You could avoid shortening altogether, by cutting short lengths of spacer from some plastic tubing and go for the Carlos Fandago look

For those young'uns at he back who don't know who Carlos Fandango is (amazing that an ad from almost 50 years ago is still a point of amusement)

I reckon if you could drill in some metal a hole the diameter of the axle, then countersink it a bit so that when you clobber it it flares out a bit if you get what I mean? Maybe heat it with a blow torch to soften the metal a bit.

I mentioned a couple of differences between Binz ambulances earlier, but there are actually quite a few, considering it was only made from 67-72, with a brief comeback in the amazing year of 1977

Regular wheels - correct wheelarches, Merc star on grille top

Matchbox 3c Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

Early Superfast - enlarged rear arches, no Merc star

Matchbox Superfast 3a Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

Late Superfast, even bigger wheelarches

Matchbox Superfast 3a Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

Late Superfast, tailgate cast shut - and headlights now part of the body, not the base

Matchbox Superfast 3a Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

1977 twin pack release

Matchbox Superfast 3a Mercedes Benz "Binz" Ambulance

Those Siku’s and Majorettes 😎 I really ought to arrange mine in the display cases I’ve put up in my garage…. last month… 😂

Picked this up from a fairly depleted Morrisons stock. Choice of two so clearly not a popular model.

For £85 though, I'd rather just paint one to match...

Next time I'm in Wales I will drop in, looks a great place to spend a day.

You could kill an hour there, but it's quite a crappy place really (I've only been to the old site, not the new one, but I'm sure the exhibits are the same). There are some interesting things in there but there's no real curation, so Day's Gone gets equal billing with some super-rare stuff. It's worth visiting more for the heavy League of Gentlemen vibes than the exhibits, although I think the mad old woman who started it has died. Local toys for local people.

Hmm... yeah, those.

The missing cars to (almost) complete the saddo OCD collection back here...   are the top one Ford Torino Talledega and the bottom one Gazella R (which doesn't look like it should be in the collection anyhow)

The only other to complete it would be Twin Mill

I’d love to display all my stuff but for the sanctity of my marriage I condone it to one shelf in the bedroom.

No - shame I didn't know earlier you were looking as QDs have had stacks of them for months, mostly gone now.

Got the Talledega tho

Yes I am still Audi-less

Assuming you mean the IMSA 1990 Audi...

Absolutely nada still around my area for any of the latest Hot Wheels, all of the usual outlets being content instead with regular restocks of case C. To think I reckoned I'd never be able to get hold of the Volvo gasser or blue Toyota van. I must have seen hundreds of the bastards...

Not all was lost though. Local Tesco had their first new case of Matchbox for yonks,

IMG_20230413_085127.thumb.jpg.96e79918c5220de36113eb9a0a3fde1a.jpg

The Ami is kind of a folk hero on here, so I had to get one. Obviously it's tiny but very well rendered.

Front view... No, back... Er, hang on...

IMG_20230413_085154.thumb.jpg.f11c457cf717b6824d6e3ccfe9bd54ee.jpg

Yep, that's deffo the front, now the rear,

IMG_20230413_085204.thumb.jpg.d4c9762775a77fe1117ad268d39287ba.jpg

I'm finding myself liking more electric cars as they come onto the market. Our local Ford dealer has a couple of Mustang Mach-Es as demos in funky colours and, I hate to say, I quite like them, despite the slightly dodgy use of the Mustang name...

IMG_20230413_085322.thumb.jpg.165f09bb4591c44487db154b529d4c24.jpg

The Matchbox one is a little belter, miles better than the Hot Wheels racing version,

IMG_20230413_085337.thumb.jpg.0cf2c527ae5568e248ae08d4dd1d1f20.jpg

IMG_20230413_085352.thumb.jpg.c93e0f19013f513f707f04a9f561e81f.jpg

Not dissimilar to the Mach-E, another fairly interesting looking one is the new Mégane. I've always preferred miniature versions of normal family cars, and Matchbox again have put in quite a bit of effort with the detail on this one.

IMG_20230413_085243.thumb.jpg.d7b35b72981297b2513ee87bca4dbb5f.jpg

Bit different to the Mk1 Mégane my dad bought new in 1996 though...

IMG_20230413_085303.thumb.jpg.e589810e69c734208053f9673a0d8ef6.jpg

It's been said before many times on here, but the cars  coming out of Mattel nowadays are often like proper tiny collectors models rather than £2 toys nowadays.

IMG_20230413_085413.thumb.jpg.dcb750b894658d0c1c65118b4067f849.jpg

And after the revelation about this trailer being made to partner up with the Nissan Cycle Runner hardbody, I had to grab one to pair up with the truck I got a few weeks ago. Love the number plate...

It has a 'Make Offer' option so offer £2.96 to show your generosity. If the seller declines, ask if your original sale price of £2.95 still stands. If not, I'd be asking for his advice on how to do magic as he's clearly very good at recovering items which have vanished* into thin air.

Some people fundamentally don’t understand the concept of an auction do they. It sells for whatever it sells for!
