.  I specifically wanted it for the Mini but I thought it might also suit the Jag, as that comes with a red interior.  Must remember to order a bootlid for that!

Now I'm listening to an internet radio show from Cyprus while I await a delivery.  You'll be seeing what that's all about...

Went to the Saturday boot sale, small haul today including a couple of bits for fellow Shiters

I’ve never seen that plain blue Regal with silver interior before.  I like the plain black one too but mine is a right mess.
I had a taxi cab one as a kid but it’s long gone.

Most unusual one I’ve ever found was an orange one. Found in a job lot a year or two back but never seen another one.
I wouldn’t mind having a go recreating a few of Juniors versions but using the big 1:36 casting to do it since they didn’t make that many variations of that.

Today, I went to Evesham to meet a former (now-retired) work colleague for a few games of pool. I took the old "Pub landlord" Jag:

20250412_155656.jpg.42424a16566f0d0416e13daa8496c12a.jpg

We were joined by another colleague and his son. When it was their turn to have a couple of games I popped across the road to this place:

20250412_142152.jpg.57c9880d67ddc1699a816c7dd30dc32f.jpg

It sells all sorts. On the ground floor you have a lot of new gifts, model cars etc... on the first floor, you have antiques/treasures and second-hand trinkets.
