Many thanks to @bunglebus for posting this 1/25 Polistil and another red example on the miniature ebay tat thread and for @FakeConcern for tagging me. I don't look at that thread and for a very good reason however they were a lovely bargain.

20250521_143826.jpg.da6ac80a059f1f7438bc6651c4fe07d0.jpg

Both ended at a fiver each, plus the same for postage (was only £3.90 though but I won't grumble).

It's absolutely marvellous and a world away from the one-door R5 further up the thread (I can't wait for that to arrive either) Lovely opening features and great engine detail.

The red one is on its way!

That is rather lovely!

Damaged Schabak Ford Orion in 1:43.
Tail light, windscreen and scuttle trim/wipers all missing but not bad otherwise. I should be able to cobble something together to fix the missing bits.
These don’t seem too common over here and are a bit pricey when they do show up, so this one will satisfy my need for one to strip & repaint to look like my old H reg 1.4GLX one.

They turn up at Vectis quite a lot. I've had a few over the years in both 1/43rd and 1/25th scale, along with other Fords of the same era.

They look like older models to me. They’re still good, but not quite up to what you get now.

Weren't some of them made as promotional models for when the cars were current? If that’s the case that Orion of mine is early 90’s with the first of that shape Orion coming out in 1990!

Yes they were sold through Ford dealers when the car were current.

Looking at the box artwork, and being China, I think they were going for something more like the Colt Celeste

Possible, although for mass production I’d imagine rubber would just degrade and distort very quick if you were punching out hundreds or even thousands of identical castings year on year. Most of them are metal, aluminium or steel.
The ones that company I mentioned had were steel. They were two part moulds that were much bigger than the part that was cast inside them, they were tightened together insanely tight then the molten metal forced in. Once it was solid the two halves were undone and the part pulled out. Any defects like air bubbles etc and they went straight into the recycling rejects bin. Or if your Matchbox, just paint it anyway and put it in a box to sell!😆

I remember on playschool in the 70's matchbox was one of the films in the "through the window" segment.

Must be online somewhere.

After seeing this I listened to Breakfast In America for the 1st time in at least 15 years, sounded nothing like I remembered!

Anyway I've been going mad on ebay lately.

As I don't collect 1/36 Corgis I've never had a Supra, until now

Missing the parcel shelf and tow hook, but pretty nice anyway

I've not seen a Spot On Austin Healey at a toy fair and saw this restored one and was sent an offer, I made a counter offer and got it very cheap!

I thought I'd probably be painting any one that I bought and all the repro bits would cost almost as much as I paid for this

Weird diecast day today. Had quite a lot of time to myself around Oxford area to go hunting for diecasts - there were no Smyths within a reasonable distance but I hit up several Entertainers, various supermarkets, B&M and Toys R Us (where I got accused of shoplifting), as well as a few charity shops.

Bought very little for myself, but fulfilled a few requests via WhatsApp at least!

These two Corvettes came from a charity shop, the Matchbox is a lot better than the one I have, and I didn't have the Corgi

What on earth made them think you were shoplifting? Having said that they must think everyone is a tea leaf with all those security tags put on their ridiculously overpriced Hot Wheels!

That Polistil Jaguar is a belter. I had a Police one, really nice detail and a great era for that maker, 1975-80. Their subject choices were always interesting for that scale. The only reason I don't have it any more is because I swapped it for a Stahlberg Saab 900 (good deal for me IMO!)

Green Imp is the Dinky.  I almost didn't paint it but it needed a new bonnet and when I'd painted that, the rest of the car looked shabby.  But who did it better/worse?  White is Corgi, red is Vanguards.

Dinky is probably the daintiest, but the Corgi has the opening rear window that was one of the Imp's distinguishing features.  Dinky is the one I've just done.

I walked in with a carrier bag containing Hot Wheels from Entertainer, had a look through the various cars they had, didn't find anything I wanted so went to walk out - and they guy jumped in front of me and said "are you going to pay for those?" To which I replied "what, again?" He seemed a bit a bit confused by this and said it's because they sell Hot Wheels, so I said that's exactly why I was in there! He wanted to see the Entertainer receipt after I said that's where I'd bought them, said "OK I apologise" (which isn't an apology) and let me on my way.

Thank you young man; although I should point out, the car is beige.  Pale, yes, but definitely beige.  I got the paint in Wilko's, those were the days!

Even better! I might have to do one similar myself, the Dinky rendition of the car is really quite fine.
