It's all Marklin stuff he uses for the layout. He has a huge collection as well.

 

Most of the museum is also Marklin stuff including all the toy kitchen stuff and ships.

 

The lighting in the layout area I was told cost over 100k Eurodollars at the time.

 

A great place to visit for car or train people.

I looked up info about the warships.They seem to go at auction for around €100k each.There was also an ocean liner that was about 5-6 ft long.

For body spraying, I use a piece of wood and a huge wodge of blu-tac.   Wood dimension depends on model but you want about 12 inches (missus) at least.  Blu-tac the shell to the stick.  You can then turn the model, raise or lower it away from the spray accordingly.   This also means you can take the work into the light, out of the dust, away from things you don't want to be Dinky-coloured etc.

Remember I swapped Christine some models? And that a play worn Mustang was in the swap?  Well, now restored. Some paint errors which I've mainly concealed with the photos here (hence queries above).  The Steve Flowers glass replacement is too thick really, not as delicate as the original. Needs gluing back together at some point.

For painting matchbox size stuff I use similar to the above. Correx plastic with paperclips or toothpicks stabbed in. 

I some times use soldering helping hands. Although the crocodile clips can snap off so I usually just use the croc clips as rests.

I've got a modified one of these with three croc clips instead of the magnifying glass.

I have been watching an Aussie on youtube who restores old Matchbox stuff, what he does is superglue a screw or nail to the inside of the model, and holds the model with a set of long nose pliers, and sprays models that way, seems to work, he also shows a handy way to remove & replace Matchbox axles, in other news I have a Corgi 999 collection mk1 Transit in Warwick fire service livery, sadly mirrors are missing, but found some on ebay, the model cost me, wait for it..........£8 WITH postage, and it is boxed with certificate, mirrors have cost me less than £2, so for under £10 I have basically a Vanguards Ford Transit van

In other news, I have purchased a pair of Norev Pug 203s. One to keep and one to sell. I am of course selling the one in less good condition! It has marks and dents on various parts of the roof which I hope I have pictured. Price is £8 posted (standard 2nd class).

Loving that Matchbox box art Christian, anyway, here's that Aussie bloke I was on about doing up a battered old Commer, which is really based on the old Mr Whippy vans, not a Lyons Maid van as produced by them, the body is a Bonalack of Essex body by the look of it. Yes I'm an ice cream van nerd and have the Nostalgia Road ice cream van trilogy books, and that casting is pure Whippy. Anyroad, here's Marty down under, and he does have a good name if I say so myself, so sit back, grab a brew and some snacks, and go through his playlist. I don't think you will be disappointed. He has some really handy tips.

My el cheapo Ford Transit in Warwickshire Fire Service guise, with it's pig nosed friend, the fire service Transit came from a faceboiok diecast group for a mega barg £8 shipped, yeah the mirrors are AWOL, but I nicked the ones from the green piggy, and put ones from a Michelin VW T2 van

A recent purchase and resto is this Husky toys James Bond Aston Martin,

 

I don't really restore Husky because they are so fragile,but decided to give this one a go.

 

It had the usual broken suspension tabs in the base,as well as nearly total paint loss.

Another tidy up.

One of my favourite matchbox castings.

The MG 1100.

 

This was in good shape,but had suffered horrendous paint loss.

So a quick blow over was in order.

I also did a repaint. Corgi Juniors are great - the castings are often quite nice, and they're so utterly valueless you can just buy more if the painting goes wrong. 

 

 

 

You can't see in the picture but I also painted the interior brown with light brown seats. You can't see it in real life either, so that was a waste of time.

Inspired by myself, I dug out all my 80s Corgis. 

 

 

The unboxed ones are mostly from childhood, the boxed ones were picked up at toy fairs for 50p each. 50p! For mint boxed! They're worthless! and I love it!

 

The quality is erratic. They range from "actually very good" like the Pontiac Firebird (with metal baseplate and neat detailing) to "what is this shit" like the Mercedes 190, where they've even deleted their name from the baseplate, hopefully out of shame:

Lulz at the Tonka Car Carrier in Great Yarmouth model village- I suppose the vehicles consisted of what large scale stuff was available off the shelf at the time. Interesting looking Semi to the left and the Triang Routemaster has somehow escaped being painted blue and cream to represent a local bus.

So I found another Tomica retailer yesterday, apologies for the amount of pictures in advance! Still no sighting of number 51 the Toyota Crown taxi though. Each window box pulls out on a draw and supposedly the models are behind - can be a bit hit and miss however. Scales vary widely too. Despite my (broken) self imposed ban, I may have picked up some FJ cruisers...

You try removing scratches with G3 to limited effect.

I had a similar one as a kid; something fell on it > Luton box got broken > sharp bits > BIN by worried parents.

This one looks nicely used without being knackered; I don't remember mine having the Avis stickers left so it's even better.

That was the Avis verion of the A series. I had it in Basset's livery. Anyhow, I now have a rather nice Fraud Transhit campervan in my collection, from the French Camping Cars series, it's a Ci Autohomes coachbuilt mk1, and it has the pignose, and strangely 2 exhaust pipes, so the 3.0 Essex lump represented? Not a fan of the black & silver plates on it, but an easy swap

Corgi whizzwheels Martin Walter Mk1 Ford Transit camper.

 

I have 5 of these,this is the only one I've found with its rear door intact!

Restored it back to original with no extra detailing.

It was painted a horrible brown and black combo with a brush when I found it.
