Shite in Miniature II

My wife and I have been using toy cars to train my 2 year old son to use the potty. Each potty visit gets a sticker, 5 potty visits and 5 stickers gets a toy car. So far it seems to be working. So I've been looking for job lots of diecasts to use as potty prizes!

I chucked a £5 bid on eBay for this lot and to my surprise won it for 4.71. the pictures were rubbish so I didn't know half of it was there.

Matchbox catalogue was a nice touch

A pretty good haul especially the motor show matchbox displays (shame about the missing BMW) the majorette Chrysler 180 particularly caught my eye. Most of these look to nice to give to a 2 year old though. Some like the 180 I think I will have to put in my own collection.

First stop: the car boot sale round the coast I used to go to whenever I was clearing out assorted tat.

They only operate in July and August now.

Used to be that if you didn't get in the queue by 5.30, chances were you wouldn't get a space.

No such bother today...

974738823_IMG_20230715_0902162.thumb.jpg.d70cb8ae6aea0ad438967685e38def14.jpg

Literally ten cars selling at 9 o'clock.

Well, desperate weather combined with Norn Iron holiday season probably plays a part.

Mostly just yer average dusty glass ornaments, early-2000s DVDs and Diana biographies, with some household clearance tat thrown in.

Oh, hullo...

Tat sighted.

Stallholder apparently had another Corgi car in a box somewhere, but enthusiastic searching yielded nothing.

Another guy had some ropey unboxed MoYs, but also a few other bits...

Purchasing purchased.

And onwards.

Far and away the best Alfa 75 Model was the Bburago. Annoyingly though they always used to be emblazoned with stickers when really a nice plain red would have looked better. They’re cheap enough though to buy one to respray.

yeah, hard to tell, the jet cars were either ref 845 or 852 from the Norev Bible, so that would indicate probable 70's, if not then one of these later Hachette models around turn of the Millennium? France being France there aren't websites detailing exactly what year any given model is like you have with Matchbox variations. I guess it's a very Anglo-Saxon thing to be ultra nerdy about such things.

Crumbs, what a morning.

The car boot yielded these...

258363819_IMG_20230715_0919332.thumb.jpg.0d5803e9ce65fe1791d03d79611e7087.jpg

A pound for the Corgi 205, and a fiver each on the Matchbox Dinky - not massively bargainous, but I'm happy enough.

I had the A40 van previously (I think - or was it the red Sharp's Toffee Commer van?) but sold it on last year, annoyingly.

The Dino I've never had before, but have coveted it ever since its release in early 1991.  I'm not normally much for Ferrari products, but I just kinda like this.

So it's a gift of sorts to my ten-year-old self.

I then wandered on down into town... I haven't really had much call to be back around my hometown for a fair few years now. I can't say I feel very attached to the place, for a variety of reasons, but I've been coming through a kinda introspective phase and somehow felt a bit of a tug to go back and have a nose around.

And it was kinda good that I did.

Look, it's Saturday and I have Stuff To Do, but - I'll come back later once I've edited pics and do it all justice.

It'll be worth it.

It's been a very Majorette kind of day.

Asbo in Basildump had some individual ones including a very pink Beetle

##32 should be a Dodge Charger

These are obviously all better without the tuning bits, although I do quite like the surfboard on the Golf - however they do not go back into the pack with anything fitted! They do have a stackable display box included though.

Here's the full series
