Can't wait to free this sucker out from it's plastic tomb...

Of course I'm going to sniff in that ancient Chinese Japanese or English air!

Might not have made it as far as China, they kept making some of them in the U.K. for long after 1982.

Made in the UK in 1983 and 1984. Also sold as a Japanese Market release, hence the Japanese Police livery.

It's another Taiwan release, but not very good quality. There are a lot of linishing marks, casting lines and flash. I have cleaned it up a bit, I approached it as if it was a day when the Big Boss was walking around the factory, so everyone was making an extra effort to get it right - but without it being too good as it's a resto. If I wanted to customise one I'd definitely start with a different body, probably one of the first releases before the mould got worn and standards slipped.

While that's drying I thought I'd take the Mira Fiesta apart and try some wheels out for size

PXL_20250221_161653762.thumb.jpg.b1238b46e033459e84909dbf71e35949.jpg

Huh. The wheels are pushed onto pegs cast into the base, not on separate axles. I've only ever seen this before on plastic base Mebetoys, never on a cast base. I've either got to drill across the base from one side of the base from the other (almost impossible) or fix an axle above the base, which will lower the ride height - not that I mind that too much!

Post is also extremely thin like an early Redline, I'm not attempting to drill and tap that so it'll have to be glued back together

Bit heavy around the bends but the daft wide Fandago’d track helps there.  A bit.

81221AC3-0C46-4646-AAAD-126EE8897B79.jpeg

It wasn’t intended to be an exact copy of the ‘livery’, so the decals just make do to make me smile and it belts about the track at speed, so pointless getting the bonnet decal accurate. Well that is my best excuse.

That's brill.

Has anyone seen the wooden kit type thing on Amazon of a 105e ?

What a mad bit of kit, and feels like I could snap the roof off by giving it a disapproving look. "Rolamatic" engine and exhaust piece moves, but there are no pegs on the wheels to make it do so automatically.

Love it

You got one!  I thought those things only existed in photos, not boxed museum pieces

That’s a point- when are you doing that BungleMuseum(TM) open day? There will be cars around the block!  😁

Secret* Super GT licker here. Found this in a bush once:

IMG_20250221_195442814.thumb.jpg.43272793e133ff40330898c6edad2b68.jpg

Now, I have a few of these cases but the Super GT ones are not so common for me. I have this one which actually does what it says on the tin...

IMG_20250221_195519223.thumb.jpg.fb8ff4ae5e45c56db3fa8cea9126a0b2.jpg

Which is a bit frustrating at the moment because in my head, there should only be 10 cars in this box, the ones that came with it.

I have another box also which is in not such good condition:

IMG_20250221_195555207.thumb.jpg.e05e0a4bdb9d80aba1683f46c975d13a.jpg

But in here is some stuff which is a bit of a side quest for me...

IMG_20250221_195839585.thumb.jpg.5db2e5f9705945bf92cacbde95f66f55.jpg

Some (?) of them are 'Neon racers', and they are pretty expensive for budget ranges man.

Then there is turning the difficulty up to say 7 and keeping an eye out for these...

IMG_20250221_195909724.thumb.jpg.01cac1155e21ecccd49c2924f101d932.jpg

Put it this way, when I see one of these available, it's like a little win on the lottery!

The green one is my last find and is in rough shape. These are all waiting for a clean up though.

If you crash it bad the only damage is that the front axle flops about. Just like when the suspension wire has popped off the front axle.

That's a decent stack of cash there for good condition Blackwalls, as you've seen. I suppose as they were always geared more towards racing and crashing, they lead a harder life than a Matchbox MG 1100 being trundled along the carpet. The rubber tyred ones especially are very hard to find here

Some nice bits there, don't think I have any of the neon ones, but the glow windows surface occasionally. Think they only came with the track sets?

There are hundreds of variations, the Charlie Mack book lists them. They were amongst the last U.K. produced 1-75 range.

My bro had a couple of Neon racers with a track, I think I found the Datsun and sent it to live with Sierraman. The other one was I think a Growler if it was a normal Matchbox?

I received a Bunglebox today.  Pics will follow, eventually, but let's just say, I'm delighted.

