Do any of you take premiums out the box? I have a couple that I'm itching to open but the packaging is really nice as well.

Yep I decided a whole back they look better on display, I did cut the blisters off carefully and keep the cards though

How did you do that without pulling the laminate off the card?

Yep, I tend to unbox everything, premium or mainline.

If I get something home and don't feel excited to open it right away, then it usually means I'm not all that fussed on it and it goes into the 'trade' pile for swapping.

I try to release the blisters from the backing card as neatly as possible using a plastic 'spudger',  just enough to get the model out, then the models go into a carry case and the boxes go into a storage container in the attic.

IMG_20241102_1024462.thumb.jpg.bbd3a1028ef8c31af27c6ae32d1a03c5.jpg

I do like the artwork, and feel it's somehow a part of the whole package. At some stage, I might return them to the boxes for display, if I ever get round to figuring out what I want to do with them all.

Ideally I'd probably buy two of everything - one for opening, one for keeping - but that's a bit financially beyond me, especially for premiums...

Thanks Tim, I have wee plastic trim tool for car interior dismantling, that'll do!

I literally cut around the sides of the blister, leaving the outside edge still glued on. No-one's found a way to completely remove them without damage yet as the back of the card is glossy, so no acetone/thinner tricks

I’m one of these that rarely keeps the box now, I’d need a 3,400 sq ft warehouse to keep them all in! I do keep the old stuff in boxes as it’s part of the charm but the blister packs na…

^^^ Nice HW Transit, proper '70s custom style. I had the Mazda on pre order on AliExpress but it got cancelled and went up from £7-odd to over £13.

Nah!

Must be getting close to Christmas! Not only has local Morrisons started doing HW mainlines again, Matchbox mainlines and Jada Pink Slips,  they've started doing Hot Wheels premiums for the first time. It was the collection with the  Thunderbird drag car and pastel coloured 911. Sadly the 911 and Plymouth Savoy had already gone, which were the ones I was after. Still, if they're selling, hopefully we'll see more in there.

Another first for HW premiums was at one of the B&Ms. Another collection that I've not really seen many of, apart from shitloads of Brasilias in Smyth's.

IMG_20241027_184205.thumb.jpg.021f9e354e4f4fb86c4e9a95b0d813c6.jpg

This, however, is the one I came home with. I like this Golf casting, but so far have only seen the Art Car versions, which aren't really my thing, and the one in German police livery, (which I have, even though I'm still not really keen on it...)

IMG_20241027_184234.thumb.jpg.d2f52c76ae4aad92e66fb147990e5c9d.jpg

So its nice to have one in a fairly normal, road going version.

IMG_20241027_184434.thumb.jpg.ec6d69cac5da36aec68e2aec63d0c655.jpg

The full case was there when I went so hopefully I can grab some of the others as, unusually, I do like all of this collection, especially the Alfa GTV6 and Toyota Supra. Luckily, where this particular B&M is located, its not the sort of location where many  people are likely to pay £9 for a Hot Wheels...

I'm going to have to stop going to toy fairs as I've calculated I now have enough projects to lat me until I'm aged 173.

Starting with Mrs Concern's buys, including repainted Spot On Farina Cambridge with caravan, Triang and Mercury caravans

IMG_0462.thumb.JPG.254866cebac053cf6ce990a580f0c778.JPG

I usually put the prices on so you can all feel good about yourselves for not spending stupid amounts of dosh on a load of tiny tat like I do. If you find it boring or a waste of space please let me know and I'll stop.

So these came to £10

IMG_0463.thumb.JPG.68d47ba5a6177cf13e62a67a5869a6b4.JPG

These were £20, should have been £25, but knocked the seller down, got her to wrap some of them up and then walked off without paying. She had to come after me. Embarrassing!

The Polistil Mini is missing a door, I'll look into making one. The Corgi Cub Mini Van thing @bunglebus has perfect glazing if you want it (was £1) also what is the VW Beetle?

IMG_0464.thumb.JPG.e346f278cf4c8418ea96e2bfa48f5e87.JPG

These were part of a buy with Mrs Concern (see above) and work out at £3.50 each. The Renner 12 is Auto Pilen and I now can add it to Norev and Solido versions of the same car.

IMG_0466.thumb.JPG.1f28105d57d0a27a2db15b715fddaae7.JPG

Seller wanted £6, took £5, brushes work!

IMG_0467.thumb.JPG.00c3306d8a9e59eb4b95307256592eca.JPG

One of my fave sellers, always does me a good deal (Mrs Concern's Spot On Cambridge with caravan from him too) various prices, but came to £18 for tat below. Need to see if Mr Flowers does bits for Dinky transporter.

IMG_0468.thumb.JPG.4beae381c3a3cda5c35a5064bea0321c.JPG

Other purchase this weekend came from Lidl. There was a fairly big display stand with Hot Wheels and Matchbox logos on, which I naturally made a beeline for!  Sadly the Matchbox stuff was the Skybuster type planes, no cars.

The Hot Wheels stuff was 3 packs of cars, nothing special, mainly fantasy stuff, and the Track Fleet trucks. After some rummaging, I finally grabbed this,

IMG_20241103_220504.thumb.jpg.690157a3a30289d9b9b8c8c3f95d5e39.jpg

Been after one of these for ages since bunglebus posted up pictures of one, but there weren't any to be had around here. As usual, Smyths and Entertainer had loads of the other ones, but this and the Optimus Prime one? Nada.

IMG_20241103_220554.thumb.jpg.d8abfe3708b25dec0f0aee35f8161483.jpg

£4.99 from Lidl which didnt seem too bad as they sem to be going for double that on ebay. As pointed out before, this seems to be a completely different casting to the single Volvo Drift Wagon. I do like that casting, but I think I like this one more, I think its the colour and  the fact this one has matching wheels...

IMG_20241103_220603.thumb.jpg.3e44b2e269d068db34f1bf166c6a60b8.jpg

The camping trailer is a jolly thing too, I like the retro stripes on it.

Nice roof bar detailing on the Volvo, didn:t notice the bonnet being carbon-look either until I photographed it,

VW Beetle is I think a Sunnyside (couldn't read base last night as tired!).

The Charger is very, better than the yellow one I have already. It's missing the rear bumper, but does have the louvred window.

Let me know if you'd like the Beetle or Charger as well as the Cub. I'll get some pics of them all anyway later on.

Mine's a little bit tatty, don't mind another one!

No thank you on the Beetle though, bit modern for my tastes

Ideally I'd probably buy two of everything - one for opening, one for keeping - but that's a bit financially beyond me, especially for premiums...

I saw someone cutting the card to fit the size behind the car on display case, so you get to keep the artwork and cars in case gets cool background.

Crikey I had one of those which came with a Jeep and a trailer but annoyingly I lost the Charger. The trailer is long gone but the wreck of the Jeep survived at my mum's house up until about last year I think.

Had a slightly odd encounter this morning. In the Post Office queue with a huge bag of parcels to send from this week's eBay auctions, let a guy go in front of me as he just had two boxes. Thought he looked familiar but couldn't think why.

He was asked about the contents and said toy cars, said oh that's what I'm sending too - turns out he buys and sells lots of diecast stuff that's right up my/our street, so we exchanged eBay usernames, might lead to some new acquisitions.

Think I've seen him either at boot sales or toy fairs, you know when you realise someone else is looking for similar stuff, so you try and get ahead of them?!
