Shite in Miniature II

Man Maths!!!.....Just been up to Blackpool for an annual rocking weekend.  I usually take the T25 so that when we miss breakfast at the hotel through not getting up early enough, we can go down the sea front and cook something up for ourselves.   Also more room for Mrs Rocker's frocks and my drapes.   However I calculated a fuel saving of approx. £40 by using the 190E instead this time, intending to use the "saving" to buy some more records on the stalls in the ballroom.

However, I didn't find any records that I wanted other than three or four £1 cheapies.  It meant I had a theoretical £40 quid burning a hole in my theoretical wallet.   We stopped at a vintage shop on the way home and I quickly justified my purchase of This - A long-term Holy Grail that I could never afford or justify buying before.....

Box is cacked but model isn't too bad and you can't find these for reasonable money anywhere now.  I had to make up the purchase price by foregoing tea and cake in the shop next door but I can bank those calories for another beer next time out.....Man Maths!

How to do diecast.

You buy this for £1.

attachicon.gifIMG_20180921_123634.jpg

You wash it.

attachicon.gifIMG_20180921_124230.jpg

You paint the wheels.

attachicon.gifIMG_20180921_125139.jpg

You try removing scratches with G3 to limited effect.

attachicon.gifIMG_20180921_125837.jpg

You realise you never wanted it anyway and offer it for cost of postage on here (£3.00).

Yaay! Matchbox Superkings K-27 (Ford A-series box van) has arrived safely!

Thanks so much - it's been many a long year since I've had one of these in my hot little hands (without ending up cut, anyway).

I hadn't even realised that it's the exact same casting as the articulated version; just with a big plastic box on the back.

It's great. I love it!

Latest addition my 'cars wot I've owned' shelf. The repro Dinky is a bit more accurate, but this repro Quiralu is more unusual, and it was very cheap. Still looking for a cheap Norev 406, Spot On Minor and Dinky Singer Vogue (the closest thing to a Sceptre) if anyone sees them going for pennies...

This old barge has almost everything wrong, missing sunroof, warped glass, loose front axle (mounting snapped), broken front and rear number plates, rivets snapped off (car has been opened up), roof snapped in front of the sunroof, and was almost entirely de-chromed before I got my pen on it. Still, didn't pay too much for it...it can stay in my Norev retirement home for a while.

Drip superglue where the rivets were. Works really well and you can easily snap the baseplates off in the future, like when you have this:

which I repainted many many years ago. The finish was rather good, but this was the pre etch primer era, and the paint has chipped. So I re-re-painted it.

Apart from the General Lee,the TV series bat mobile is a firm favourite.

Picked this up in a discount shop recently.

It's a Hot Wheels,but in a slightly bigger scale.

There should be a boat and trailer to go with it but it wasn't there.

Still, this is a nice model for a modest outlay.

I always thought that Cortina was a lovely model.  I even have one I've converted to four-door to match the last car my dad bought new (HWM 457F).  Nice work, both before and after.

Thanks. It is a nice model - when I was a teenager I was given a mint boxed one, and I liked it so much I bought this scruffy one to play with!

Drip Araldite where the rivets were.

FTFY

Yep, I'm a BIG fan of that car.  You know you can buy a kit to build one full-size?  Uses 1970s Lincoln running gear, I believe.

The current ones use the 77-9X Caprice chassis. Lincoln Futura version also available now.

Corgi juniors stock car with a missing wheel.

Hope to find more of these.

Good luck, they are very hard to come by lately.

Never heard of this brand before.

Nice subject matter though.

It's a Swiss company that started using old Norev moulds after their bankrupcy in the late 70s, but injected them with a weird, heavy, non warping substance.

They can be used to restore old Norevs to an extent.

Trying to catch up with Egg's runaway collection of psychedelic plastic is futile, but I keep trying.

This is the harvest of the Caen jumble, which I finally managed to clean a bit.

A rather tired Floride in - according to Junkdaughter #2 - "Sammin".

30039472377_f5bf85d5c8_b.jpg

It's the first issue without interior and suspension - and in my case taillights.

Also note stress crack in rear screen.

Next up is this seriously rare 600:

In true French fashion, it's missing a headlight.

Other than that it's in very good condition save for a little stress crack underneath the front plaque mineralogique.

And finally this '58 Chrysler in neon fuchsia:

Purchase of said warped Mopar enables me to recreate this rig, which truly is a sight to behold:

The combo was available as a set.
