I never had a Mk3 Cortina. I had a Mk2. It was a 4 door  Super, in the notorious Silver Fox. This one had been resprayed.😕

What it did have was a steering lock and a padded steering wheel. It also had reinforced MacPherson strut tops. These were spot welded in the engine bay. In those days spot welding was only done at the factory. Never did find out why the car was made like this.

Sounds like it was export spec, I'm not up on mk1-2's.

I've lost count years ago I own 5 1/2 mk3's & 2 mk5's plus the falcon Ute.

Just won something on eBay I'm quite excited about

Screenshot_20241021-211010.png.ee97da21c9768496a5d9141ad4390952.pngScreenshot_20241021-211058.png.013418a5e667c3d22e104046be751c61.png

Could it be an original Transpalite? I know most of their output was MOY stuff encased in resin, but it's the right era. Itching for it to arrive now

Got very stuck in Kent today thanks to total carnage on the roads, so I went Hot Wheels hunting while I waited for the traffic to ease (it didn't)

Found a new set of premiums, not especially into off roaders but this one came home with me

Hambrook where they made them is only about 10 minutes drive from here! Only a little place too. Midhurst isn’t far either.

Head over, maybe they’ve got a huge pile of Lesney in the back they keep tripping over and the need shifting. 🤣

I think that is something someone made at home using Plasticraft. I stuck all sorts of stuff in mine, but never any Matchbox cars.

Got this "Pacesetters" DeLorean. Package says 1993. It's a pretty crude representation of the DeLorean, but I like the opening gullwing doors. If you're going to have a moving parts feature, the doors were definitely a good choice here. Front wheels are smaller than the rear - extra points for that detail, too.

IMG_1813.JPG.fa08b53c833c4609dea5570f90e00957.JPG

Completely unrelated, but I broke the lightbar on my NYPD Dodge Monaco (dropped it). Repair wasn't possible without obvious glue joins, so it's in the bin.

Any thoughts about what I can do with this? Fill the holes and have a slick-top version? Give it a distressed scrap-yard look? Leave it alone?

Local shops have had a bit of a restock but nothing new really. Entertainer at Tesco had a curious mix of old-as-the-hills and a couple of new-ish, so I grabbed the Honda S800 as its a cute wee thing, and I grabbed the Mazda as well to benefit from the BOGOHP offer,

IMG_20241020_183818.jpg.1d792416287e5e549217dacbe02a7239.jpg

Am I the only one to confuse this with the old Nissan Fairlady casting? I did nearly leave it in the rummage box,

IMG_20241020_183738.jpg.2d50f34285b29720decd2fdd23e882ae.jpg

Nice to see the slotmag-alikes on this one, they do suit it.

IMG_20241020_183612.jpg.27ce16b73f7d13f40622fad7e220beb9.jpg

I have sort of made a pact with myself to stop buying any more versions of Hot Wheels castings I've already got a few of, but I really like this RX-7 one,

IMG_20241020_183630_edit_43215651456795.jpg.1482d7af20a22bdba56662628e65b245.jpg

No willpower...

Local B&M had had a restock, but that frigging Proton case again!!! Matchbox stock had at least moved on to late '23 now! With the case containing the silver '70th anniversary Minor saloon. I've had a couple of the Porker Carrera cabriolets, but not seen this tin top 911 GT3 previously. It's still a good casting, so I grabbed it,

IMG_20241020_183540.jpg.036a94c5b92fd0f445ce5a2c4b5d5593.jpg

My favourite one though still has to be the dark blue one with orange stripes and wheels that I bought loose at a car boot sale. That and the brown one in the Autobahn Express 5 pack are the only other GT3s I have.

Only other recent purchase came from Smyth's. To be honest, the one near me has upped its game lately with plenty of fairly recentHot Wheels Car Culture releases, including the Japan Historics colelction featuring the Corolla Levin. I was tempted by the Mazda RX-3, but then found this one,

IMG_20241020_183857.jpg.88e45fae2cfbd6e66a0be514a9984f96.jpg

TBH I dont care a lot for the Mothers livery, but it was a fiver cheaper than the Japan Historics one, and I still like the wheels on this one, so dont mind the lack of real riders, and it still has the detailing of a premium,

Go for the scrapper look or  what about accident damaged ( dents are hard to get right especially in diecast).
