I use two part epoxy when repairing resin stuff. with poly cement and superglues you don't always know how it is going to react with the resin. Also with the two part you can bridge gaps and have something that you can sand/file down when it has hardened.

Doesn’t poly cement only work on certain plastics? I use it a lot on styrene sheet/section which it’s brilliant on but then other types of plastic it does absolutely nothing. Does it work with resin?

I've never tried poly on resin. I only use it on plastic kits, and then I only use the watery stuff that you put on with a brush and use the capillary action of the glue.

Mira, Mira on the wall
Tell me, Mira, what is wrong?
Can it be my De La Clothes
Or is it just my De La Soul?
What I do ain't make-believe
People say I sit and try
But when it comes to being De La
It's just me myself and I

As buses & coaches seem to be the latest obsession, I picked up this little Dinky Duple coach. It's not very big (about 4.5 inches long) but it's a nice thing. Crying out for some  extra detailing but I don't want to change such an original & mint thing.

The Dinky boxes with the huge card bases are crap dunno who though that was a good idea but i'm glad to have it even if it is a bit battered.

Cost me a bit over £10 posted which I don't think was too bad..

I had some Playarts arrive today

Yellow one is the usual familiar late Matchbox Superfast lookalike

Playart Mercury Commuter wagon

But there's an older one here too

Playart Mercury Commuter wagon

So it seems the people at Playart were either keeping a close eye on Lesney, or by sheer coincidence they also ended up enlarging the arches and wheels at some point

PXL_20250303_163030149

The white one also has a metal base including the grille and rear bumper, the yellow has a separate plastic grille/bumper, and rear bumper - and a tow hook

Eventually they went to all plastic

Noticed some obscure variations on my K101 Porsches as I was squirrelling them away the other day.

Different colour dashboards

Matchbox Super Kings K101 Racing Porsche

And the slot that has a matching plastic clip twisted into it, to retain it in the packaging got turned 90 degrees - but why?

Here's another recent purchase. It's a Dinky Vega Bedford Val.

I'm a big fan of this Dinky model (& the real thing tbh). I had this model as a kid but it went the way of most of my toys.

I got this one recently. It's been re-painted but I like it. It's big & just being called a Supertoy is cool !

Opinions & info' about this model welcomed. Being a completist (& very very keen on this) I plan to get more..

Cheers

It's funny... having never had one as a kid, when they were current, I now have three, with another on the way!  I'm planning to make an Italian Job coach, and yes, I know it's not correct but have you seen the price of the modern castings?

The one I had as a kid I got in 1974. I remember it as it was the only proper going & staying away family Holiday we ever had. It was a week in Llandudno. I'd been for a coach ride on a real Val (I remember it had 6 wheels) so mum & dad bought me the toy one. It was the no flashing indicators one.

I've noticed there's a few variations of this model (different interior colours, bases, with & without flashing indicators, some with & some without jewelled headlights. Split_Pin kindly supplied some useful info' but I wish there was a full variations guide - but then there's probably only a weirdo like me who'd be interested 😂.

Any chance of some pics of your Vega's ?

These modern castings are they the Corgi ones ??

Cheers

Charity shops turned up next to bugger all today; sum total was this Matchbox Superkings K-3 for a quid, sadly missing its steering wheel but otherwise pretty fresh.

Moderns, yes, I was thinking of Corgi.

Pics, absolutely, once the next one arrives.  It'll mean digging down into the depths of my Pending box but I think it might be nice to get a fleet pic.  I'm not planning on buying any more.... ;)

I don't know what it is about diecast MK1 Escorts, but they always fight me. I got so fed up with the Dinky ones awful casting defects that I turned it into a beater. This Whizzwheels has been an on and off project for over a year

Corgi Whizzwheels Ford Escort

I've modified the base to get the wheels central to the openings, and opened up the rear bubble arches to improve their shape. Had to fill the terrible casting lines behind those rear arches too, which was a right +&£#@ to sand to shape.

Made a new interior, fitted a bit of mesh from a sieve instead of a windscreen and put the wheels from a Mini on as they seemed appropriate with a decent bit of sidewall. Had to mask the paint up twice as I somehow missed the swage line the first time, sent myself cross-eyed putting a set of eBay decals on, and voila, a short oval style 70s racer

That's painted as badly as a Rover Mini Cooper. Lucky it's not made of iron as it would probably have rusted away on the slow boat from China.

To be fair I hate painting pickups, inside the bed is very hard to do without thin bits or overloading the paint
