Thought these two made an interesting comparison, especially as they're both made by Mattel. Of course they're not quite the same model - and I actually prefer the Matchbox with it's realistic colour and chrome exhausts. I must be getting old

Hot Wheels infuriate me, they do some really nice castings but then ruin it with 24 inch alloys on everything. If they did a rendition of Buckingham Palace it’d be in Gulf Colours.

Gave the Matchbox '66 Chevelle a bit of extra detail, there's not a left to do really, but I silvered the mirrors, headlights and wipers, black washed the grille and painted in the number plates, dash top, steering wheel and dogs, and blacked out the post in the back - plus gave the wheels centres a coat of silver too. I love this style as they look like Halibrand kidney beans, why Mattel leave them black I don't know

I really wish I could achieve that level of detail on 1/43 let alone those tiny things, great work!

Love the Mirafiori!

I had to sit on my hands this morning (awkward when walking) to stop me asking you to pick up the Bronze Dinky Crapi you showed on the Emergency channel!

I just went to the Brighton Marina Market and picked up few bits of shite as usual

First this Siku crane for £2, it's a bit broken and I've not managed to pull out the boom yet

IMG_1953.JPG.5876d591fd9abea5f01fcc2cba596bc4.JPG

It's fuckin' massive and weighs a ton

IMG_1954.JPG.7c054bd9592f7e27525776df4132d197.JPG

Dinky Mercedes Truck with trailer for £4 (Eddy is having it)

IMG_1957.JPG.63cfb1b1b93e888171975f6c91789d45.JPG

I know it's the later fixed door version, but has a perfect canvas tilt and both tailboards so easily worth it I'd say.

IMG_1956.JPG.435b88fc96cec2b327dda377331b5e7e.JPG

Corgi Scammell with missing glazing and interior for £4

IMG_1958.JPG.6f0a6935adb8b04464173c967c12af48.JPG

Despite the missing bits it's pretty good with all the tyres in good nick

IMG_1959.JPG.51c391384fc756b8b89c375abdb4722c.JPG

Solido Renner 17 missing the grill and lights for £2

IMG_1960.JPG.7bcf68658503668ecb34ee3aaacd76d8.JPG

Has everything else

IMG_1961.JPG.e29279f65b81abb574608f73f8f30f95.JPG

Dinky Escrote for £2

IMG_1962.JPG.80edb1f3d900e80ad6d54336216457a8.JPG

How did it get so battered and still keep all the doors, seats, steering wheel and perfect glazing?

IMG_1963.JPG.ea33e3fb201dddcd4370c4d606c28667.JPG

It won't stay as a Police car

IMG_1964.JPG.265341f5d758f92e23d6a51a2c7671e7.JPG

Lastly an Ertl General Lee Charger for £2

IMG_1965.JPG.86e1f98edb3df652b6aa5e3b5931a4b6.JPG

Not bad and I may display it next to the King Size one I made up

I picked it up too, had a missing mirror and side vent but was generally presentable, but after getting quoted £10 on the Corsair next to it I decided his prices were a bit too high for me

PXL_20250608_092753077.jpg

I'd have probably taken the Capri, Corsair, DS and the Dinky Dr.Who phone box/fuel pump too, should have tried to haggle...

PS always happy to rehome an ERTL Charger!

Got these today from a small car show 6 for £5 for the cars & £2 for the Transporter. It's battered but I can't remember seeing one with a green cab.

Nowhere near perfect but swore/glued myself/got paint on the carpet far less! Added the JDM wheels myself, they stick out a bit but I've no intention of having it MOT'd!

Not sure what to do next, liked the Jacked up Hilux or Mitsubishi car transporter kits but they are a bit pricey, will wait to see what finds me.

Funny you picking up that Renault 17. I’ve been working on my partwork one today which is the same scale I think (1/43).

I wonder if I could take a mould from my modern ones nose cone and send it you to cast a replacement for your Solido?? I wonder if it’d fit!

You did well; apparently the earlier blue-green Guy Warrior cab mated to the later yellow transporter trailer is The Rare One, according to the big Encyclopedia of Matchbox.

Crikey if only it was in better shape! Looks a bit better after a scrub up but 90% of the paint on the cab is gone:(

Edit doesn't come up where I get my research from.

I have or had one. Can’t remember if it’s here still!
The yellow and blue/green version is a changeover model from when they changed the colours. They only did them like that to use up stocks of the old colour parts, in this case the cabs. They obviously had an excess of old colour cabs but not trailers so they just used them together until theyd gone, hence why they’re quite rare.

The one I had wasn’t in great nik either. It had a crack across the trailer top deck which someone had repaired by riveting a piece of aluminium under the join!

Le Frog’s really got the styling right on those two cars. I’ve never really liked French cars and can’t stand some of their ‘styling’ efforts, but they got it bang on with the 15 and 17. The later 80’s range were very good too imho. Just a shame they opted for girly front drive!😄

What was the deal with the black boot lid on some 17’s? Some have it some don’t. Was it part of a trim package on certain models?

I think all the early 17s had the black boot lid top.

Weathering on the Kraz dumper is done.
I went quite heavy given it’s meant to be a site truck.

It’s mostly Ammo Mig mud and earth paints of various colours and consistency applied by brush. Once it starts to dry I trowled on a mixture of different coloured weathering powders which mix with the paint and stick. The inner hubs of the wheels and around wheel arches & up under the dumper bed got a heavy coating.
Lastly I used the thinnest mud paint to dip a stiff bristle brush into the ‘flick’ splashes of the paint up the bodywork from low down, to resemble where it’s driven through wet mud and muddy water.
I masked off the drivers side windscreen wiper sweep to leave a clean patch. One door mirror broke removing it so I’ve made a replacement from wire and reattached the mirror head 90 degrees to original like a different mirror has been fitted after it got knocked off.
Crudely hand scrawled vehicle numbers were done by hand with white paint then a bit of weathering put over. Also used a pair of pliers to bend and twist the front bumper on one side as if it’d hit something at some point.

Probably due to them having longitudinal and not transverse engines. On the R12, which the R15 and R17 are based on, the engine is mounted ahead of the front wheels.

Mr Hobby aerosol silver then Tamiya metallic blue aerosol. Not sure of the exact codes but the blue is the colour you are supposed to use for its rally Subarus. I put the blue on quite thick so its ended up with a candy metallic sort of effect, complete fluke! Silver round the back section was painted at the same time, took longer to mask off than any other part of the build.

Nope! Kent models had a few of these Street food Suzukis, a kebab shop, gaming station etc. This one caught my eye cos of the big comedy fish! I've seen similar for sale on yahoo.jp auctions, ones with fibreglass crab claws and stuff, lol!
