I'll venture to Poundland later in search of some Renault 4 action. I can see stuff like this being worth a few bob in 20 years, cheap enough to be disposable and used as a toy. Same for a lot of the Matchboxes you see, some of the ones in Poundland look a bit fragile, bought Sierra Jr one last week, a rocket launcher, detachable rocket and thin easily bent axles! Can see a good one being a rare item in 15-20 years!

That Capri looks alright to me. Apart from the bent B post.

and the missing headlight cover, likely thanks to my old cat's habit of jumping on the shelf and knocking them off to get a reaction

Posted

Think it's the Cararama Capri. I've got the 1:72 version and it's alright.

Toejam, if it's mainly buses might be worth booking a stall at a nearby bus rally next time one is on.

I finally managed to get enough period Corgi cars to fill the transporter I bought a couple of years back  :-D

Very short-lived version, that tri-decker.   Nicely filled, too!

Made in the UK? Should fall apart as quickly as the actual Beetle then

Apparently, there is a six month waiting list and you can only get it in Tundra

Seriously though I am getting that for my grandson, just seen the video ad - kind of like a giant Kinder toy

Posted

It's quite big that Veedub, guessing close to 1/24th, RRP is £9.99, so not bad really, will photo it once I've built it, quite a few other things in this new format from Hornby.

Posted

Sadly it's bigger than 1/24 and smaller than 1/18. It actually scales out to approximately 1/22.

Why, oh why couldn't they make it compatible with anything?

Posted

hey i don't care.....its made in the UK!!

i knew that the quick build Spitfire was UK made, having seen an interview with the head honcho doing the work for Hornby.

his firm had bid for the contract just because it was offered to them, fully expecting the work to go to India or China, so when they won it, it was a nice suprise for them.

Just ordered this bad MOFO to display my 1/43's, card kit, they also have a Little Chef in the range. It's from Kingsway Models, and is based on a real place on the A13 in Essex

I like that a lot.  With some oil patches on the pavement it would be perfect  :-D

Been meaning to upload this trio for a while now:

First two are a Norev Simca 1308GT and a Polistil Opel Rekord 1700. Simca sadly suffers from being stood on at some point, hence bosozoku axles, which I think could be reshaped from someone who'd know how to separate the chassis from the body. Paint could also be better. The Opel's in pretty good nick, though a slight dent on the left side. Loving the looooong front doors, like it was a last minute decision not to make it a 2dr casting.

This Guiloy Fiesta is pretty cool, though. Same casting as the late Dinky branded Fiesta I've only ever seen in photos? Base and lid aren't perfect and someone's attempted to open the doors in the past, damaging the stickers slightly. All are 1/43 scale.

Why the detail? Well, I thought someone here might like to do me a swap(!), as although I like 1/43s, I only have one other (a later Rekord I bought off dugong ages ago) and am perilously close to starting a collection, which is something I don't need. What I would like though, is a 1/24 kit model to build, the more prosaic a subject the better. Too much to ask? Don't worry about the fact that these are in New Zealand, as my folks are coming out to visit in a couple of weeks, so could potentially deliver the swap and then post these in return in a few weeks, when they're home.

I remember Corgi doing their VW Polo in a very similar livery

.... Langley's in Naaaaaaruch today.

I love that place. I've bought a few grossly underpriced Autoart 1:18s from them in the past. Doubt that ever happens now.

Most of the diecast at this visit was at RRP sadly, very few cheapies, I didn't bother with a Vanguards Legacy at £13.

The Kamei Fiesta is odd - isn't that a Golf decal scheme?

Just Kamei colours I think, the well known Berg Cup Golf wore those colours too.
