Shite in Miniature II

If any of you ESCI Transit hacksawers want to get rid of the rear half, I might* be interested in your cutoffs for a LWB project.

Gah, I've noticed that CK have been selling that Kaiser for £hardly any, yet I've still not pulled the trigger. I just didn't think the livery would sit well in my collection. I wonder if it would disappear with a little gentle solvent abuse?

I deliberately chose the Thrillcade version. Non liveried versions in various colours are also available for small change from various vendors (mine came from Model Car World in Germany).

However, those tampo prints are removable, best with acetone free nail polish remover. You need to polish and wax the model afterwards, though.

Being that, I believe, that Minichamps Cosworth uses the same (or a slightly modified version of) the mould that UT used, I must find a pair of headlamps with which to upgrade my UT version.

Other than that, and the fixed front side windows, the two models seem virtually identical.

I have a couple of the Esci Paris Dakar transits that I got on Ebay from America in 2002. From what I can remember at the time they weren't expensive, I assumed (rightly or wrongly) that there was no interest in them in that part of the world...

I built one out the box in olympic blue. The other I was going to make a recovery truck but never did anything in the end. I used to get 'Truck Model World' at the time and there was an article about a resin and plastruct kit from America. It was a rollback flatbed designed for 'dually' pick-up trucks. I remember there being a buying webpage for it with paypal, but I never pushed the button...

If you are into truck modelling you should peruse the gallery of Kit Form Services. http://www.kitformservices.com/ It's run by Howard Whitehead an expert modelmaker who contributed many articles and features to TMW...

I used to buy resin parts, such as RHD dashboard conversions from them and I bought a couple of cab transkits as well. A Volvo F88 that I still haven't done anything with and Scania P series flat roof day cab which I started to build into a rigid car transporter using an Italeri kit. Unfinished unfortunately, due to life.

Yeah the big stuff isn't cheap. I haven't bought anything for years to be fair, but it was always great quality...

Some recent purchases. The Matchbox Superkings I've wanted since childhood, the Corgi Merc Ambulance cost a whole pound from the local flea market and the Polistil Merc 450SL cost a little more but it's such a lovely model. Really want to get some more of the Polistil 1/25 scale stuff..........

I had the polish merc as a hard top but the same colour - either Christmas '78 or '79.

Sold all those Yesteryear models, 115 of them which went for £93 in the end. Even though there's nothing I can do with them I felt a bit guilty when the guy left. Wonder if my relatives will be trying to flog my mini collection someday in the future?

My latest purchases -

Corgi olds toronado - headlights still go up and down

post-4771-0-96409600-1474043818_thumb.jpeg

Hot wheels mini/essy/bug - reminds me of corgi whizzwheels I had when I was a nipper.

post-4771-0-11400100-1474043893_thumb.jpeg

Hot wheels royal flash - lotus esprit. Never seen this before.

Another esprit - and a monkey bike. Would love a monkey bike but not spending £2.5k on a honda one - a £1.50 model will have to do.

The esci transit came out around 84', I had one - I Think the reg was A706WTT.

They were giving them away as bingo prizes in Blackpool.

@sludgeguts How did they ever get permission to build that flyover in your garden?

The R107 Merc is a blinder, too. Rather sleeker than the real thing.

Like the bridge builder 8)  I had that as a kid. My Grandparents got me it. I remember the sides of the bridges breaking off under play conditions and I painted the Berliet tractor with blue humbrol enamel...Happy days :-P

The old Siku stuff was mega ace. Still got some left over from when I was a kid but alas very play worn now.

That Matchbox bridge thing is ace. Only time I've ever seen it was in the catalogue:

Today's purchases. I snapped their arm off at £2.50 each for these. The cortina has the rarer autosteer axle on the front.

Is the autosteer axle where you press down on the front wing and it turns that direction?  I'd completely forgotten about that!

In 1:32 news, I've spent about an hour this morning getting 15 seconds of useable film.

I know the subject matter is a zillion miles from Autoshite territory... but.

Did you know that Maisto also make some of its 1:18 diecast metal cars in full-function, remote control variety, with working lights etc?

Yup! If only they could do this with their 2CV.

BEAU-SELECTA on the Maistos. I had no idea about that one, hopefully they'll do their X type Jag or W220 S Class in remote control form.

That bridge and Incontinental is lush, a mate had it as a kid and I was well jealous, he also had the Corgi incontinental transporter too. I just had that weird matchbox red thing for my 1/64ish stuff :(
