I like a minter, I’ll always pick them up even if it’s a casting I can’t stand like that. It annoyed me as a kid on several points, the fire service wouldn’t use such a vehicle and it was one of those castings that you always found in the bottom of boxes that no fucker ever wants.

Not quite as shiny as I recall, but pretty good for 50p. Bonus Soopa Coopa just to further annoy myself.

Obviously, I now need a Stretcha Fetcha for maximum irritation.

Also gave me a chance to reunite a recently acquired No.24 Team Matchbox with my fairly bashed childhood original:

(Actually, it was my older cousin's first - hence his initials on the rear wing)

While I had them out, I felt that some of the recent acquisitions - plus some not-so-recents - could do with a bit of a scrub.

Fear not, nothing with electrics was submerged - damp toothbrush treatment only.

Now, back to a fun afternoon's training on Updates to the Accounting Procedures Manual while those dry themselves off...

Was out early for some shopping today and had a good poke-about in Tesco's toy aisle, but despite quite a full tub I had no luck finding a Volvo 240 - in fact, they didn't have any of the others you picked up either, so maybe we're still a case behind over here?

Noticed too that Sainsburys have their Hot Wheels reduced quite substantially; not much selection in my local store, but just a heads-up in case anyone else could benefit...

I also just found a new box of MB in Tescos. Seemingly a slightly different box.

I snapped these up. Moggy thou is begging for paint. 

These where also in the box along with the Field car and the Ford lorry. The bottom one was on a Indiana Jones branded card.

So a comparison with proper DRIVING ON THE LEFT Matchbox Caravan history was thought overdue, so starting with...

The Berkeley Cavalier, 1956-60 and had a door on each side, each sealed shut

 

The 1960-64 Bluebird Dauphine had one door, which was an OPENING THING !

 

1965-69 Trailer Caravan had not an opening door, but a LIFT-OFF ROOF with VERANDAH!  Not sure if based on a real thing.

1971-82 Trailer Caravan was a model of an Eccles, same theme of no opening door and a lift-off roof with a detailed interior within

1978-99 Caravan is the only one I remember from youth.  Opening door was plastic this time

 

2000-12 Pop Up Camper, not an opening thing but a POPPING-UP THING

 

Then it goes awry for 2007-14 Travel Trailer by switching to LHD market focus and also only in twin and five-packs, never singles.  Does have opening door though

2021-current Travel Trailer II  also in Hitch & Haul twin-packs.  Similar to Travel Trailer  but shortened and with one axle.  Does it have an opening door still though?

 

Anyway.  WHO HAS WHAT in their collection?

A few additions from the last few days.

Car boot on Sunday was cold but very busy.This Solido Citroen C35 was all I bought

This Dinky Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was a direct result of the ones shown on here recently

It goes with the other Dinky Rollers I already had.The shonky Silver Shadow came from a car boot in the summer & it had no bootlid

The one on it now came from the one I customised over 40 years ago,the missing paint is where it had a huge spoiler glued on 😀

The other Phantom V came from the waterlogged box of doom I had & is available if anyone wants it

Then this arrived,just in case I do decide to collect circus models 🙄

It's no good asking which caravans we have when it's pitch black and pissing with rain!

I'm sure we do not have the MB Pop Up Camper and now need one, also the Hitch & Haul single axle is missing from the summer house.

I have all the Lesney-era ones, mostly bought cheaply in a poor state, restored and painted white, which looks more realistic than the weird colours Lesney chose.
