I tend not to throw much away, partly due to hoarding tenancies but mostly because I like to have spares for restos and customs. Mind you I have chucked some fairly complete stuff in the bin lately as I'll never use parts off them. Always makes me feel guilty though

These days it is now worth saving as spares are often easily* obtainable.

Another Buick has arrived 😁

I was putting it on display when I noticed I already have a 67 Wildcat 🤔

Silver one is from a Spanish part work by Altaya, blue one is a Brooklyn.

Postie brought something earlier...

IMG_20220315_140911.thumb.jpg.a86dd095b0b4a22bd9df4e468aab9075.jpg

Early indications were... alarming, though.

But thankfully, all inside was just fine.

IMG_20220315_141811.thumb.jpg.8356fd0147df75a7ae04e9ca0e091c7f.jpg

Yup, it's the latest from the lads and lasses at Corgi Model Club.

With a foldy-out box thing.

IMG_20220315_141802.thumb.jpg.c4e97ff405a83a50ccafc4acaf6cbc7b.jpg

Now, in all honesty I'm not that much of a fan of the E-Type 2+2, finding it a bit humpy compared to the sleek lines of the original fixed-head coupe.

IMG_20220315_141414.thumb.jpg.666899c2ba5acbd35570eaba0d4419ca.jpg

IMG_20220315_141425.thumb.jpg.a13b9fbdb1fb72f7d36a1267b3aa5ebf.jpg

But it is very nicely done, with 'opening everything' and a few nice touches like the detailed dash and spoked wheels.

IMG_20220315_141524.thumb.jpg.5178b40a92d3806dca7ea660ba18da66.jpg

IMG_20220315_141437.thumb.jpg.71e61ea16d810ad5479cda78d2dfdcab.jpg

The engine, although not quite up to modern standards, is a nice stab at the legendary V12.

IMG_20220315_141512.thumb.jpg.6be6c61ba62ed724cf6b4b3ea35840ad.jpg

Good survivors must be scarce, given the fragility of the wing mirrors and exhaust system.

IMG_20220315_141547.thumb.jpg.7cb5009e43f7c0c226f27b41be8443d4.jpg

So not maybe one I'm wild about - but very nice all the same.

WANTED

Has anyone got any Minichamps outer card sleeves laying about?

I've got 2 Pumas without them, and another one on the way20220315_190359.thumb.jpg.39d7e0c4d75a6dad65181cadbf2c7ccc.jpg

What I'm looking for is the black card outer like the one here20220315_190333.thumb.jpg.2fafa4972e7eda5b22ffd8eabf5dca8d.jpg

Or even a Ford branded one20220315_190346.thumb.jpg.04e9420d1b9dee53a2b3bf8b7eb6199d.jpg

They don't have to be from a Puma,or even a Ford,as long as they're the right size.

Let me know if you have anything.

Thanks

Me either, for the same reasons. The windows are too tall, looks like it's been "tooned".

The original has a track that's too narrow, but that's easily remedied with some phat rimz

Still not buying diecast! Especially after the Merc just about scraped it's MOT and left me with a fair list of advisories to work through. ('Engineered like no other car in the world...').

But a recent birthday gave me the usual diecast-buying free pass. I've been after this one for ages but the prices of Vanguards models has just gone silly lately, with the usual deluded fools thinking that just because Corgi raised their prices on 2022 releases, then they can ask £40-£50 for older releases that have been gathering dust in stockrooms for the last 5 years or so.

IMG_20220315_195216.thumb.jpg.9d2adc4c7d1cfe4d2ad77d00129ba677.jpg

Hmm, nice Cortina, another S model as well.

IMG_20220315_195242.thumb.jpg.f30ac44626e8e7e1f5acab2e44dac77d.jpg

Hmm, interesting.

Yes, this one is a rendering of a genuine Jeff Uren-built 3.0 Savage, thought to have been the only conversion on a Mk4, and as tested by racing driver, engineer and motoring presenter John Miles for Autocar in 1979.

IMG_20220312_185240_075007.thumb.jpg.f337ef5543de67713cddc306c2f362f7.jpg

It's pretty accurate to the real thing, details like the extra driving lights and aftermarket Minilite wheels are present.

IMG_20220312_185348_075015.thumb.jpg.cd89a3921185003f77e129dfa15d8ba1.jpg

At the rear, only the badge gives the game away. Interestingly, this is the second Cortina S with a 3.0 litre engine modelled by Vanguards, the other being the Grass green South African 3.0S version.

IMG_20220312_190404_075024.thumb.jpg.e8b585ea52db872d3ab8565c370b3cb9.jpg

The stripes and S logos are nicely done,

IMG_20220312_185223_074959.thumb.jpg.7f0c36ca81c97a7f5054dd44e2d7b37f.jpg

And this variant, thankfully comes from the period when Corgi started to at last feature a bit of interior detail, with the Cadiz stripes on the S. Although the real car at the time of the road test report apparently had a leather interior, so I'm not sure just how authentic it is!

IMG_20220312_185218_074951.thumb.jpg.45beea576a91c007d2ee677b575680a7.jpg

While not being a completist (!), I'm glad to have this one now, as the S is my favourite Cortina variant, and this one now completes the Vanguards set,

While I'm normally more "toys" than "models", I'd really like one of those. Bet they don't do Jupiter red with chevron cloth...

Sadly not. They did a Jupiter red Ghia though with black roof. Might not take much to make an S out of it.

Same with mine! I bought it as spares or repairs with mirrors missing and both fog light inserts gone. Luckily there was a guy on eBay at the time selling Vanguards spares packs and just happened to have packs for the Cortina S with a pair of black door mirrors, wipers and fog lights, so the model and the bits to fix it cost me about £7, which I thought wasn't bad.

Mine needs all of those as well. I've also got a missing headlight from my rally liveried Mk2 Escort.

These seem to command quite a few pennies on eBay, I'm slightly ashamed to admit I just bid £10 on a job lot just because it had the same medical colours one in it - and got instantly outbid.

Happy days
