Chevy still has a few bits of yellow to scrape off but it’s looking much better like this than yellow!

What's wrong with Mooneyes?

It’s not so much the eyes, but it’s yet another hot rod from hot wheels! The shape of the car looks so much better in factory colours and styles imho. I’m not a fan of the wheels either if I’m honest!

Fresh out the sink after a soapy wash off.
The Minor is a great looking model, Matchbox really did a good job with it imho.

The roof on the Morris looks a tad high. 😄

It's a nice casting I do like the quarter light detail but the grille could do with a bit more depth.

I painted a Mooneyes Fleetline mainly because the casting lines on the front wings and boot lid where rubbish. It's a shame the newer casting has the cowl vent in the plastic windshield and none removable sun visor.

I must admit, I did think about taking a die grinder to that sun visor! I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle really. I was looking at pics on Google earlier and there’s loads of them around with the sun visor fitted. It does look a bit oversized though.

Depends if the windscreen shape is compromised by the visor. I did a La Troca and took the visor off but had to fill and paint the glazing as it's shaped to fit under the visor

Now I need to find it and do some detailing...

I think the removable sun visor (held in with a rivet) had a notch out of the front windshield. I used to put the sun visor on other cars.

Edit: I think @bunglebus and I have had the same thought. I maybe thinking of the Chevy 3100 or did I chop down the Fleetline visor?

Either way nice work.

I’ll check the windscreen tomorrow and see, but that might well bugger up my plan! Maybe just thinning the visor down slightly might help? So it’s not so long.

Guy on YouTube made a Gasser out of one - looks like you're OK and can grind the visor off as it's part of the roof casting

Ace! I might get rid of it then.

Wheres best to get replacement wheels? I’m not after anything exceptional or expensive but a supply of Matchbox style wheels would be ideal. Or is it a case of buying the whole cars cheap and using their wheels?

Most of mine come from spare cars, with the odd Aliexpress purchase for the rubber tyre type.

What are you after, the chrome hubcap ones?

Looking at my old customs, it seems the older Fleetline casting has the same removable sun visor as the Pick up.

image.thumb.jpeg.b263ff86eadd68f5c30e7cf31b88484d.jpeg

The red lead Fleetline is the new Mooneyes casting, with cowl vent apart of the windshield.

image.thumb.jpeg.03c84072c322dcf4be3bb9d0a70c2a10.jpeg

Looks like I chopped the roof on the Fleetline and 3100 enough to compensate for the window notch, but the windows on the Fleetline have gone missing.

Tidied up the more broken of these two recently.

The yellow base one had the most broken grille, and missing a set of wheels.

Not any more.

Went with big 'n little matchbox hubcap style wheels, and a new grille moulded from Plasticine and resin, then given a coat of liquid chrome.

What do you think of it Smoll Eddy?

Well, there was a conspicuous lack of Tat Friday posting yesterday, as you may have noticed...

Dunno if anyone else is finding the site quite glitchy on android mobile devices (Chrome browser) these days - I know there's been a bit of work going on behind the scenes to try to streamline the site and lower hosting costs, but I'm finding it nigh-on impossible to write a post including pics, as the damn thing just keeps pinging up and down the page. Or it could just be my phone acting out. It's quite old now.

Anyway, there wasn't much of great excitement to be had yesterday - and despite pulling up at a fairly respectable 7.25am, I was perplexed to see the gleaming black Nemesismobile leaving the parking bays just outside the market's East Entrance at that time.

Had he been, seen and conquered so very quickly, hoovering up all the Gamda Koors and Lone Star Firenzas before making a swift exit?

Or was there simply bog-all there to interest an early-morning diecast warrior?

Regardless, I nipped into the suddenly-vacated spot.

A different perspective than usual on arrival, then...

IMG_20231110_0729142.thumb.jpg.6d1b6d59c205ac168fb15904818b2b02.jpg

But yup, it appeared to be the latter theory holding sway. Seems there wasn't much to persuade Nemesis to hang about this morning

He probably also would have liked an older brother who wasn't so utterly handless and might have been able to give him a game, but hey.

So, mildly crestfallen, I puttered off to see what else there was...

Bit of a hop, skip and a jump to follow what was going on this week - apologies.

It’s a rolling conveyor here at the moment of stuff being stripped, then primed, then hitting the paint booth!

Firstly, the next victims!
Corgi Buick Regal’s. The blue car looks better than it is. One sides been hit hard and pushed inwards, and one door is twisted so won’t close properly.
Kojak’s old whip is in a right mess. So it’ll donate a good door to the blue car then I’ve got something in mind for the remains!

Managed to pick up these two French beauties in 1:43 off ebay last week.

First one is a Talbot Horizon by Altaya, which has been on my want list for some time. Annoyingly the seller didn't pack it well,  so the perspex case got damaged.

Thankfully the model itself is ok and I'm really liking the colour, will go nicely with my Talbot Samba model when I can find it!

Second purchase was this Norev Peugeot 405 SRI, managed to get this one for £24 posted. Which I thought wasn't too bad, so snapped it up.

Overall it's not a bad effort, some details are slightly wonky if I'm being picky but overall I'm pleased with it.

Colin didn't seem to be on his Diddly-Dee Irish Tat Stall yesterday morning - a woman I didn't recognise was setting up instead.

Nothing conspicuously new seemed to have arrived amidst the Mattel stuff.

There were several bigger new arrivals though - a Vanguards Transit Custom, for one:

IMG_20231110_0737052.thumb.jpg.ab08ed7aea10414025f453504d96ff58.jpg

It looks well done, but ooft dat price.

All-blank 1/76 heavy wrecker from Oxford just begging for some Code 3 action:

Similarly scaled Maestro now available in black - just visible there at the top of the stack.

IMG_20231110_0737572.thumb.jpg.1e1169ae20146b60ba654fc36874d022.jpg

Greenlight models appear briefly and sporadically on the stall - here we had a Fox-body Mustang in the Black Bandit collection, whatever that denotes:

IMG_20231110_0737312.thumb.jpg.20b7c898d81f558e82448ea5ee4f22ae.jpg

Nice enough rendering, though it's gloss black oversprayed with matt black on the door, so some sort of Black Bandit logo can be seen picked out.

I don't really know why.

Further across, Optimistic Bobby continued in his quest to radically inflate the perceived values of some very ordinary old toys:

IMG_20231110_0733582.thumb.jpg.64b359046002540b1c77c47c43e4027f.jpg

Meanwhile, Alan was only just taking the tarp down from the front of his Emporium, so we were still hours away from a 50p Tray unveiling.

I thought I may as well go and grab a coffee from my usual place, while I pondered my next steps, but of course the Riders Of The Apocalypse, or whatever they style themselves, showed up and proceeded to commandeer every table and chair visible.
