Nice work on those👍

It’s amazing what a difference the wheels can make to a model. Some of the ones they come with are terrible!
I’ve never seen those Ford Ka’s before, and who does that light blue Escort in your box?

Thanks.

Yes, certainly with the Siku Mercedes S500, the replacement wheels look just right. The original wheels it came with made it look dumpy and unwieldy whereas the replacements plus the blacking up of the B-pillars as per real car represented the shape in a much better way.

The Blue Escort is by Majorette:

My parents had one for a few weeks in this colour in the early 90s after their then-brand new Ford Fiesta Mk3 went back to the dealer for rectification work.

Did keep the Solido 1:43 back instead, despite the detailing being low.  This one is the re-release as part of the Hachette partwork 'Century of Cars'

The original Solido was bright green, orange or red. Both Corgi and Solido modelled the original 1300 X1/9 with the non-impact bumpers.

Your metallic red one is the same as one that I test drove in 1985. The seller didn't take my offer so I never did get that X1/9.

Here's a bright green Solido.

And a black MiniChamps. Again a 1300 with the striped seats.

Yes that’s why I sought the Hachette release, to get nearest colour without expense

A subsequent owner did what I intended to do and fitted the 1300 bumper set

I (eventually) woke up to watch YouTube and instantly fell bored. Thankfully, I've stuff to do here anyway so took the opportunity to organise some of my 1/64 cars.

All these are just half of what I have 1/64-wise.

I remembered that I did some wheel swaps many years ago and I mustard mitt, I'm still chuffed with the results. Here is a sample;

1/64 SIKU Mercedes S500, originally would have looked like this:

il_fullxfull.2289267609_7bqg.jpg.5b8e5a4e09521004c83db9c484ea8492.jpg

I got a bit creative with what I had and got it looking like this:

20241119_201932.jpg.ac5ea780c538fa947528933f7fdb2b12.jpg

20241119_201942.jpg.05755654d0442919dc55a61598031a0f.jpg

You can see in the background the BMW 325i which sports the same wheels.

And then these 3:

20241119_202529.jpg.9ea5cfd2aff499df1f8c5027cd4b454f.jpg

20241119_202554.jpg.ba53c4b945b722888290f36e6960ab0e.jpg

The Landcruiser is some unnamed Chinese thing which would have originally looked liked this:

s-l1200(14).webp.80e408825f5ccc4eb00dad4442bd6d39.webp

I thought that the body of the car was nicely proportioned but let down completely by the wheels. I grabbed the wheels wheels cheap and poorly-proportioned Welly Mercedes ML.

The Mercedes CLK would have originally looked like this:

s-l1200(6).jpg.d6fb605639a4666ab007bdd19930324e.jpg

Which isn't bad, but for a sports Coupe, I felt soke multi-spokes would look better. I grabbed the wheels off a model cheap Chinese Clio V6 model.

20241119_205921.jpg.24bc0d729f5f3aa7fbfee460c23d2363.jpg

The black KA was already modded when I got it. I can't remember if I bought it off here or off eBay. The Silver KA wears the wheels the Black KA came with. But both would have originally started life looking like this:

Majorette_Ford_Ka_(silver_dark_grey_bumpers_NUC2_wheels).jpg.38ce355ad827f8b0eab828220d89aaec.jpg

i3451355624.jpg.4d7d4c23006d7beefc015072c48bf2d2.jpg

Also, one for @brammy777. I think these are all of the Norevs I have (discounting the SIKU truck). I may have more but I doubt it.

20241119_203240.jpg.9ddc1b507ae46104f14f4ad7508e16d7.jpg

What a transformation with just a wheel swap! The Siku S500 looks like a completely different model now.

As far as I know, Lesney used registrations that were never issued on real vehicles. Must have been interesting trying to work that out with the DVLA

I think the plates were initials of people at the factory? They did once put a telephone number on the Security Truck that turned out to be an actual telephone number in the US then had as result to change the tampo.

Matchbox Peterbilt

Matchbox Superfast 20a Lamborghini Marzal

RSH16S, Bedford TM Horse Box

AJW 53R Bedford TM car transporter

KCF 188W, Rover SD1 Comes up as a beige Ford

KCF 17W, Volvo F10 Comes up as a 'CZ'.

DLK 257M, Mercedes SL Cabriolet

PMC425D VW 1600 Type 3

LYX549F Zodiac MK4

DVB 257G Beetle 1300

Astra MK2 B169 UNK

Post 85 Matchboxes seemed to have generic plates with 4 numbers and 2 letters so weren't of interest to me. Maybe some did have UK plates though.

Others to photograph that I cant recall the exact registration of are:

Mini Racing, articulated lorry with dump trailer, BMC1800 Pininfarina.

Then there are some SuperKings, the Datsun 240Z and Capri II (YOL 235P)

Jag XJ6 was E51PFW and the white Cosworth was F335MHH which is too new a mark for the car.

One of the Eaglemoss partwork.  Model was by Ixo.  All James Bond Collection models are set on a diorama

I have the Corgi model from 1997 somewhere, but not the Ixo partwork

The film car was fitted with the armaments: 12 rockets, Caltrops dispenser, Tear gas emitters...

Mini Racing was AUD…. I remember this because I remember playing with the one I had at my Grandmas in the kitchen window and she said ‘The number plate is like my name!’ - Audrey. Funny how you remember these things…

There’s some good models in that James Bond partwork series. I’ve got quite a few as they’re great for cut price custom models!
Some of them are a bit shit, others not all that accurate and some have modifications to the base model to make them look more like the movie cars with modelled on damage etc etc so you need to be careful of them too as not all of them can be corrected.

All of these ones began life as models from that partwork.

Matchbox's Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II

GNF 40T

Produced 1979-83

Quote

Trivia, this model was refreshed in the same year as Gerald Norman Fanthorpe- senior tool designer - turned 40. As Gerry was one of Jack Odell key team members, they rewarded Gerry by making this refresh with his personalised number plate The number plate reads “GNF 40T“ GNF for Gerald Norman Fanthorpe, 40 for his 40th birthday and T being letter of registration. That's annoying, not a valid UK reg. Some of the 80s onwards cars had non-UK plates, usually in conjunction with LHD
