And some new arrivals. I already had a Dinky Jaguar but nowhere near as nice as this, and the Imp is just lovely, albeit needing a tyre. The Corgi A60 is another I'd been idly seeking for a while and it's the nicest I've yet found if you overlook a tyre deficiency and a crack to the screen and rear door windows.

Have you got plenty spare tyres? I have quite a large amount of smooth dinky tyres if you need any.

From memory, the Passat Polizei wagon and R5 took some finding and I've a feeling the Passat never left Germany, as it was always the toy I'd be looking for but could never find

What, this one?

What's the orange bay window bus? Looks like a matchbox with the plastic roof missing...but it also doesn't - guessing it's a Siku?

Aye, that's the one. I've no solid memory of mine ever making it back to the UK, so I think I lost it somehow. Being an older casting with skinny wheels, it was one of my favourites, even though I much preferred ordinary cars to emergency vehicles or liveried vans. On the one hand, I liked to make up my own mind what the 'job' of my cars was when playing with them but I'm now wondering if that was a precursor to my work-shy adulthood?! Sure, I make a wage and work is all encompassing when it arrives but the work finds me. I'm certainly not a networker and I do value my downtime, so don't often worry when the 'phone stops calling...

Can anyone else derive any psychological flags from their childhood toy collections?!

Well I can remember fitting big wheels under the back of my Matchbox VW camper when I was at junior school, already into VWs and hot rods. Still into them and messing about with toy cars.

That'd probably be pretty handy, thank you! I haven't any tyres at the moment, been meaning to get a Steve Flowers order together but I understand he's dealing with a bit of a backlog.

You'd be better putting the Riviera under the trailer!  401 V8 will easily have enough torque.  Meanwhile, that's exactly the Scammell I need for mine.

No, I don't think so. I only remember my dad and I painting a few cars in a matt black paint he had....

... wait a minute... ?

I had a few of those Siku, the 750il and the Jaguar XJ40. Both really solid models. Can’t off hand remember where I got them from, what retailers stocked them? The ones I had were definitely bought new, in the days you could buy Matchbox anywhere both the local Post Office and the Newsagents on our Estate sold them. I can remember going in and getting a Laser Wheels Rover 800, I’m assuming these were more expensive than the regular ones as I didn’t have many of them.

When I was a kid I was fixated with scrapyards, so much so I had a box full of broken ones to make a scrapyard from, always in the same spot in the living room.

Do you wear oily rigger boots as an adult?

No I’m not a fan of riggers, they’re clumpy to walk in and when you are grinding shit finds it’s way down the sides of the boot on to your feet.

I thought it was going to rain too but nothing so far. The same could also be said of this morning's boot sale, plenty of stalls but very disappointing for the amateur tathunter. Had to get round a bit sharpish on account of time constraints and very nearly left empty handed before finding this in a tat box at the eleventh hour. One of these graced a recent Tat Friday and piqued my interest rather, as I hadn't come across one before. A fair degree of camber each end and no bonnet gives it a slightly gasser look, at least in my eyes. Glazing, interior and tailgate are all present and correct so it didn't seem unreasonable for a quid. The front end makes me think of a Moskvitch with these slightly too-big headlamps.