The Hot Wheels Modern Classics premium line seems to have arrived in Tescotainer aisles, finally.

IMG_20250222_0906163.thumb.jpg.eb0ff142741c1ff411bf9af14ecec7bf.jpg

Dunno where they've been hiding for the past six months, but they're here now. And they're already discounted, which is nice. I found the Subaru Forester a week ago in The Entertainer store in central Belfast, and while the others are quite appealing too I decided they weren't quite what I was after today.

IMG_20250222_0907042.thumb.jpg.5a579d40856a1b71b0ab3547caeabe81.jpg

Still mostly 2024 mainlines in their dump bins, though a few 2025 releases were in evidence - guess those mobile reps I see in Tesco wearing blue Entertainer polo shirts just top 'em up, rather than unpack a full case.

The Range had a 2025 B-case abandoned in a corner...

IMG_20250222_0916242.thumb.jpg.b15dbc524222f6816245144dbbff244c.jpg

Some decent enough stuff, but nothing I'm really desperate for - and nothing I think won't show up in Poundland or Home Bargains for 50p less in a few weeks.

IMG_20250222_0916162.thumb.jpg.641b88f71a538586f8732def8802884e.jpg

Did score an (apparently) unblemished Matchbox Italian Roads 5-pack for £8.05:

IMG_20250222_0940192.thumb.jpg.12b5c56c01eae975f99568d915126420.jpg

I'm only really interested in the Miura and the Giulia Sprint - the others I already have, albeit in different colours.

There are loads of new off-road, city commercial and construction themed 5-packs sitting around, but the passenger car sets seem to go quite quickly.

Also scored a nice little dark green Supra from 2024 that wasn't on my radar, a Wankpanzer, and a 2025 issue Rodger Dodger that's based on a '73 Dodge Challenger and has been in the Hot Wheels range on and off since the Redline years; it's also the hero car on Netflix's 'Hot Wheels - Let's Race' animated series, and as such will probably may of interest to my nieces...

At long last some actual progress has been made today!

Weather has been nice so I’ve sprayed both the Granada estate and AEC bus in their primer coat then after letting it dry wet flatted them both off. That means both can be painted in top coat colours another day.

IMG_6734.thumb.jpeg.3b00d02a5906020bb4a19bdc04cc1387.jpeg

IMG_6735.thumb.jpeg.bffaafd2cfeeb48d3af0935a8bc1e149.jpeg

Theres something very satisfying about wet flatting paint then running your finger tips over it to see how smooth it’s gone!

The bus needs a few extra bits of prep and masking for the bonnet and cab side areas, which are plastic parts. I’ll have to mask the clear windows off then spray it white as it’s all one clear plastic moulding.
The bits I had to fill on the rear end and side have come out well though so you shouldn’t be able to tell anything was there once done.

Posted

Other stuff that’s arrived,

A very nice Leyland Comet from the Spanish trucks partwork.
I got this a month or so back but didn’t open it so decided I’d get it out for a look. I have two so one will be stripped and repainted and probably get a different back end.

IMG_6728.thumb.jpeg.b1fc3f55b8506819737269966628bb20.jpeg

IMG_6729.thumb.jpeg.51786efc0d88092549010f960d6a38cd.jpeg

Also got a lovely Iveco Daily lwb high roof in the original style.
From the rally support vehicle partwork. Another one set to be stripped, swap to RHD and the side door swap sides before a repaint into a normal van.
Although I’m not a particularly big fan of Iveco’s, I remember these running around/rusting into the ground. Never see them now.

IMG_6718.thumb.jpeg.512a395e0d6005ec53c6fcc923198ab2.jpeg

And since tomorrow is set to be absolutely vile outside I’ve dug this out along with some plastic card and bits so I can sit indoors and make a new rear body for it.

IMG_6708.thumb.jpeg.67271cf7caa8b33c2fc782d0ce5f4dd8.jpeg

Bond Partwork Chevy C30 Apache. Comes as a farm truck, but I’m thinking it’ll look much cooler as a classic ramp truck!
I’ll do the ramp/wedge from plastic card, then the top deck out of some chequer plate plastic.
